To clarify, there are actually two locations you need to visit in the maze:
The scroll labels them both on the new pages that become available where one page is for finding a lock and another page is helping you to find a key.
Here's some really specific hints to help you there:

First scroll image:
The first image you gain access to on the scroll after reading the plaque on the statue is a poem.  The names of the maids start with N, S, E, and W like the directions on a compass.  If you start at the reflecting pool where you collect the broken lamp and ignore everything in that poem except the names of the maids and use those as directions when you get to the end of the maze you will be at the location where one of the items can be dug up.
Second scroll image:
The second image is siimply a photograph of a specific place in the maze where you should dig for the second item.  The photo is taken from the perspective of standing right in front of the gazebo where the music stands are looking toward the statue.
I found the key, but I need some help finding the lock... Could someone post better directions? I can't make out what's in that picture...

I had a hard time with this too, since I seem to have a lot of technical issues with the scroll.
To get to the lock you need to head left from the gazebo into that maze section.  Try looking for an area which resembles the photo; Graham will be facing you when you're in the right spot.  It isn't far to go.
Sorry but this is insane, i have no idea where to start or where to start reading from.  ???
Title: Re: darn maze

I think we're supposed to start reading from
The lady sat at the pool. Be there at that point when you start reading and make a little note of how the directions go according to those names.
And you will SEE when you found the spot.
You will get a close-up on graham digging when you find that spot,
Its talking about going West South North to begin with and there are Two South Paths and no North, could someone take a Screenshot and mark a Yellow Line straight to the Spot please.

You don;t follow the first line. The first lines are only introduction - a suggestion to see the names as compass directions, so to speak. You do NOT follow these first directions.

You folow from the woman sat at the pool. I'll see if I know how to take a screenshot..

Then the TSL Team need to know when to Bold the right Words, thats why im confused, i just do what the entire First Letter say.

Post by: AzzyGale on November 07, 2011, 08:36:16 AM
Well you do
take the first letters of the names of servants.
What I meant is that you don't go according to hiow they are first introduced in the first line. You start reading from whe she sat at the pool.
sorry, it;s the best I could do....if I take a scren on full size, it pastes in something black. Buty I think it gives it away perfectly anyway.
I AM having problems with the picture, though....I am very bad at perspectivisation and have no spatial imagination...so I keep trying to picture how the photo was taken and go left from precisely that point. Nothing...nothing yet, that is.

Are you kidding me, the last part tells me to go West and obviously theres a Maze Grass in the way, so i go East,  Worst Directions Ever. Thank You
Title: Re: darn maze
Post by: AzzyGale on November 07, 2011, 08:56:17 AM
The letter says
her last maid Nora INTERRUPTED Wandea AND BEFORE turning to Elena told her lady to stop right there:  meaning go north, and since you cannot go West (because the path is "interrupted" or "blocked") so you must stop before you turn East
, which is exactly right there at the screenie point.

You're welcome.  :) Glad I could be of some help.

I'm having trouble finding the lock. My game's glitching, so I can't access the page in the scroll anymore despite still being in the maze. Can someone post a screenshot of where to find it?
Title: Re: darn maze
Post by: aeisa on November 07, 2011, 09:49:01 AM
I can't post a screenshot, but for the lock:
Go through the gap opposite (direct left) the hedge you cut with the shears, then head south.  It's at the bottom of that first souherly path, with the gazebo still in full view.
Thanks, there was no second image on the Map to tell me where to find the Lock.

All you need can be found in the scroll after you've read the statue, really. The poem is easy, the photo is a bit of guesswork, however, because the perspective it shows is so..interesting :D I was actually a bit confused by this something on the left hand side of the image shown in the scroll..hence I thought I should go to the left of the side from which it was taken from haha.

I cant even find the KEy let alone the lock and even if i do i have nothing to dig with man this maze was a bad idea guys
Title: Re: darn maze
Post by: AzzyGale on November 07, 2011, 10:46:37 AM
Yes, it's evil muahaha but most of it conforms to rules of adventuring since you need something else before you get there.  It's a lovely maze, esp. the poem. And I have a feeling there is something even more evil on the waya haha, on with the challenges.

Anyway, to find something to dig it with you need to explore the Beast's Castle thoroughly- and BE CAREFUL in there. You may need to get something  else first before you manage to get what you need for digging....

There is something else.

Think King's Quest VI. Alexander needed  something like that there too..

Hi,

Already discovered the locations, but... do I need a Shovel? I can't dig with my hands.

Ok, I played KQ6 re-read the walkthough and I don't remember entering a dark cellar in the Beast Castle. I remember doing that in cassima's castle with a paintbrush.

I tried to find the hunters lamp... but, i can't find it. Im just stuck stuck.

So after a while I found the spot. Is something supposed to happen? Do I need a shovel that I get from somewhere?

Yea, you'll need a shovel.
Have you looked around everywhere in the Beast's castle?

You'll need something Alexander used in KQ6 when he had a similar problem with darkness.
More explicitly,
Alexander keeps some mementos from KQ6 in his room.
Ok, here's the situation:

I found the key and lock (by myself, without any hints :P), dug the key out, dug the place where the hole is (it even told me there's a lock and a door behind it when I did), but then I got stuck. Supposedly, I'm supposed to use the key with the lock, right?

Well, I can't! In fact, after digging at the location of the lock (confirmed by the fact I was told I found it, and the close up), I can't seem to do anything with it: can't look at the lock, can't use the key on it etc.

Since the lock is close to the fence which was blocking the view of the lock dig site, I moved a bit back where I could see the hole and tried again using the key again on the hole, but again - nothing!

Am I missing anything or is it a bug?

Please - no spoilers guys.. I'd like to finish it alone. Just let me know if it's a bug or not. Thanks! :)
What are you trying to unlock?

A lock and key aren't much good without something to hold closed...

Put the lock into the statue, THEN unlock it.

This space intentionally left blank  :suffer:

Oh damn, I didn't realize the lock was added to my inventory.. :P

I assumed the lock was still in the ground and I needed to use the key on it to open something that'll give me access to the statue.

Of course there's only one place the lock will fit into ;)
Cheers flitchard!

A shovel.  If you don't have one yet then explore this island some more.
