Cool! I'm glad you're moving through the series. Keep it up, we'll all be cheering from the sidelines.

Thanks. :) It's tough working these in there with a full-time job, but I plan to keep doing them.

Cool. I'm caught up. You may want to turn the game volume down, though. At the end of the video, it's harder to hear you. Otherwise, all is well. :)

Another unfortunate failing of KQ7--Chapter 1 is so boring!

Not a comment on your LP, Enchantermon. :) I've just always found that chapter to be extremely slow and boring. All of Valanice's chapters tended to be that way, but this one more than the others. Which is a real shame because it's the very first part of the game and it's undeniably the weakest.

Hopefully you won't have the curse of the explosion later on... that's just lousy programming of the timer.

Glad I'm not alone on that thought. Your mission is to open a door and have barely any NPCs to interact with. Hooraaaay  :P

He will likely unless his DOS box can slow his computer down. Hon- if you have problems with an explosion later on, download CPU Killer (http://www.cpukiller.com/) and retard your computer for the duration of the explosion scene. You likely wont be able to Lets play during this scene, but you'll atleast progress in the game This scene wont happen for a while.

BTW- I am watching these! :)

Yeah, I struggled with the volume in this game; it's hard to find a good balance. I think I've got it worked out though; we'll see.

Heh. Someone on YouTube mentioned the same thing. There definitely isn't a lot going on during Valanice's first couple of chapters, so it does seem slow. I don't know that I find it boring, but YMMV.

Thanks for the tip. :) I haven't tested it, but I shouldn't encounter the bug. The version I have is from GoG which, iirc, has that particular bug fixed. We'll see. I really hope I don't hit it; I had to jump through some pretty annoying hoops to get the game to run properly while recording, and I don't know how badly CPU Killer would screw with that. If worst comes to worst, I could probably play that one scene in the Windows version (if I can get it to work) and splice that in to the video. Annoying, but not terribly difficult.

I'm not sure how they do it. I know I play DOSbox and you need the retarder for that. It's a pain. Just watch for it. IT's cause the game doesn't use it's own timer- it uses the computer's timer.

I just watched it. I seriously couldn't hear more than a whisper from you, though, whereas the game was uncomfortably loud (due to my attempt to hear your comments).

One negative thing about the game that I didn't notice you mention is the fact that the game tends to take the longest route everywhere - as evidenced by the lantern-lighting scene. You try to add a spark when you're next to the fire, just to have the game force you to the other side of the fire.

Yeah, still working on that. Unfortunately, it's not going to be fixed for a little while; I had a small span of free time in which I took the opportunity to do some mass recording. I thought I had a good volume worked out, but I must have set it improperly, because doesn't seem to have gotten much better. I'd re-record them if I could, but I just don't have the time, and I don't want to rush them either, as I would be prone to do without thinking. The good thing is that I bought some time, so I'll get this irritation perfected before I record more. I'll also see if I can perform some sort of normalizing to the videos I already have, which may help alleviate this.

Episode 4 is up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zmcwjC277w)! Let me know what you guys think of the volume of narration versus game sound. I was able to improve it a little, but any more and I end up bringing out an annoying amount of white noise from my microphone, so we may have to settle for what we have until we get through this batch I recorded all at once. Sorry about that. :-\

Episode 5 (http://youtu.be/sZJzLKMdqsY) is available! Be forewarned: this episode contains encounters with the hummingbird, Chicken Little and Treasure, and the volume issue isn't fixed yet, so keep your fingers on the volume control to prevent ear bleedage. :P

Episode 6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpwAUwLsaGM)! We're still on the pre-recorded ones. Honestly, I almost went back and redid this one because it's got some rough spots, but in the end, I decided not to.

"Don't take any wooden nickels." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooden_nickels) - FAIL!  :P

Ersatz (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ersatz) the Mock Turtle!

... and, of course, the two KQ5 references: the disrespected owl and the imitation Yeti feet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpwAUwLsaGM&feature=player_profilepage#t=1285s). (Listen to Ersatz' comment. ;))

Why doesn't the rubber chicken have a pulley in the middle?  :-\

You know, when I was reviewing this video before uploading it, I was positive that I had mentioned the rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle, but apparently I didn't. Shame on me.

Likely, the disguise appeared for Rosella by means of the King's magic.  He seems to have more abilities than he lets on.  Immediately after his comment about Rosella's need for a disguise, the garment appeared.

If that explanation doesn't do it for you, then chalk that piece of the game up to "Nintendo Logic".  Video games do lots of things that only make sense if you understand the nebulous concept of "Nintendo Logic".  :P

You know, I never even considered the possibility that the king made that appear. That really does seem to be the only logical conclusion.

And hah, Nintendo Logic. True enough.

Cool! So what's next on your agenda? Are you going to do what Aardvark4Lunch merely started with MoE? I'd like to see you play that without codes - the skeletons with crossbows killed me when I omitted the Console and cheats.

I'm not really keen on a MoE walkthrough. I'm sure that it's fun to play, but it's not fun to watch due to it's dynamic being more action focused than story focus :( I've watched an MoE walkthrough before and found myself skipping forward. I mean, if Enchantermon had interesting things to say, I'd watch for that, but not the game in this case.

I understand your viewpoint; I feel the same.  But, I would like to see how he handles certain parts of the game, without the console/debug mode. The game's story was sorely lacking for me, too.  It's just the "Hmm..." factor that makes me ask. :)

In reality, it's just a countdown until he covers TSL. !!!

I do plan on doing MoE. I kind of flip-flopped about it because of the nature of its gameplay, as has been stated above, but in the end, I decided to just go for it. I'll do my best to be entertaining. :) And I definitely will be playing without codes. I'm kind of nervous about it because this will only be my second time playing through the entire thing, so I'm not sure how it will go. But we'll see.

And yes, I do plan on taking on TSL afterwards; I'm betting it'll be done by the time I get through Mask and the four chapters out now. And Cognition will be on the list as well. :)

Expect King's Quest VIII.....sometime. :P I'm having issues with the graphics that I'm trying to work out, but as soon as I have it running properly, I'll start recording.

And by the way, thank you everybody for watching! :) I've been enjoying this quite a bit and I hope you have been as well!

It is because the King OUTRIGHT has magical ability. Matilda his keeper has magic and he has a bag of magic powder and a magic staff.

I think creating a magic black cloak is a bit in line with what he can do.
