The Sierra offices of Vivendi Universal are closed, all the employees there (about 350 I think it says) laid off.
Wow. Talk about the real ending of an era.... :-\
sad...
Let's see if any of the ex-sierra staff want to work on KQ9!?
Since they would have nothing to do now. :D
( VU = Evil Empire! )
QuoteStill, VU Games lost $250 million in 2003, chiefly due to what president Phil O'Neil referred to as "low-quality products."
Yowza! $250 MIL in losses? :S
Of course that's more like $250 bucks to a major corporation like that.
Awww LSL8 wont be released now :'(
Just like the new Sam and Max that was supposed to be released :'(
If you read through the articles, I believe they are still intending to release LSL8, as they list LSL among the games specifically, I know. So, it might still come out. And they are still going to use the Sierra name, but the offices were Sierra was located are closed.
Folks, what's the URL on this, I'd love more details?
In some sad way I think this is a good thing. Under VU Sierra wasn't really the kind of entertainment company that I wanted to buy games from, it was a shadow of itself... if that.
Perhaps it's best to call the dead "dead" and leave it at that... ok enough with being morbid.
the URLs are in my first post, Eric :) As for more details the one's in there are the only ones I know of; there may be more news on this floating about the internet.
Thanks, I just noticed that...see I'm falling asleep at the wheel :'(.
I'll read them over. Thanks!

Very sad --- I guess Sierra will no longer exist soon --- so much for the glory days of Sierra in the 1990's
:'(

Those days were over long ago, so there's nothing sad about it. Except for all those people loosing their jobs, I guess none of them were too happy :-\
sierra started to suck after MOE thats what sarted it
I'm guessing someone really doesn't like MOE as that's the second time in three posts he's referred to it...
I hate MoE too, along with 500 other forumers. XD
I hate it's supposed to be a KQ game...but on it's own, it could be a good game.
kq8 wasn't THAT bad, as long as you forgot everything you knew about king's quest when you played it everything would be just fine :P
At least I was finally able to play it recently without it crashing. :P
Glad to hear that, OldBushie. It reminded me more of a Doom type game. It definately was not KQ. KQ ended with VII. KQIX could just as easily be KQ VIII+ LOL!!
