I like what this page has to say about rape being used in fan fiction.
I made some edits because a few of the subjects are a little too dark for the established King's Quest universe. It's still a good story, though.
Going to go read it now.
THERE you go. It's okay to make King's Quest stories that are mature, but it's hard to make them mature without also making them jarring. I wasn't trying to be rude, but I definitely found the original story jarring. This draft is a step in the right direction, though.
