Well?... ;)
I'll say Doom 3. :P
A custom engine!
Ok, I admit, I have no clue what any of these things are. :P
What they have now...only because it looks awesome as it is :D
Why don't they go back to Crystal Space? :P
Hard to say since I can't see pictures on all of them but Source looks pretty good.
*goes through process of elimination*
-GrimeE, by now, is a bit primitive(by comparison to the others), despite it being made for Adventure games.
-Despite Crystal Space's advances, I would think many of the reasons Phoenix chose to switch still applies.
-The Doom3 engine would likely cause much higher system requirements than makes sense for an Adventure game.
So, I am left with 4 choices which I think make sense. I won't be voting for Torque, because I wouldn't want to pick what is already being used... that, and I think that the others have more potential(but the cost... argh ;P ). A custom engine would be interesting, but it takes time to make(yes, I know I stated that time was not a concern ;P).
Now I am down to two. Source or Unreal. My knowledge of Source is far less than my knowledge of Unreal... so, knowing many of the advantages of Unreal, I must go with it. XD
Having said that... there is one feature I would love to see in an Adventure game: A havok physics-based puzzle. ;)
I pick Torque because it already looks good with it. I would rather not risk screwing something up with a different engine or ruining the look.
LN, maybe something like Incredible Machine with a Havok engine? ;)
I'd say perfect... but it's not an Adventure game. Now, as a puzzle WITHIN an Adventure game(such as TSL)... ;-D
Not a bad idea. Torque does support physics, you know... :sneaky:
"You have to push the buzzer which releases the fly which distracts the spider which jumps off the scale which flings some jam which hits a dog who wags his tail which causes a breeze that knocks over some papers which releases a spring that tosses up a bird feather which lands on Graham's nose. When he wakes up he nudges Valanice, who rolls onto the second buzzer..."
The Source engine.
Works fine for Halflive 2. :D
ok, umm...this one!!
A custom engine! :D
Then others could use the engine to make 3D adventure games in the style of TSL!
