Title: GOG's Activision Sale... Including Phantasmagoria 1 & 2
Post by: DawsonJ on March 09, 2012, 12:44:53 PM
GOG is having an Activision (http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_assortment?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=game_subject&utm_campaign=activision_assortment) sale, which is rather common. However, I noticed that PHANTASMAGORIA 1 & 2 are each on sale. (I forgot there was a second game.)

I just wish GOG could add some more of Activision's backlog. Quest for Glory and Leisure Suit Larry come to mind. I hope they can do that this year sometime... As well as add some more publishers. There's no excuse to not have LucasArts as a publisher.

ActiVision sold the rights to Leisure Suit Larry so they can't sell it anywhere. There's no excuse for QFG, though, unless they just can't get QFG5 working on modern systems properly (though I'm pretty sure there are fan patches that make it possible).

I wasn't aware they had sold the rights to LSL. Alright, well that explains the lack of LSL. As for quest for glory, I've never actually played the series, but I am very interested in doing do. I just want to buy the games off gog.

No worries. The lack of Larry on GOG will be strongly compensated with the release of a new one with Al Lowe in charge this autumn ;).

Don't mislead him, it's not a new game. It's HD remakes of the old ones.

That's like calling the 1991 Larry 1 VGA "not a new game". Ok then, it is a remake with new graphics, new music, voice over acting, new lines and a new interface.

...Right. It was a remake, but if you've played the original, you've played this one, save some easter eggs (I'm assuming. I don't remember any, but that seems like something Sierra/Al Lowe would do :P).

Don't get me wrong; I'm highly looking forward to it, but I doubt it's going to have much aside from updated graphics and maybe music. I don't expect whole new dialogue scenes, but even if there are, it doesn't change the game much.
