I know most people don't check these forums anymore, and I'm probably the only person left who's been around long enough to remember any of this, so forgive me if I'm misremembering some 25 year old details--
But before The Silver Lining, there was King's Quest IX: Every Cloak Has a Silver Lining. That of course changed in 2005 with Vivendi negotiations. But even before that, there was King's Quest IX: It Takes Two to Tangle. That project seemingly died in 2002 due to the author (Akril) needing to step away, at which point Cesar and the TSL Team took up the KQIX banner and lead the charge to complete a King's Quest fan game.
Well, 22 years later and with TSL now officially vaporware, Akril has appeared again out of nowhere like Crispinopher at Mordack's Castle and magically announced that It Takes Two to Tangle, the original KQIX fan project, has been completed.
I just finished it, and while having its limitations (It's the 25 year long pet project of mostly one person), it's infused with love of the series and gives us a fitting farewell to our favorite characters. And best of all, its complete!

It's definitely worth a play! Safe to say my expectations were exceeded.
