Just thought we outta have a "Never buy this game" thread. ;)
Anyone ever play a game called "Lighthouse"? If so, you have my most sincere sympathy.
-Plot: There *WAS* a plot (unlike Adventure Company games.) It was just a very poor and incoherent one.
-Puzzles: The majority of the puzzles were indecipherable without a walkthrough. For example, there was a number lock which you had to solve to get into a certain area. The code was one of the designers b-days. There were NO hints and NO logical reasoning to figure it out. It was a pure trial and error puzzle (hundreds of possiblities.)
Horrible game. Never play it!

Oh, I don't even know of any games *that* bad!!! WOW!
Somebody's gonna post *MoE* here before long, mark my words.
Moe isn't a adventure game :suffer: ...so it doesn't belong here ; )
I didnt want to be boring and mention MoE. Besides, it might attract Storm the Destroyer. ::)

Of course MoE is an adventure game. At the very least, it's action/adventure.
And come on, it's not
that bad. It's crap as the 8th in the KQ series, but isn't an absolutely horrible game on it's own.
*goes and hides expecting the wrath of Storm* :-\
LOL, go storm go! :P
*cheers storm*
Go Storm! !!!
Anyway, Sounds like an Adventure Company game to me. Who needs a plot anyway? Most Action games sell four times better than adventure games without even a semblance of a plot. It takes brains to enjoy good storyline. Guess were in the minority. :P
I didn't even know they *could* make adventure games as bad as these!! I'm almost glad I never really branched out of the Sierra games!
i dont know any bad adventure games so im gonna sit back and watch Storm bash MoE ;D
*grabs the popcorn
I had forgotten Myst. Mainly I didn't like that because it had no people....some people might enjoy that, so I think I will just sort of ignore it. We'll pretend I never played it.
Sorry... but "Of Light And Darkness" really bugged me, mostly because it was such a lost effort - good graphics, sound and theme wasted on such poor gameplay. The game is First Person, but it doesn't even have puzzles like a FP adventure. I'm sure Myst at least had those ;)
BTW, "Of Light And Darkness" was made by Interplay. I don't think I ever played any game by Adventure Company :-\
Ahhh. That makes sense, then. Interplay makes fantastic RPGs, but those skills obviously don't translate well over to adventures.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Myst was very innovative and yet not in that way, I agree. Really you were doing all this stuff....for your own curiosity. Personally, my curiosity would've died down long before the end of the game. Or "end". That was what bugged me the most!! I wouldn't give Myst the worst game ever, but I would give it the worst ending ever.
**SPOILER**
You go and free Atrus (was that his name)? And he kills the two sons and then transports you back to Myst and...that's it. You can wander around the freakin' place but it doesn't actually END. You don't end up back wherever you came from, you don't get asked to do anything else...you just stand there. No credits roll, nothing.
WTF?!!
I didnt like Myst much either :-\. Not my kind of Adventure ;D. Friends next door couldnt pass it so they wanted me too so i could then help them pass it by giving hints :-\. After a week i handed it back and said not finishing it cos its not my bag ;)
I deleted Myst III: Exile off of my computer today. It sat there on my desktop and made me grimace, I never played it.
I actually feel much happier knowing that it's off of my computer. And, I can replace it with KQ7 if I ever get it! YAY!
Crystal Key is kinda bad, pretty graphics but no real plot.
