Girl power!
By the way, I'll go ahead and admit now that, yes, my audio and the video are slightly out of whack. I tried recording with Fraps again, but no matter what settings I tried, I would always end up with the same problem: any time animation and music were playing at the same time, the music would start stuttering. If the screen was mostly still, the music played fine, but this is hardly ever the case. So I had to instead record the game using DOSBox's internal recorder, record my voice with Audacity, and paste the two together, which resulted in them not quite matching up. Sorry about that.

that's why you use ffmpeg on linux ;D
I actually thought about doing it in Linux, but I didn't know of a way to record it since Fraps doesn't have a Linux version (strangely enough). I'll look into this; thanks. :)

If I'm reading this right, though, this option only lets you record either microphone audio or system audio, not both at the same time. Therefore I would be in the exact same boat as I am now; I would still need to mix the audio and video together before uploading and that's the main problem.

oh... actually your right about that. there are some other good options for linux though, that can handle mic audio and system audio. I just havent tried them.
Part 2 is up! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTL7RSLWdT0) Audio is still wonky; hopefully i can fix that for the next segment. Make sure you leave annotations on; there are a couple of inaccuracies in my narration that I set right in them.

For anyone wondering, I have not forgotten about this, but I've been swamped with RL stuff. I actually recorded Part 3 last week (with Fraps on a faster computer) and was going to upload it yesterday, but then I discovered during prep that the game sound completely drowns out my voice on several occasions, so I have to re-record, which I'm planning on doing tomorrow. Hopefully I will have it up sometime tomorrow as well, but if not, it will either be late Friday (I'm working during the day) or sometime Saturday.

Have at it, Arkillian! Part 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVvysdip8sk) is up! :)

And, in a surprise twist, Part 5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqDSWvb5BkY), the final part, is up as well! :D
Sorry- I want to see this, but I haven't been home long enough to properly surf the net since Friday last week D: Tonight will be my first night I'm free >.< Did service all weekend and my first time back to the gym since my operation was on Monday. Oh man- that nearly killed me XD
Haha...it's cool, it won't be going anywhere. :)
You had an operation?
Yeah :) I few weeks ago now. You may not have noticed as I was bed ridden for a week and the only thing I could do was surf the net XD I had key hole surgery to see if I had endometriosis, which I did. It was only stage 1, btu the nature of endo means that stage 1 can be as bad to the host as stage 4 in pain. Stage 4 can have cysts and all sorts of nasty things, but the host could be walking around mostly pain free (except for that time of the month). It's the least invasive surgery out there, btu it still takes a while to recover from it :( I am on week... 3 I think? Or 4? I did 10 minutes of the treadmill, 10 of the bike, and 10 of the cross trainer, and then I tried 5 on the rower, but the rower is what broke the camel's back for me XD I managed 2 minutes on setting one before the pain hit and hit hard. I'm taking the rower out of my workout, and focusing on the other 3 tonight. I'm obviously not ready for it. It IS a pretty full on work out that machine >.>
Oh wow...that sucks! I'm sorry.....I hope you get better soon! Glad it's only stage 1, even if that doesn't help the pain much. :-\

Well, it's the location I think which is important, or chemical balance or something >.> I'm not sure if I'm 100% fixed though. I need to talk to my doctor about it. It may be post surgery things that are effecting me. I can't tell cause I've never had surgery before. I'm hoping that I'm just paranoid (again XD )
IT was weird though. Like watching House- except I'm the paitent. IT was so sureal :P
At least your doctors actually know what your issue is and don't have to formulate theories for unexplained symptoms. :P

Uh- that was the 6 months before the op. Don't worry- I went through ALL the drama :/
Oh... :P
It's ok- don't worry. It's not as if they had me in for many surgeries for it. Most of it was waiting for the actual surgery, but a good percentage of it sadly was trying out MASSES of pills to cure my pain. I have a miniature mountain of the stuff. That, and having the diagnostics before it. I'm scared of needles- I had MANY blood tests before I was diagnosed as MAYBE having endo >.> It's ok though. IT's all over now :) Don't worry about it too much ;)
Okay, the worrying shall now cease. Yay! Glad things are finally clearing up. :)
Me too :) I'm pretty keen to get back down to 60kg again and get my fitness level up. I've gained a good 10kg in weight since my problems started, and living in the country means I drive EVERYWHERE. I look forward to moving out to a flat where I can walk places finally :) I enjoy walking ^^
I do too.....when it's warm. If it's cold, I much prefer to drive.

Word- cause you guys get snow, eh? We don't get snow in Auckland, but we do get rain in mass, and that sucks
Well, snow is pretty much a hit-or-miss in my area, which is about the middle point of the country. The past few winters we have had snow, though. But mostly it's just cold in the winter, and since I'm on the coast, there's also a lot of wind and humidity, which makes it worse.
Auckland had a flutter of snow 50 years ago- that count? XD
Lol! Sure, why not? You gotta take what you can get. ;)
wow, great work! I just watched all parts, and now I am fully "up to date" to this part of the whole daventry saga, too!
I just wanna ask whether you are going to make a walkthrough for the next two KQ ... I find you're doing a great job, so I would actually wait for your walkthrough instead of watching another (crappy?) one on youtube ...
I know I could download the games and play them for my own (I have to say that i only played KQ7 ... now all the fans want to hit me, I know ... >.<) - i think I am a little too used to the newer stuff, so I would probably get angry with these old games. however, watching and shouting hints to you (although you can't hear them) is really funny. so let me know whether you're gonna do another walkthroughs.
thx !
Thanks; I'm glad you've enjoyed them! :)

Or (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/kings_quest_1_2_3) you could (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/king%E2%80%99s_quest_4_5_6) purchase them (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/king%E2%80%99s_quest_7_8). ;)
Yes, I will be continuing. I have a couple parts of KQV recorded, but I have yet to properly edit them. I've been busy with work (not anymore, though) and with trying to get caught up in IA's contest (darn you, Iceman!), along with doing a ton of RL stuff and losing several hours of my day because I can't stay up late anymore, so yeah. But it will happen, so keep an eye out for the thread. :)
For the record, I have already purchased KQI-VIII. But...
If you bought KQ today, probably none of the profits would go to the people that actually made the game. Works of technology like video games might as well enter the public domain after 20 years.
Okay.....so? They're still legally available for purchase. No, the money isn't going to Ken or Roberta or Jane or Al or anyone else who worked on the games, but that's not the point. The point is that it's legal to purchase them and illegal to download them. :)
Yes, you're right; I'm not debating the legality of it. But I buy games to support the developers. Otherwise you're supporting businessmen who have nothing to do with the game, really.
Duly noted. But why are we debating this here? All I did was point out that the games can still be purchased legally. Whether or not the devs get the money doesn't factor into the equation.
You're right, I seem to have created a tangent. Whoops. :P
Srry, I didn't wanna start a debate about downloading. Probably it has to be said that in Switzerland the whole morale about downloading is rather different - and also, it is legal there.
(But for 10 Dollars - I mean, that's rather a present for us. I'll consider it, hee hee.)
Anyway, I'll wait for your videos at first, I think I am that patient :D don't get stressed, I'm sure you will find the time to do your walkthroughs :D
Cool. Hopefully I can get at least one up this week. :)
