No, don't go thinking there's going to BE a KQ movie. But let's get theoretically and directory - what if there was? Who should get cast as who?
I vote David Boreanaz to play Alexander!! You may know as the man who reinvented dark & broody as Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then his own series, Angel. Pictures viewable here: http://www.chosentwo.com/buffy/gallery/angel/angel.php
Also, he's hot. Which is good for us Alex fangrrls! :lovegoggles: ;)
So! What other suggestions do people have? :)
I'm bumping my own topic so it goes back to the first page where it can be seen.
Cause I wanna! ;P
i wonder would Sean Connery go well as Graham ???, anyway there are many possibilities but im having trouble thinking of any at the moment ; \
BTW if David is in it can Sarah be Rosella, lol :suffer:
I thnk Sean Connery, while awesome, would be a bit too old for Graham. Oo! Harrison Ford! (Okay, so we based some drawings of our Graham off him...but it does work<grin>)
LOL, hmm...Sarah Michelle Gellar does have the blonde look but I don't know if she would fit personality/acting wise in it.
I stand by Nicholas Brendon as Alexander. Hey, he's from the same show. ;P
And I think Harrison Ford would work pretty well as Graham. Or, ironically enough, Robbie Benson.
I'm stumped on Rosella and Valanice too. I haven't seen many movies lately, so I'm way out of the loop on all the "it" actresses nowadays. I liked the actress who played Eowyn in LotR though... perhaps she might be a thought for Rosella?
Peace & Luv, Liz
Ahhh, Orlando Bloom as Alexander :lovegoggles:
I dunno...I can see Nicole Kidman as a Valenice...not quite sure why tho :S Or Gwyneth Paltrow
Cary Elwes as Graham...just coz I hav seen him in Robin Hood - Men in tights, and he suits the cap and tights :suffer:
And why not Kiera Knightly as Rosella...
Quotethe actress who played Eowyn in LotR though... perhaps she might be a thought for Rosella?
good point jeysie...or how about Julia Stiles![/glow]
Hmm how about
(http://64.106.163.111/albums/album90/bospremiere_nyc04.jpg)
Julia Stiles for Rosella?
There was another girl I can think of, but I can't remember her name. I thought it was Rachel Leigh Cooke but that's someone else. ;P
EDIT: Hahaha, I didn't even notice Kimmie thought the same too. ;D
Great minds think a like....oh ur poor mind neil ;P
Yeh apparently i look like Ms Stiles but i dont see it. Its only when strange people come up to me and say, *wow u look like Julia Stiles* and im like *wow, go away, I so dont*
ah...cassima- I think Christina Ricci...
Didn't Cary Elwes also play Westley in The Princess Bride? I agree, he's too young to play Graham, though.
What about Sam Neill? Not really your typical action hero actor, but then, Graham wasn't really a "macho" adventurer.
And can we have Gary Oldman as one of the bad guys? Maybe Alhazred? ;D
peace & Luv, Liz
but with the wonders of makeup today you can make nicole kidman hav a different nose...robin williams into a woman so surely we can age mr elwes :)
Brendan Fraser as Connor, lol ;)
Might Work ;D
You can't do that.... Brendan Fraser will be too busy playing Roger Wilco in the Space Quest movies. ;)
Peace & Luv, Liz
I saw Julianne Moore on TV today...I think she can fit in somewhere...
Cat
How about this:
Graham: Snoop Dog
Alexander: Vanilla Ice
Valanice: Beyonce
Rosella: Sir-Mix-a-Lot
Special bonus casting:
Alhazred: M C Hammer
;P
My vote is now that we......ban Renfrew from this thread! EEK! I'd *NEVER* see that movie!
i seriously think Brendan Fraser would rock as Connor ;B

NO WAY!! That is so wrong on so many levels ::)
For Connor, you don't need a drama/comedy actor like Fraser. You need some action-hero type, who's also very annoying... Ben Affleck for example :P
mmmm...Ben Affleck would make an awesome Connor...i agree...he is extremely annoying! How he become so popular is beyond me!
Cat
Ben Affleck doesnt have the right look for Connor nor the right build :-\, and Brendan Fraser was in the Mummy movies ;D, and in them he was definitely somewhat like Connor ;)
Brendan Frasier (Fraser?) would be a PERFECT Roger Wilco, agreed!!
Hmm..I dunno, I think we could find a better match for Connor.
Ian McKellen (sp?) for Mannanan -what do you think?
Robin Williams should voice Cedric. ;)
I love Ian McKellen...but I didn't know we were casting parts for KQ3...gives me another spin on things...have to rethink parts...

Brendan Fraser might have the right build, but not the right look... and he was nothing like Connor in The Mummy. Fraser was funny in The Mummy, Connor was just ridicules :P
Cedric is definitely a Robin Williams. Kudos to Bushie. Alexander should be Sean Bean, and Manannan should definitely be Christopher Lee.
Good call for Chistopher Lee as Mannanan!
But Sean Bean? Nuh-uh! Too old for starters.
And the fangrrl in me says not nearly cute enough. ;0 Davi Boreneaz! w00t!
Alexander should be played by Robby Benson. Well, he's the only guy I can think of for the job anyways.
Robbie Benson actually would have made a shibby Alex when he was younger, IMHO, but he's too old for the part now.
Peace & Luv, Liz
I couldn't think of anyone else that would be good for the job. At any point in time.
I think Neil would play a good Alex ; )
LOL! My avatar, u mean. :P
hahahha, well, I guess he could play that part pwetty well too ;-D
Haha, I still say early-Buffy David Boreanaz. He was thinner and less buill up then, and still hot ;) And he's got the whole dark & broody thing, and the forbidden/far away love thing! What with Alex's past, I think it's a fit. :D
I was thinking... If they made a movie based on the King's Quest universe, what actors would fit the parts best?
Our Graham looks a little bit like Harrison Ford. ;D Actually, he would probably work well as Graham in a movie.
The one guy that played Qui-Gon-Jinn would do good for Graham.

Liam Neeson. Yeah, that's not a bad choice either. :) I last saw him in Batman Begins. Man, that movie had a cool cast! Christian Bale (=Bruce Wayne/Batman) could maybe do Alexander. Maybe he's a little too rugged and old though... We haven't seen Alex as anything more than 20-21 when I think about it. Some young stars on the rise would undoubtley be the cast of preference for Alex and Rosella.
What about Valanice then? No famous actress comes to mind at this moment...
Btw, if they ever did a Leisure Suit Larry movie, there is one choice that would be so spot-on it's scary:
Rob Schneider!
He made that awful comedy Deuce Bigalow (granted, I still laugh at that "Jabba the s***" gag) and there he truly was Larry, minus the leisure-suit. I remember Al Lowe even said that! There were times when a real LSL movie was actually considered but it never came through, but this one is close, and Rob Schneider is the perfect Larry! ;D
As KQ villains, I'd like to see Christopher Lee as Manannan and Gary Oldman as Mordack. Or Bill Nighy, lol. ;D
Hey, maybe Emma Thompson could be Valanice?

How about the woman her sketch was based on: Julianne Moore? ???
Of course, she'd need a wig and some older-looking makeup to look like Valanice now, but she could pull it off. :P
I think that a LSL movie could be a little crazy...
Hmmm....
Rosella: Charlize Theron?
Alexander: Christian Bale
Heck, I don't know, this is difficult... ;D I love a challenge.
Me too. In D&D I always like to have puzzles in my dungeons. I have a new idea about a chest FULLL of treasure that says on it: Ye who opens this shall die. [spoiler]The thing is it doesn't say when so they don't die!XD XB

I agree, it's pretty tricky thinking up actors.
Alexander: Dougray Scott ?
Valanice: Julie Christie ?
One of the villens could be Arnold Schwarzenegger. On the end he will say: I'll be back
Yeah, but we don't want the KQ movie to be a trashy action film. We want it to go to the Academy Awards!
I think Cate bLanchett should be in it, but I don't know who she'd be. Maybe the Queen of the Winged Ones...?
No no no people. You don't just think up popular actors for movies like this, you cast for unknowns. Seriously, the best way for a movie like king's quest would be unknowns.
Graham would be an unknown DEFINATELY, it would be a joke to have any of the actors mentioned for him in that little hat of his.
Rosella I think could possibly be a popular actor but she needs to look more European. Not any of these pretty american girls. Actually, a Norweigan actress would work really well.
Valanice- Italian lady. Kind of like Kelly McGillis: http://www.peterweircave.com/witness/km.jpg
She's gotten older since Witness but Valanice isn't exactly young.
Alexander- Any number of guys could go for this Heath Ledger actually sounds pretty good although I think his face structure isn't ideal for the character. Orlando Bloom is a no no. Not only does he not look anything like Alexander but also I can't stand his acting. He conveys emotions generically and delivers them in such a insignificant way. As far as innovativness goes, he's nothing special.
Another possible famous actor for Alex is possibly Joseph Fiennes but he might be a tiny bit too old.
Director- TERRY GILLIAM! Best choice all around. His quirky touch to this would be perfect. The way he uses old methods instead of CG all the time for his special effects transports like no other director. If you've seen Brothers Grimm you know what I'm talking about.
Can I be a broom? XD
Or a guard dog? ::)
or even a peasant that gets eaten by a dragon XD
I should be cast as Rosella, no doubt about it. :P
you'd be THE REAL Rosella XD
I think that if there was a KQ movie, it should be KQ6, and that it should be like an Indiana Jones Movie. I dunno who would play the characters though... nobody really looks like them (that I can think of) >_>
Mel Gibson = King Graham. END OF STORY. ;) But I do like the idea of casting unknowns as some of the characters.
didn't we actually make this character/actor link before, to base our modelsheets on I mean. The ones that come to mind are:
Edgar: Heith Ledger
Cassima: Jennifer Connely
Alexander: Joaquin Phoenix
Graham: Harrison Ford
Valanice: Julie Andrews (could be nice)
..
.
oh, and these could be cool for some of the non-main characters:
Shadrack: Vincent Cassel
Hagatha: Helena Bonham Carter
Manannan: Christopher Lee
Azure: Antonio Banderas
Pawnshoppe Owner: Morgan Freeman
Jennifer Connelly is not exotic enough, I think, for Cassima. Cassima needs to be someone like Monica Bellucci.
why not use new people like what was done in Tomb Raider? :P
Cameron Diaz or Reese Witherspoon for Rosella, mabye?
Well you still can't get away from the fact that no video game to movie transfer has ever been good (there's a curse). If you say tombraider was an exception, I will pummel you.

*Prepares to be pummeled.* XD
I don't know - maybe the Halo movie will break that curse. It's one of the few FPS's out there with a good plot.
Yeah, but it's based on an Xbox game, so it's evil by default. :P
And also the characters in Halo are generic with no real depth. In order to bring realism to the characters, elements of the plot will be tampered with mostly just for the sake of limited screen time so they can fit in scenes that expand on characters.
*pummels Farquhar with a veangance*
Good point. Most of the characters are just cannon fodder. *shrugs* At least the soundrack should make Moody happ-ay! ;D
I was kinda annoyed with the Doom movie, because of the whole plot change :-\
There've been movies based on video games? :P
Are you kidding? There have been plenty of movies based on video games. And none of them were good. :P As for video games based on movies, that MIGHT work out once in a while, but they're usually awful.
First one that comes to mind as awful awful awful is the live action street fighter movie.

Super Mario Bros. movie. ;)
I have. My statement still stands. ::)
Thankfully I haven't seen the Mario Bros. movie :P

That one was very awful.
If you were to find out that a King's Quest movie (or series of movies) was going to be released in theatres, what would you think?
What characters would you REALLY want to see in the film? What villains? What plot/storylines? What locations? What kind of mood would you want the film to have and would you want it to mirror the feel of, say, a Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings?
If the film could be broken up into parts (sequels to come), how would you want the film's storylines to be broken up? Exactly like the games themselves, or combine, say, KQ1 and KQ2 for film number one, and KQ3 and KQ4 for film numbertwo, etc etc.?
Let me know what you think! I'd love to hear your opinions!
TheLostKing
A lord of the rings feel would be terrible. Epic landscape shots with triumphant music while Graham picks up a clover. You'd need a quirky director like Terry Gilliam (though i doubt he would ever accept such a project) that knows how to work with smaller scales of fantasy. Also, I just don't think King's Quest would make a good movie. it has great characters and plot but in context for a game. When you take that interactive quality out of it, there isn't as much there. Adventure games have a very thorough and intricate style that involves a lot more information than can be portrayed on film or even could be deemed unentertaining if just visual.
