Mask of Eternity's game environment allowed for thought-provoking puzzles that were not possible in 2D adventure games.
The character animation in Mask of Eternity toped that of its predecessors, at times moving so fluidly that you thought you were really there.
Mask of Eternity introduced the first real-combat skills ever to be seen in a King's Quest, making it the first game in the series to be classified under the Action-Adventure category.
King's Quest VIII was the first game in the series to introduce a new member to the saga, Connor Maclyrr, who was not a member of the Royal Family.
