Seen as though rob made the new movie thread, im making the old movie thread.
I love old musicals, such as singing in the rain, seven brides for seven brothers, anchors aweigh.
I <3 Gene Kelly. not only was he a fantastic dancer but he was also rather cute in his day!
anyway add your own favourite old movies, movie stars!
EDIT- erm hellooooo there hav been numerous view of this post, but no1 has put anything...ahem come on ppl some of u must like old films...think about jason and the argonauts...the way all those mosnters moved *shudder*
How old does it have to be?
nice initiative Kim!! ...but I have the same question as the Fat Emu, how old may the films be?? ...like 10+ years, 20+ ....30+??
anything that you want!
i was focusing on old musicals and films like gone with the wind etc, but absolutely anything u want!
it could be 1980s- Splash, Ghostbusters (oh that theme tune)
it could be 90s, 20s,60s...whatever!
oh and we can also discuss favourtie old tv shows, either *old tv shows* like bewitched...or tv shows from when you were young- seasame st, THUNDERCATS! (i loved that and love the theme tune)
hmmm two movies i like:
Run Forest!! Run!!
Run Luke!! Run!! (actually that was from part IV, ...but this movie is better ; )

aaaaaw forrest gump! bless tom hanks!
I <3 jim carrey he is soooo funny
So, "old movies" are all the movies that weren't released this year? ;P
Ok, some old favourites of mine:
Angel on my shoulder (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038300/)
His girl Friday (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032599/)
To be or not to be (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035446/)
A night in Casablanca (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0038777/)
Irma la Douce (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057187/)
Some like it hot (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053291/)
Gaslight (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036855/)
Camille (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028683/)
Snatch and Seven were really good movies too, but I'm not sure if they're considered "old movies" or not. XD
Only black & white movies should qualify as old. Or movies that have really bad colors :P
Hmm, I don't wanth many B&W films, but The Wizard of Oz was a good one with horrible colours! :D

Some of the old bad coloured movies have been enhanced ;), but the actors i listed are old ;D, most of them are dead :-\ :'(, they were really good actors too :-\
how about all movies before 1990?? I mean i was really young then and i consider movies from then old ;-D ...hahaha, don't know much b&W movies either, but a movie i did liked was labyrint!! :lovegoggles: ...don't know if it is as great as i remember, and i don't want to find out ;-D
I remember Labyrinth! Except I was only a couple of years old when I first saw it, and it seriously freaked me out :P
hahahaha, it freaked me out!! at least when i first saw it ; ) ..i was like whaaaa!! weird ppl/thingies/something ; ) ...needless to say i was young too ; )
dya know what, i really dont lmao :suffer: im thinking the first is from show boat, but i hav no idea lol
oh and btw, labyrithn still rocks! Im still in love with that little blue worm with the scarf...not the best pic of him, but mehhhh! ;P
I liked Mississippi Burning with Gene Hackman, it was very sad but in a way it touched me and i have loved the movie ever since :), OMG that reminds me i know what i was gonna spend that money on now :o
Maybe we should go with "old movies are movies that were made before you were born". The B&W definition isn't that good, when you consider movies like Schindler's list (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108052/) or In the bleak midwinter (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113403/) (two other favourites of mine).
hmmmm... moveis before i was born?? ughh... ehhh... Indiana Jones!! yay!!
ah shindlers list...that bit with the girl in the red coat....and then then bit where the girl gets shot, and then other other bit where the mans head gets....ok stop here coz its gross
It's not that gross. At least it's doesn't have mutilation scenes that show blood and gore in full color for the shock value, like some other movies ::)
I'm not sure that movie was made for entertainment purposes. Considering what it is, it is a good movie.
P.S. I never watched the whole thing, so you might want to ignore this post.
Robocop, Alien, Terminator, Pink Panther, James Bond i could go on but i dont know alot about movies b4 i was born :P
Yeah, but all of those movies had sequals made AFTER you were born ;B
The Pink Panther didnt have films mad after i was born :P, unless you are including the Son of the Pink Panther movies ;), but then they sucked and arent classed as being sequels ;D
Yes they are! as much as the Bonds movies are sequals at least ;)
Anything with Abbot and Costello (Who's on First?)
Just about any musical, current or old! lol...*decides to head to the library and rent some musicals this weekend...now if only I can remember it when I get home!*
Cat
Alfred Hitchcock.
North By Northwest <3
The Birds <3
Vertigo <3
Psycho <3
I would have to say any abbot and costello movie or any movie made by mel brooks (young frankinstien) <3
Silent Movie! ;D Awesome Mel Brooks production.
Also Mel Brooks... though most of his films were made after I was born and in color ;)
Beverly Hillbillies. I didn't know till I visited this site that Buddy Ebsen died. He lived to a good old age though.
Beverly Hillbillies (http://www.pcperspectives.com/hillbillies/)
P.S. He died last year
Mississippi Burning was made in 1980's but i reckon it was just before my birth :P, and other movies oh Dead Poets Sociey with Robbin Williams ;D
I can't remember the name, but I'll guess it was called The Kentuckians.
This is one of my favorite movies. It takes place in the early days of Kentucky(I think), as in Daniel Boone. A traveler stays at a family's house, and the only dauther(of the family) takes a liking to him. The girl says he's going to marry her, and he says he's not going to marry her. It basicly goes like this thru the whole movie. It probably wouldn't be called a musical, but it has the "feel" of one. It also has a very good theme song.

The Fearless vampire killers :suffer:
My Favorite Movie of all Time
It's a Wonderful Life (yes folks Black and White) ;)
Jim Bowie(the TV series) !!!
:o never heard of that!
It's a Wonderful Life, or Jim Bowie. ::)
P.S. Do you know who the REAL Jim Bowie was?
I have no idea who the real Jim Bowie was.
As in that guy from the Alamo who had what is now called the Bowie knife??
My goodness, if I'm right, that's twice in the past few days that my history classes have proven useful! And I haven't had history in at least 2 years! XD
QuoteAs in that guy from the Alamo who had what is now called the Bowie knife??
Yep.
I'm from Louisiana, so it would be hard for me not to know who he is(though he's not as well known in Louisiana, as he is in Texas). He's thought of the same way in Louisiana, as Davy Crocket is thought of in Tennessee.
TV series theme song.
He roamed the wilderness unafraid
From Natchez to Rio GrandeWith all the might of his gleaming blade
Flashing from either hand
Jim Bowie! Jim Bowie!
He was a fighter, a fearless and mighty adventurin' man!

Funny, I haven't heard of Davy Crocket in years :P But at least I know who he is!
He(Davy Crocket) wrote an autobiography. I know a guy that has the book, maybe I'll ask to borrow it later.
Getting back on topic.
I like Oliver Twist, sometimes the songs get stuck in my head.
Oliver, Oliver
Never Before has a boy asked for more
He'll rue the day, somebody named him Oliver!
P.S. Kimmie(or anyone for that matter), time to start posting in here again. ;D
I know who Davy Crocket is. I just did not know his real name.
Has anyone in the forum, been compared to an old movie star(looks/speech/behavior/etc)?
I've been compared to Jerry Lewis(which I find disturbing). :P
Someone drew a picture of mine head and put a poke'ball next to it and compared it. Does that count?
I don't think so. :-\ :P
Anyone here watched Annie(the movies)?
If so, which do you think is better, the first or the second(remake)?
Personally, I don't care too much for either, but I prefer the original/first movie. SOMEBODY POST!!!
I've only saw the origional, and well... I didn't liked it ...must have been because i was kinda forced to see it 3 times or so :X :X
I've watched both Annies... can't remember the plot now though. XB
I've read both books, the regular one and the movie book :P
The main thing I remember about the regular book, is that the character's eyes were painted blank (all white). It was really creepy, and I wondered why it was done that way :S
It's Zombie Annie!! :o Run for your lives!! :bomb:
Two of my favorite old movies are Being There and Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
Silent Movie is awesome, a Mel Brooks parody of silent movies everywhere! XB
you already said silent movie
i love any movie directed by stanley kubrick
Dr.Strengelove
Clockwork Orange
2001:A Space Odessy
The Shining
and others
The Back to the Future trilogy was good
and the Marx Brothers were good but Duck Soup Was the Best :stabs:
