Title: Download Patches
Post by: Maiandra on April 20, 2014, 01:46:29 PM
So I've read that there is an update for the game available via Steam, but for those of us playing the non-Steam and non-GOG versions  (i.e. Phoenix Online CSG download), how do we get updates to content?

Will patches be made available to us in some way?

For other sources, the game would just need to be downloaded and re-installed. This doesn't have any impact on saved games, and the majority of the fixes we've put up have just been cosmetic and weren't preventing the game from being finishable.

Are you saying that you will not provide a patch?
That we need to download the entire game again and install it from scratch?

I have 8 more downloads left on the link I was sendt, I have to use 1 more of those downloads becuae you are not going to post a patch link?

We can always add more downloads if needed, there's no permanent limit on that counter.

Oki, good to hear.
But is there any reason why you do not just give out a patch?
It seems so strange.

We haven't actually been able to fully develop a regular patching system. Steam and GOG are able to do it through their own sites, but we don't have a method for doing this quite yet. It's also a bit tricky to make sure any patches you put out only get applied to exactly the right version of the game, when there's a few different types floating around. Something we're going to continue working on and hopefully have figured out by the time we release Gabriel Knight.
