Title: Gog.com getting "bigger, fresher, newer" on march 27th
Post by: dark-daventry on March 24, 2012, 09:58:01 AM
So, gog.com (http://www.vg247.com/2012/03/24/gog-com-to-become-bigger-fresher-newer-on-march-27/) will be getting bigger, fresher and newer on march 27th, apparently. I'm excited. I sincerely hope they add some new publishers and games. Any thoughts on what might happen? Personally, I'm hoping for a lot. The addition of lucasarts as a publisher (along with their games), the addition of some newer games like Myst IV and V, and maybe adding Quest for Glory? Who knows what will happen... Anyway, speculate away about what they have planned!

It's been known for some time now that they don't want to stick to just doing old games and want to start selling DRM free new games as well. That's probably the bulk of the additions/changes that will happen.

I figured it was something along those lines. We'll find out on Tuesday I guess.

All right, I don't know all the changes, but it appears they've added some newer games - and will also hopefully be carrying games by indie developers and such in the future.  Who knows?  They might be carrying something like "Cognition" in the future.

Whispered World is up there. Also Legend of Grimrock. I saw a video of this game a while back in progress and I thought it looked fantastic. It's an old-style RPG dungeon crawler type deal but with modern graphics. Yet you still take one step at a time as if it was sprite based. Turn left, move forward, turn right, move forward, fight an enemy on screen, etc. It looks really neat. And the last addition is the first Trine.

I don't know much about Grimrock, but Whispered World is a good adventure, if not a bit quirky for your average gamer. Also, you can't go wrong with Trine. Trine is a classic. I just hope the sequel can go on sale, so I can pick it up for cheap. It's a nice start, but I hope this opens more doors for GoG.
