Title: Narrator
Post by: Jollo on May 23, 2004, 05:07:40 PM

You're right Jeysie, a narrator adds a lot, but it does depend on the voice actor.  The KQ5 guy was a little bland and the GK1 actress slowed down the game with her tone.
Gary Owens was so perfect for the Space Quest games.  That wit fit right in.
I suppose it would be too much to have a narrator of that type for KQ9...
That would be a lot of talking.

I would love to have a narrated game, and it seems very possible, as long as they can find someone good enough.   XB

Yonkey should be narrator or Alex :D, cos Jeysie said that you have a good voice ;)

No offense Alex, b/c I am in love with your accent...but it also makes it a little difficult for us Americans to understand...so from the voices I've heard...I think it should be Neil.  Let us girls swoon through the whole game!  ;D

Hee. As much as I'd love to hear Yonkey's secsay voice throughout the game... the narrator's already been cast. But it's OK, you'll love his voice too. ;D

not really a spoiler, cuz it is already been told before (by Jeysie) it would be a spoiler if she would send some recorded voice of the narrator ; )

Haha, that's no big spoiler. :P And the narrator we cast is a very good choice, too!  :D

"Alexander orders the Texas-sized margarita..." heehee

Am I supposed to have any clue what that meant?  No?  I didn't think so!  :P

Hopefully :P

But the KQ6 narration is very similar! does this means KQ9 would have the same style of narration? ;)

I'd say it's somewhat similar, from what I've seen.

In fact, the guy they cast has a somewhat similar voice quality to the KQ6 narrator, IMHO. :)

And apologies to Koko... usually I'm the *last* person to find out *everything*, so I gotta get my kicks where I can. :P

Hahaha, sorry Koko but I would never want to be a narrator!  I'm so sick of my own voice; I'd hate to have millions of others be as well.  XD

And like Jeysie said, the Narrator for kq9's already been cast, but unfortunately I haven't heard any of his stuff yet. :-\  *wonders when that Live NYC Auditions video will be made*  ;P

Oh well.  FYI, Neil, I had already been informed that the narrator was cast, just wasn't told who he was...just thought I'd go along with the post about either you or Alex being the narrator!

That might be too cruel of a joke to the real narrator.  ;)

Well, now that this is a separate thread and all... XD

No joke could possibly be worse than Harrison's bad jokes. Ever. ;) Fortunately he doesn't get to ad-lib.

The narrator's lines have enough bad jokes in them as it is.  I think he will be somewhat sated with his adlibbing.

Actually, during the recording (Cesar, get me the final lines for the narrartor already :P), he can adlib all he wants, as long as he says the lines written as well.  That could lead to a very fun recording session (and a very long one).

Actually, he'll have to come back two more times to record, probably.

1st time - ch. 1 - 3, 2nd - ch. 4 - 6, 3rd ch. 7 - 9.

God this game is too big!

Hee! XD You should be very grateful Harrison and I don't have parts that play off each other... otherwise we'd never get anything done. ;P You have my permission to whip him into shape if he goofs off too much.

I'll let you warn him ;).  It's ok.  He doesn't have to come back right away for each recording session.

Speaking of recording session - I need to get the two of you in to record  (CESAR!  IS THE NARRATOR DIALOGUE FINISHED?????  ;B)

Hee! Don't stress yourself out... as long as it's not the last weekend of July or first weekend in August, it'll be fine.

Quest for Glory 4 had the best narrator for any game, EVER. I just loved the stupid ass humor in it, like when you looked at the boar's head, "You must'n be so BOARing you know!" Or when you  try to talk to the dead thieves guildmaster, " He must be mad that you murdered him hes not talking to you at all"

Anyhoo do a narration like that :)
