I can't believe I'm stuck on this but.....

how do I light the candle from AD's hut? Every time I try it says that the candle won't light.

Have you gotten past the guardian? If you haven't, you still can't light it.

Yes, I passed the guardian, went through the tower and back to the castle. I've gone to every fire, tried different items on the candle, but no good.

Have you offered the item to the rock in the sanctuary of the forest that the message encrypted is asking you for?
