Is your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife or husband a gamer--be it console games or PC games?
Are they a KQ fan, or a Sierra fan, or a fan of adventure games?
Are they a Fantasy or Sci-Fi geek in general?
If not, do you wish he or she was? Have you ever wanted to date someone that was?
I do hope to one day have a gamer girlfriend, yes. She could beta test all my games! :D

How's that for a pick-up line?
"Hey, baby. Wanna beta test my games?"
Haha - nah, my wife only goes as far as console games, and that's only occasionally. But I never heard her swear more creatively when she played Donkey Kong Country on the Wii.
Bt
I don't have a girlfriend now, but once they hear about my AMD FX 6100, 8 gb of ram, and Nvidia GTX 660 OC I know they will be tearing down my door! In fact, I might use my specs as a pick up line at technology conference or something. The guys in my chemistry lab don't think it will work, but I'll prove them wrong. But it would be cool to have an SO with an interest in certain video games. Not obsession mind you, but a casual interest would be pretty cool.
I talked to a non-gamer the other day and wasn't 100% sure how to communicate. I had to make up this pidgin language based on the first generation of Pokemon and Skyrim and I'm not sure anything else got across. :P
In short, I don't expect anyone to have the same interests and like all the same games, but I think I'm so engrossed in the gaming world that I couldn't actually date anyone who didn't live in it as well. :P
Haha, my fiance plays more games than I do! Partly due to time available for it. :) But yeah, Brandon is a big console gamer, has done some beta testing for Cognition, and we both play tabletop RPGS, often together (along with our other friends). When it comes to gaming, we have similar but not identical interests, and I really like it that way.
I've overall had better relationships with people who are also into gaming, since it's such a huge part of my life. Everyone I dated with the exception of one guy (who was the worst boyfriend ever, for many reasons) has either been into gaming or gaming-adjacent hobbies.
What can I say? I <3 nerds. :)
See, Katie knows how it is. :P
I could never date anyone who might be able to compete with me in video games.
My ex liked console games. Most of the time I sat and watched him play a lot of sports games like Madden and NHL. NHL was his favorite. As far as for me, I'm not a hardcore gamer, so I'd be okay if my future s/o wasn't. I have my few select favorites; I don't play games just to play them. It has to be something I'm interested in. Still, I wouldn't complain if a future s/o had an XBox 360 or PS3.
Back before I was married, this is how the typical date with Lambonius would go:
After dinner or whatever, we'd head back to my place.
I'd turn the lights down low, put on a little Miles Davis, pour some wine, and get comfortable.
After we'd finished our wine and small talk, things would eventually move to the bedroom, where I'd lay her down on the bed, grin slyly and say, "Wait here, baby, I've got something I want to show you."
And then she'd lay there, breathlessly, as I left the room.
A few minutes later, back I'd come, wearing nothing but my library of Sierra games.
"OH MY!" she'd exclaim, as I pulled out my giant boxed copy of the King's Quest Collection. She'd marvel at the many versions of Mixed Up Mother Goose that I'd lay before her, and swoon over the many ways I could spell the name "Rumplestiltskin."
"Backwards! Forwards!" she'd cry, squealing with impassioned glee.
"Baby, you ain't seen nothing yet--BACKWARDS ALPHABET." And then BAM! She'd be screaming in ecstasy.
Anyway, I'll leave the rest to your imaginations.
Truly, Lamb, you're a lucky man.
That you found someone to marry you, I mean.

Hahaha...She fell in love with my wit and charm. And my ability to make my way to all the important locations in the King's Quest 5 desert from memory!!

Okay, that IS impressive!
Oh Lambonius, you are a man after my own heart!
Let's leave this crazy world, just the two of us, alone on a deserted island!

Lambonius feels a strange pulling sensation... :P

In light of this thread, I think it is safe to say one should NOT date a KQ fan. :suffer:
Why's that? Overtly nit picky?
We flirt with obscure bastardized fairly tale references.

LOL, Gonz! You and your marriage thing :p
More than just being a gamer, it's a matter of having respect towards what you like and what you do. I've found the most horrible way how even being with a gamer means absolute s*** if it just opens more doors for hate - Alright, you may not like X genre, but that doesn't give you the right to trash me for it.
And so on and so on /rant.
Back to rainbows, cookies and fluffy kitties and s***.
You want a fluffy kitty? You want a fluffy kitty? I'll show you a fluffy kitty.

I'll see your fluffy kitten and raise you a zombie cat! (Be warned that this picture might be unsettling if you don't like gore)

...Man, after all of the sarcastic labels, I expected that to be something actually cute and cuddly.
...That was not.
Haha. That was sort of the intention...to make you go "Ah, how bad could it be--OH DEAR GOD."
I Google Image searched "scary cat" and when that picture came up, I thought to myself, "This picture is so absolutely hardcore that I HAVE to post it in a family-friendly forum."
This is what I love about the POStudios forums: taking a serious thread and turning it into something absolutely absurd :P
That wasn't absurd, that was flat out gross.
I'm with Say. :-\
Okay, fine; no more undead animal pictures.

I think ole Perc generally makes threads with sincerity.
Back to the actual topic... My wife is a computer geek but not much interested in games/fantasy/sci-fi. :-\
I'll let you guys know next time I'm in a relationship 8)
On topic: it's fun playing videogames with Deloria. :D Especially adventure games, because they're at the right pace for a couple to enjoy them.
It sucks that he's mean to you about insular gamer ****, Say. :( That nonsense is stupid and pointless at the best of times. There's no excuse to bring that into a relationship.
