lol, I'm a walkthrough junkie too.  Once I get stumped at a point and literally have no idea what to do next, I have to check out a walkthrough.  As soon as I see what to do, I'm usually ok.  But if I get stuck again, I revert to the walkthrough.

Sometimes I do it, just to see the proper order of events.  But this is only if the game has multiple endings and I missed out on some points somewhere.  8)

I'm a UHS Hints junkie. ;)

I only use a walkthrough while playing a game if looking at all the hints doesn't help, or there isn't a hint file available. I sometimes read a walkthrough *after* I finish a game to see if I missed anything exciting.

Peace & Luv, Liz

Yes UHS files can be as bad as walkthroughs. Even though they give one hint at a time because there is nothing stoping you from takeing a few more looks. :(

True, but at least with UHS Hints if you cave in and look at all the hints for a question, you're only spoiling that one puzzle. (If you're looking at all the hints for most of the questions, you might as well be honest with yourself and read a walkthrough instead. ;) )

well I am more of a GEEKthan a NERDbecause NERDSare smart. A place were I am lacking. A GEEK is mostly smart in subjects unimpotant to school and work. Like I am a GEEK in adventure games and movies.

So I am a GEEKAnd I am PROUD!

To give you an idea of how bad I am... I'll use words like "existential" or "vernacular" in an everyday conversation. :S Yes Say, you really are in love with a nerd!

I had to resort to a walkthrough with nearly every game I finished. But I'm on the 12-step program now. I've been clean for about 6 months... of course I haven't played any games during that time :P

I've heard of UHS, but never figured out how to use it ???

The easiest way is to go to the website (http://www.uhs-hints.com/hints/allhints.php). See if there's a "View" option for the game you want, and click on it. Then choose what part of the game you're stuck in, and choose the question/puzzle you're stuck on.

The idea is that you read the hint, and try to use it to go back and solve the puzzle. If it's not enough, you go back to the page and choose "Show another hint". And so on, until you either solve the puzzle on your own, or show all the hints for that puzzle (the last of which is usually the flat-out solution).

Using the off-line program is a little more annoying, but works on the same principle.

Peace & Luv, Liz

First thing I do when I get stuck in a game is go and see if there's an uhs hint file available. However, sometimes I'm stuck where directions are concerned and at one instance (JTCOTE) even the uhs-file couldn't point me in the right direction so I had to revert to a walkthrough temporarily, and even then I still had trouble finding the right spot.
I always download the uhs hint files but there's a serious downside to that for me. You see, since I then have that hint file, my efforts into solving puzzles on my own are greatly reduced. :-\

JTCOTE?

One game I had difficulty on, even with a walkthrough, was Beneath a Steel Sky. I kept getting tripped up on one puzzle, and even reading all the hints *and* the walkthrough, I still couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. After a bit of thinking, and trial and error, it turns out that there was another (unrelated, mind you) scene I needed to trigger first, that neither the hints nor the walkthrough mentioned as being necessary to do first. Thankfully the rest of the puzzles in the game were pretty logical.

Peace & Luv, Liz
