Just the other day, I saw a fire truck with its siren on trying to turn left in a non-light intersection and none of the cars on the opposite side of the road were even slowing down...

Consider this:
You are driving in the right hand lane, and a slow SUV in front of you moves into the left lane. You speed up, glad that you're free to actually drive the speed limit. Suddenly, without warning, the SUV zooms in front of you, barely giving you enough time to break and pulls into the gas station on your other side. You're amazed that you barely avoided an accident and thank the maker for at least allowing good breaks in your Chrysler.

Also, the river doesn't catch on fire (http://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/63) anymore.
Sad thing is this is normal driving behavior from Cleveland residents. Hell, this is the place where this woman got caught driving on the sidewalk to get around a stopped school bus... while kids were getting on the bus.
Luckily, she didn't hit anyone, but the judge ordered her to wear a sign on that street corner saying she's an idiot for about a week.
That's an interesting punishment... o_O I hope she was fined on top of that.
