I have a quick question for you, oh wise people of KQIX!! A while back I did the online audition along with, I'm sure, a billion other people. I'm curious as to when we might be hearing about if we're in, or even if we're being considered. I'm REALLY not trying to be pushy... but.... well.... okay, yes I am... because I'm curious :) I of course don't mind waiting, (not that I have a choice anyway), but it's something that's been on my mind. I of course realize that you have to listen to all of them, decide who is good, who's okay, who sounds like a dying cat and so on... anywho... that's my question! Thanks and Cheers!
It'll probably be a while. If I'm not mistaken, they're not finished recording all the *real* voice actors, who applied in New York. They haven't begun to start thinking about *our* auditions.
A good way to get some immediate feedback is to request that your audition be posted in the "Online Auditions!" topic.
Yah, the recording isn't finished... in fact, I'm not even sure it's started.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Are the folks at KQ9 looking for talent (or those who think they have talent)? :)
we were!
on january of this year we held the live auditions in NYC and then we had the online auditions for such a while, did you miss them? :(
they're both now officially closed! sorry :/
Don't worry matey, my KQ IX project will require voice actors (unfortunatly due to various special restrictions the likeliehood of it reaching that particular stage is remote....)
We had the online auditions up for a very long time. I'm sorry you missed them.
I have finally downloaded all of the online auditions and can begin listening and casting them (this is going to take a while).
So much to do, so little time.
Since we have a deadline, and I have voices to cast, I've got to get cracking!
Yay! ;D Go Mike!
I just recorded with Michael this weekend, and I have to tell you, his dedication to this thing is absolutely staggering. He deserves the biggest freaking cookie on the planet for his efforts. Shockolate Sheep, maybe. But don't ever stay up until 2am with him when he's had 2 Diet Pepsis and an uber-large helping of rice pudding. It's frightening. ;)
Welcome Faith! Thanks for giving us a little insite into the recording...even if you didn't get to spill any of your favorite lines ;)
Welcome. :)
Just avoid the old/young Rosella... she's mean. ;-D
***looks at thread title
and yeah... I feel sorry for Mike. :P
Ah yes. I cannot give you specifics, but I can tell you there was a lot of yelling and screaming involved. Oh, yeah, and I had to scream a lot, too. :P
I kinda figured that should you have attempted to post specifics...the thread would've been modified VERY quickly :P
Hmmm...screaming...why would Rosella be screaming? *speculates*
Well, I really shouldn't be telling you this <looks around>, but... Rosella discovers that her nail polish has been discontinued at the end of Chapter 7. ;)
Don't listen to her about Mike being frightening after rice pudding and Diet Pepsi at 2AM.
... Mike is *always* frightening. :D (ducks)
It's way cool to hear more KQ9 voice acting experiences. Hopefully we'll get to hear a Rosella clip at some point! (After we hear a Narrator clip, of course... *cough* ;) )
Peace & Luv, Liz
Of course...we've gotta have our priorities straight...Narrator first...then Rosella :P
Naturally. I haven't heard the narrator yet. I haven't even really heard my own recordings yet. I hate listening to my voice. Still can't see it on her face. :P
I guess we all will see your voice on her face once the game comes out :P
Hee! Well, I'm biased in my priorities... you all don't necessarily have to agree with me! ;)
And I echo Faith's post. I haven't heard my own recordings yet, hate my voice, and can't picture "my" character using it. ;P
Peace & Luv, Liz
It's a pleasure to meet you, Rosella :) I'm -er... a big fan ::)
Howdy, rosellafan. Don't mistake me -- I'm not a Rosella, I just play one on TV--er, KQ9. Yeah. That's it. Anyhoo, I'm a big fan of hers as well, except when she's throwing her tantrums. I've gotten to know her better in the past week than I ever cared to! ;) But yeah, we may be big fans, but judging by the looks of that ogre, he's a bigger one. ;D
/me wonders if Rosella will show up... ::)
Faith!! How could you tell them about the nail polish?!?! That's like the key to WHOLE GAME!! :o :o :o
....
hehe. just kiddin' ;) I gotta say, I can't wait to hear your recordings, since I wrote a lot of Rosella's lines! Hope those, ahem... difficult words ;) didn't give you too much trouble! ;D
:suffer:
My sincerest apologies, oh Great One.
As for the words, you know bloody well that they gave me a good deal of trouble, because I had to consult you on how to pronounce them! :P
No worries, though. Mostly Michael just had me say each one once, and we're just going to plug the same recording into a bunch of different places.
Besides, I don't see what's so hard to pronounce about Revlon Midnight Mauve. ::)
Hmm sounds to me like hints of the magic system. Foreign words repeated over the course of the game sounds like casting spells.
I never said they were foreign. Big words, yes. And lines can be repeated over and over in various places. For instance, go back and play King's Quest 6 and check out how many times Alexander says "Zounds!" Could also be referring to names or inventory. And I don't know about you, but until the voice pack for KQ6 came out, I wasn't positive on how exactly one pronounced "vizier," or "Cassima," for that matter!! ;-D
Haha, oh yeah, "zounds"... poor geeky Alexander... :suffer:
Actually, I was writing a story that was a period piece, so I was researching medieval curse words, and it seems that "Zounds" was mainly British and comes from "God's wounds," which basically refers to the wounds Jesus sustained on the cross and whatnot. Also where the term "bloody" comes from. There's your historical linguistics lesson for the day. ;)

Yes, and some others are "Egad" and "Gadzooks".
Egad probably is a "softened" oath for "my God", and
Gadzooks is a corruption (like
Zounds) of the phrase "by God's hooks". The word "hooks" would have meant "nails", hence it's a oath sworn by the nails that pierced Jesus on the cross.
::claps:: I say, jolly good show, old chap!
:scholar:
:o Whoa, and I always thought they were just a bunch of goofy words! :suffer: Goes to show what I know! They're really quite morbid, eh? I still don't see how God's wounds = Zounds, though... :-\ That's REALLY distorted... it's the (God')s (w)ounds? Hm, I see, but it's a bit of a jump...
English is so weird. :P It really is.
I actually found an old post today that Erik started back last March about Zounds. Last page of "We're in Haven." I've got no time atm to go find the link. But it was an interesting post.
Is this what you were talkng about? (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=37;action=display;threadid=2197) :scholar:
Yeah. Thanks. I was actually going to come back and find it...but with my limited memory, I couldn't remember to do so when I had the extra time! XD
No problem! ;D
Found this interesting. A few weeks ago, I was at work talking to the owner of the store. I don't remember what we were talking about, but she did say "egads!"
Hehehe, maybe she should be hired for this project, eh? :suffer:
My first introduction to 'Egads' was Mr. Lodge, Veronica's father in Archie Comics... in the old ones, that's what he used to say! XD
Just been reading some of the progress, looks good! (What...I am giving words of encouragement, I can't think of anything else to say!)
