Considering at the moment everyone is having these joyful, wonderful, marvellous, fantastic, easy, i-can-do-it-standing-on-my-head exams then i think we should hav a thread to say good luck to these people.
Firstly a special mention for Say who did fantastically well ;D

What exams have you taken, Yonkey? Also, what exams has Say taken? I am just curious so I can be up to date on this topic. Hope you do well, Neil.
I've taken a lot hahah, but if you mean this term:
Operating Systems Principles
Elements of Discrete Mathematics
Analysis and Design of User Interfaces
Professional Software Engineering Practice
Introduction to Geology
are the ones I've had, and the one I have tonight is:
Advanced Object Oriented Analysis and Design ;D
QuoteAdvanced Object Oriented Analysis and Design
i doubt i could remember the title of the exam let alone anything else :suffer:[/glow]
Haha, I don't remember the titles either. I had to go to the my program's courses page to find out what they were all called. We usually just call it "OO" or "Bennett's class". ;D
:suffer: sounds about right...hey we cant usually remember our teachers name so we call her *miss sociology*
Oh yeh, and new message.
Alex had a music exam today I think...so i hope that went well 4 ya hun :)
GOOD LUCK TO ALL :O
Say, dont go thru the emotional breakdown alone...I wish there was an ecard to express well wishes against such an evil force, perhaps there is, the internet has such a wide market as regards to these occasions :S if i find one, i will send it to you, coz i didnt send the congrats on the thesis card bcoz it was just this book that moved around a bit and it wasnt very exciting...anyway i will stop rambling now, coz i hav had too much sugar and my tooth hurts :'(

Exactly!
Oh well, good luck to anyone who has to take some more exams before he/she graduates in the capacity he/she wants to be in. 8)
oh yeh, and please tell us how u did in this thread too, coz i am nosey and want to know every last detail,
thank you ;D
Well, as we're talking about good luck and what not...I offer congrats to Alex for doing so well with his performance yesterday (not like he's going to find this thread, but can't say I didn't try). For all those who are about to start exams, I wish you luck...you'll be in my thoughts! At our school, exams start on Wednesday, but my first two are on Friday...then one the following Mon and Tues...then I'm off for about 5 days, and then the May-mester starts (a three week course during May). So, as I'm sure I'll say later...I may begin to disappear over summer...between classes and work, and driving (poo on the 1 1/2 drive!), who knows when I'll be able to get on!

My last exam was pretty good! There was one question that took ages to do. If it weren't on there, everyone would have finished in the first hour for sure. It was a 50 mark question, and the first 2 parts of it were fine, then the 3rd was
Write out as completely as possible the code for ALL the functions above.
Ugh, how annoying, writing code without a compiler is hard enough, but doing it for twenty functions on an exam was just ridiculous. At least he said do it in whatever language you like, including pseudocode. So I used some form of Java, pseudo and abstract methods (lol for all the non-programmers out there, that means the code I wrote was highly simplified :suffer:).
Anyway, I think he just put it on there so that people took the full 3 hours to do the exam instead of leaving after the 1st hour. ;-D
Quote(lol for all the non-programmers out there, that means the code I wrote was highly simplified
woohoo, im learning the jargon! XD
Wel congrats neil for finishing...whilst others are just begining...like me and cat ...*breaks donw into a teary strop* :'([/glow]

That's the only drawback to school: exams. :-\
QuoteThat's the only drawback to school: exams.
that, and the fact u hav to do work :suffer:[/glow]
And homework. And pass your classes. :(
There's lots of drawbacks to school.
Yes, but try having health problems on top of it, CC. More work than I like to do. Plus, being in class with health issues is an issue in and of itself...
I always loved sitting on the back in highschool, because I hated highschool and I felt always molested by stupid classmates, on the other hand, when I got in college I used to sit on front till the very last days of my class, cuz it was better to get all the atention and hear better the teacher, I did sit exactly on the left side front, RIGHT UP where the desk of the teacher is... yeah Im that nerd :P
I can be comfortable anywhere in a classroom, except the seat closest to the door or any seat with my back up against a window. My favorite place to sit, however, is the back corner of the room away with my back against the wall. I hate sitting straight in desks.
i never enjoyed sitting in any class... no matter what position... but i found out that the teachers were much more pleased with me if i sat in the back, because they didn't liked it, when i was sleeping in the front ; ) ...hahaha, of course i only did that (ie.sleeping) at highschool ;-D ...i was a serious student at college (ehh.... ; )
HAHAHA sleeping at class wtf rob?! :P bad bad rob ;P
well.... actually it isn't my fault! ; ) ...it is the teachers, they have to make those classes more intresting...
lol, ok, guess it is my fault ; ) ...but .... ; )
I tend to sit either at the middle or back and almost always the aisle seat. ;D I like being able to get in and out of there quick. ;)
Oh and passing classes is not the same as passing homework and tests. ::) I'd say passing classes is very similar to passing exams though (especially finals). XD
QuoteI tend to sit either at the middle or back and almost always the aisle seat. I like being able to get in and out of there quick.
Always important.
Never leave yourself without a quick escape route !!!
Personally, I'm one of the front row nerds :). I just like being able to see and hear the lecturer.
And good luck to everyone with exams at the moment :D
I just always sat where there was an available seat in class.
Some people just don't like me on their laps.
I KNOW, I KNOW! It's hard to believe....but it's true! :D
You must not have gone to my school. There's plenty of people who I'm sure would let you sit on their laps. Heck, they might even let me sit on their laps.
I never cared too much where I sat in class. Sitting in the front may let me see the blackboard better, but that benefit is counterweighted by the embarrassment of falling asleep right under your teacher's nose :P
And the worst part of highschool wasn't exams or homework or boredom... it was spending all day with other people :X
is it embarrasing for you to fall asleep? ...i guess it is more embarrasing for the teacher ; ) lol, I always like to sit next to the window, cuz looking outside helped me to kill time when i failed to fall asleep ; )
lol, serious, at highschool, most math and sience classes i fell asleep or wanted to ; )
...i never fell asleep in college, although i did read the newspaper sometimes when the teacher started to explain something for the 8237494th time (or the 2nd time) to someone, ...nothing wrong with that(explaining), but not really worth my attention ; )
It is embarrassing when the teacher wakes you up screaming in front of the whole class... plus there's the drool factor :X
Falling asleep in college was much easier, especially in the computer labs. I could always hide behind the computer and take a nap (when I wasn't busy doing my home exercises on it, that is) :P
I never really did home exercises, unless they were needed to get my grade... I tried, but there were far 'importent' things to do ; )
...lol, but i never fell asleep in the computer labs cuz we always played network games there... yeah, I was a serious student the first year in college ::), after that i got myself a laptop and never played those games anymore, and i never got into those lab classes either...
I only did the sleep and drool during french class in grade 10. Very sexy. The ladies loved it.
Never fell asleep in class... due to my inability to fall asleep in anything other than a lying-down position, not for lack of ever desiring to. ;)
Instead I spent boring classes reading science fiction novels carefully hidden behind my textbooks.
Peace & Luv, Liz
Yeah, I don't fall asleep in class often. I have to be *very* tired and the room has to be *very* dark and the class has to be *very* boring and the stars have to be aligned just right....
But it does happen occasionally. And last time, somehow, I managed to take notes anyways. It was eerie.
The only trouble I had with sleeping in class is keeping myself from doing it. I was constantly tired and all I needed was a table to put my head on... sometimes even one of those wide armrests you write on was enough :P
I haven't literally fallen asleep in class before, but I have been unable to keep my eyes open during several lectures. XD
I've seen people sleeping and doing the same as me in class before to, so I don't really feel that embarassed if it happens. :P Plus, I think it's good if the prof actually notices you falling asleep; they finally realise they're boring as hell! :D
Sometimes I'm taking notes and I start falling asleep during the note-taking, and when I jerk myself awake I find an odd illegible scribble on my paper. ;)
Yeah, but these notes were legible! Well, as legible as anything in my handwriting.
Recently I've been kinda nodding off almost to the point where i get that neck jerk thing going on lol. The worst thing was last year in Paris when everyone there had been up till about 7AM (apart from teachers of course) and we had to go to a conference on economics and politics for 6 hours. About half an hour in, and the entire row was just asleep with like everyones head on the shoulder of the eperson next to them. But the seats were comfy and it was warm so i guess thats the only time i did actually fall asleep...
Oh my gosh, that's hilarious!! Let's see...I don't know if I've ever fallen asleep in a class, unless I've been sick! I've had many times (especially in one class this semester) where the teacher is so boring and I just doodle...take a couple of notes...and then doodle some more!
Cat
Class? Yea once upon a time I used to go to those…
*represses bad memories XB*
Oddly I would fall asleep typing notes on my PowerBook, wake up a few moments later and find that I’d kept typing and kept up with the lecture ok… sadly the effect was never reliable enough to do try on a regular basis.
Right now I’m watching all our students prepare for papers, exams, and final projects. Good work to everybody who’s already gotten through their “obligations†good luck to those who still have a little to go! :D
if i am tired, i sleep in my free periods under the study areas desk with my best friend dionne, with our stereos, some food and coats over our heads, it really quite comfy...ah school, the second home...which doesnt necessarily supply a bed- but you can just make one! ;D

Nope, it's the teacher's fault.
I sometimes have to attend afternoon sessions to keep up-to-date about new develoments in my field of expertise. If the speaker doesn't make it interesting enough, I feel a strong urge to close my eyes. If it's interesting, that doesn't occur.

Even when in a lying-down position, I have trouble falling asleep if my biorhythm doesn't signal the rest of my body it's time to sleep. Besides, when I sleep, I sleep for hours, I can't do short naps.
I've never fallen asleep during classes though, the seats were never comfortable enough. ;D
