After being taken off-line during QFG2VGA's release, KQ1VGA returns to the internet in higher quality than ever. The new version has completely redone background and dialogue art, a professional narrator audio track and an option to disable dead end scenarios. KQ1VGA 4.0 is available at the updated site at www.agdinteractive.com.

Good idea. Haven't really tried that yet. :)
Wine indeed works just fine for AGS games. I run Ubuntu almost exclusively and I've had no problems with any AGS games (minus the odd MIDI song not working and video cutscenes that aren't encoded in Vorbis' video format).
Thanks Erpy. That looks gook. Now I have to go download it again. ;)

So drinking wine when you have Linux gives you the illusion that the game works? XB

LOL that's too funny! ;D
I haven't gotten around to downloading this yet but it will be the first thing on my agenda when I get home. I was reading the AGDI forum that the releases were originally supposed to be a part of the KQ collection that VU was making. I sincerely wish they had been included, and perhaps in the future VU can make another collection that includes these remakes, and for once make a Quest for Glory collection. I've never played Quest for Glory, and it would be great if VU released a collection so new people could play it. I'd rather not start with the second game, but the first, and I don't want to rely on illegal means to get it. One can only hope...
Well there have been QFG collections released in the past(I own one), just not of recent. I understand where you are coming from though, I haven't tried that collection out on a recent Windows, but I severely doubt it'll work on Vista.
In dosbox, ehh. It can work, it might be harder htough.
Don't count on any more collections coming out. When VU combined with ActiVision, ActiVision acquired all the IPs and they put them up for sale. So I don't think they'll be releasing anymore collections from here on in. Your best bet is eBay for the Quest for Glory games now.
I haven't gotten dosbox to work on every Sierra game I've tried. For example my Police Quest 3 wouldn't work properly.
And MusicallyInspired makes a great point. I hadn't thought of that. :/
If the revamped KQ1VGA had been part of those collections, it wouldn't have been nearly as refined as it has been now...the narrator would probably have been missing, the graphical updates would have been less drastic and there might have been a few bugs in there that have been fixed only recently. I personally prefer a game that's of higher quality to one that is on a commercial CD, just for boasting value.
And as Musically Inspired says, I'm not expecting any future collections to appear in which it would be included. When Activision was merged with VU Games, the Sierra classics were deemed insufficiently viable in a commercial sense...meaning they're unlikely to pour any more money into the franchise. That's why they were put on sale. The shutting down of the official forums for the respective games shows they're taking it pretty seriously too. Ebay may be a more reliable source.

QFG 1-4 did work fine for me in DosBox. 5 is windows based. I haven't tried that on Vista though.
Try installing win 3.1 IN dosbox if you have an old copy, if not, a copy would be super cheap.
Police Quest 3 doesn't have a Windows version. Win 3.1 would be useless.
I should point out PQ3 RAN, it just didn't work properly. Like I remember at one point at the beginning you're all out of things to do and time is supposed to pass for you to do the next thing, and that time just never passes so you're stuck in limbo.
