Title: [FIXED]Decided to try this game out (Category: Misc)
Post by: Quest For Glory Fan on December 01, 2011, 04:57:03 AM
How come there's no easy way to just install Episode 1? Instead I have to download 1.7 gigs of Episodes 1-4. Seems like it's hard on the bandwith for everyone especially if I only end up playing for 20 minutes. Also why is it literally 9 different clicks to get from the games tab at the top of the page to the actual download link.

Update: Can't get the game to run, it opens 3 windows under the same icon 2 of which are grey and one is black, audio for the intros plays. I tried the Win7 patch and got the same thing.

Can you post more information on your actual computer, like what version of Windows you're running, how much RAM you have, what type of video card your computer has, and how much dedicated video memory that card comes with?  Thanks!

Try totally uninstalling the game, then run the installer again and when it asks for a destination directoy give it just C:\TSL .  Sometimes having it in the default Program Files directory causes some unexpected odd issues with Windows 7.  See if that makes any difference when you run it.

I initially tried C:\games\Silver Lining but I'll try the default and directly on C.

No matter where I install the game I still get 3 windows open, audio works but no video.

Hm I can't even begin to think of why it's opening several windows for you.  Some people with multiple processors have had to make some adjustments to the affinity settings in the task manager, though it may also help for you to adjust the compatibility settings for the game to run as though it were under Windows XP.

The game was designed for one core or two? I'm currently running four so playing with the affinity might do it.

It's designed for only one.
