Time to get some quotes up!

From the Gaming Excellence (http://www.gamingexcellence.com/pc/games/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle/review) review a score of 8/10!

QuoteI'm hoping that you all have stuck with Erica Reed so far.  She's been an awesome heroine to tag along with.  I've rooted for her, felt bad for her and sincerely have wanted her to succeed.  I've been connecting with her over the course of the series and it's made the whole experience into something awesome.

Mash Those Buttons (http://mashthosebuttons.com/review/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-iii-the-oracle-review/) gives it a 4/5 from a reviewer who's opinions on the game as a whole have been turned around. :)

QuoteCognition: An Erica Reed Thriller Episode III: The Oracle is going to be an very difficult act to follow, although the extreme cliffhanger ending will probably help make that a little easier. This game ends on such an intense note that I was genuinely upset that the game was over, and it's left me hungry for the next one. Given all the fantastic work they did streamlining this game, I know they have the ability to make the next one even better. Their storytelling technique has grown considerably, and with the game playing more logically than almost any point-and-click adventure out there it's almost a shame to know the next chapter is the last one. It's amazing to see how far they've come since the first game, turning a series I pretty much hated into something I need to play. This chapter alone was worth all of the hassles of the other ones.

FunSponge (http://www.funsponge.net/2013/05/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle/) has also had a change of heart about Cognition!

QuoteIt's no secret that we didn't get along too well last time around, but it's a complicated relationship. ... "So can the third instalment turn things around?" you ask, peering out from under your detective hat. Firstly, that's a nice hat. Secondly, yes it can.

Gamezone (http://www.gamezone.com/reviews/2013/05/16/review-cognition-episode-3-solves-murder-through-psychic-body-switching) gives it an 8.5, and says:

QuoteCognition: An Erica Reed Thriller from Phoenix Online Studios has given adventure-game fans a solid experience since it launched last October, with each episode expanding on the titular FBI agent's growing psionic powers and ironing out the problems with its sometimes frustrating puzzle design. Episode 3: The Oracle (5-6 hours long) removes more of these wrinkles, but it also elevates the drama in a tight, well-controlled setting, and that makes it the best chapter so far.

And from 2D-X (http://www.2d-x.com/cognition-episode-3-review/), our third Excellence Award!

QuoteThe early stages of Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller Episode 3: The Oracle don't lead you to believe that the unfolding mystery will continue to grow in intensity, but plot twist after plot twist reveals a story where each new shock is greater than the last. Phoenix Online Studios goes above and beyond to keep players on the edge of their seats for the entirety of their playthrough. If you've followed Cognition from the first episode, expect a big payoff as the story elements begin to come to a head in the penultimate entry of this point-and-click adventure series.

First up, some of our non-English reviews!

From 4players.de (http://www.4players.de/4players.php/dispbericht/PC-CDROM/Test/34734/79702/0/Cognition_An_Erica_Reed_Thriller_-_Episode_3_The_Oracle.html), in German, a 72/100.

MeriStation (http://www.meristation.com/pc/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller---episode-3-the-oracle/analisis-juego/1863109), a Spanish review site, gives Ep 3 an 8.2.

IGN Italia (http://it.ign.com/recensione/5633/si-svela-il-mistero-di-cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller) comes in with an 8/10!

And from Greece, Rage Quit (http://www.ragequit.gr/reviews/item/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-pc-review) gives us an 89/100!

Back on reviews I can reliably pull quotes from (sorry, Google Translate, you're good but still flawed, NoobFeed (http://www.noobfeed.com/reviews/882/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle) says:

Quotethe story has grown so intense that now I want to know what happens next. There are many unanswered questions and unsolved mysteries to attend to. Each episode adding more and more of these questions and mysteries that makes Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller a remarkable game. I can't wait for the next episode and anyone who loves thrilling adventure shouldn't miss playing this series.

Leviathyn (http://leviathyn.com/games/news/2013/05/17/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-review-improving-upon-its-predecessors/) has joined the crowd as well!

Quote... the story, characters, and visuals keep me engaged in The Oracle enough to finish the episode and play it again with 20/20 hindsight. You may need to have a feel of the previous two episodes, but Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller is worth playing if only to appreciate good story and good old point & click adventure gaming.

From Dad's Gaming Addiction (http://www.dadsgamingaddiction.com/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-three-the-oracle/) says 9/10!

QuoteOverall, I was very pleased with this episode.  It even addressed that odd vision Erica's been having on a regular basis, but in a way I didn't expect.  We also discover who's who for the most part and the actual mastermind behind this whole series of events.  There's a cliffhanger at the end of this episode that will no doubt tie into the final episode, so expect to scream expletives when the credits start to roll.  Quite frankly, it's an episode you won't want to miss.

And FutureSack (http://www.futuresack.com/index.php/news/714/56/Adventures-In-Episodes-Review-of-Cognition-An-Erica-Reed-Thriller-Ep-3-The-Oracle-PC.htm) gives it an 8.5! :)

QuoteThe music itself is again quite atmospheric in suspenseful or creepy sequences, but some piano notes seem too trying on the heart strings to evoke sympathetic emotions in the player, which is actually unnecessary considering the overall good quality of the script and the dialogues.

Gamers Haven News (http://gamershavennews.com/2013/05/review-cognition-episode-3-the-oracle/) gives it a 4.1!

Quote...what really makes this episode stand out is how personal the story feels with the way it handles Erica's internal dialogue and the lack of characters she actually meets in this eerie tower. The strong point of Cognition has always been about the powers, and the game steps it up a notch by unrevealing the dealings being made through- not just watching cut-scenes, but cleverly placing the player inside the body of the murderer as they have this tennis-like back-and-forth method of solving events and puzzles.

The Cross Platform Gamers (http://www.crossplatformgamers.com/2013/05/17/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-review/) review is in!

QuoteEpisode 3 ... feels like a slow ascent up a roller coast hill before speeding down  full tilt into madness. If you follow the series you'll enjoy the big reveals, but ultimately will want to know how everything turns out. Unfortunately, for this answers we'll just have to wait for episode 4.

Video Game People (http://www.videogamepeople.com/news/3514/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle-review) gives Episode 3 a 9/10!

QuoteThe third episode 'The Oracle' is one of the best episode in this series with a very good plot twist with more power and devastating effect. ... I found the story telling, puzzles, soundtrack and voice acting to be a two thumbs up for the game. The game hooks you up and it will leave you hanging until you learn what's next[.]

A few more reviews are in!

Game Debate (http://www.game-debate.com/articles/index.php?a_id=2070&game=Cognition:%20An%20Erica%20Reed%20Thriller%20Episode%203) gives the episode a 9/10!

QuoteCognition Episode Three: The Oracle is an enthralling entry in the series, which successfully shakes up the core gameplay and ties together all kinds of plot threads from the previous episodes. We can't wait to play through the final entry, but get the feeling that when the final credits roll, it'll be a bittersweet triumph.

A video review in German from Games Panorama (http://www.games-panorama.de/2013/05/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-the-oracle-test/) gives it a Silver Award. :)

Game party (http://www.gameparty.net/pc/cognition-episode-3-oracle-review) gives Episode 3 a 72%.

A Dutch review from Adventurespel.nl (http://www.adventurespel.nl/info/info-cogn.htm) goes over the previous episodes as well as the latest.

And finally, from Games Arena (http://www.games-arena.ro/2013/05/20/review-cognition-episode-3-the-oracle/), an 8.5/10!

RPGFan (http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Cognition/index3.html) loved the art, music, and story and gives the episode an 85%, calling it our best one yet!

QuoteI found myself replaying several key scenes from the finale just to hear certain tracks again, and along with the sharp writing, I was totally absorbed. The moments it took me to solve the episode's final puzzle were filled with an escalating sense of disbelief and the realization that I was one hundred percent on board with the story and totally caught up in the drama.

We've got a new review in from DiehardGameFAN (http://diehardgamefan.com/2013/05/21/review-cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle-pc/):

QuoteThey've taken Erica's abilities and amped up what they can do this time around tying things up nicely with what will lead in to the fourth part, leaving the player on a great cliffhanger that is very fitting for how the episode plays out. The over-arching case details prove to be enlightening and driving for the plot giving the player some much needed backstory for the events that are unfolding and what Erica is involved in. This is the best entry into the Cognition series so far[.]

A fantastic review from Adventure Gamers (http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/24605) gives Episode 3 a 4/5, and makes me wish I could quote the whole thing!

QuoteOf course, nothing is ever quite as it seems—as two disparate timelines meld together and the past collides with the future, the game's final 15 minutes unravel in a genuinely breathtaking sequence where the actual truth appears to finally be clear, and the stage is set for the final episode.  The series is now 3 for 3 in executing brilliant final scenes with intense cliffhangers, and never have I been more entranced by the series than this last sequence and its revelations, with a shocking final moment of violence that is sure to have immediate ramifications in the concluding chapter. And though it appears the evil is fully identified and all that's left is the pursuit, I have no trouble believing Phoenix might have at least one more trick up their sleeve.

1P Start (http://www.1pstart.net/2013/05/23/cognition-episode-three-the-oracle-review/) says 4.25/6!

Quote...the brilliant writing still shines through. It's still full of drama and insight in what drives the killer. They manage to convey sympathy for what seems to be a disillusioned and desperate killer rather than a mindless psychopath. Raleigh Holmes continues to charm us with her cocky and energetic portrayal of Erica Reed, and all other actors keep on giving it all they've got. The artwork by Art Director Romano Molenaar continues to impress with its storytelling features in the fantastic cut scenes

And on MMORPG Tactics (http://mmorpg-tactics.com/reviews/pc/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle-review) a 7.3/10. :)

Capsule Computers (http://www.capsulecomputers.com.au/2013/05/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-review/) has posted their review--8.5 out of 10!

QuotePumping out the adrenaline in climatic cliffhangers is what Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller is constructed to do. In every contraption that must be completed in a timely fashion, I felt that life was dangling in my fingertips – and virtually was! Phoenix Online Studios continues this streak in Episode 3: The Oracle and chose to emphasize the thought process of these killings exclusively. By tapping into the mind of a killer, I felt disturbed and yet intrigued to know the answers to "why?".

IndieStatik (http://indiestatik.com/2013/05/26/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-continues-to-evolve/) has their review (and bits of an interview) in for Episode 3 and is really liking the improvements!

QuoteThe addition of the super-spoilery [Oracle] to the character roster adds a ton of depth to the game's winding story, helping to reveal much about the true enemies of Erica Reed and a deep conspiracy within the FBI that may have prevented every major death in the series. On top of that, every good feature of the game has been added to and improved – the psychic investigation elements and memory puzzles are quick and clever, the dialogue is snappier and less cheesy, and the jokes even play off the tension better.

Whatever Phoenix Online is doing to improve their titles, its working on a fundamentally sound level that's driving Cognition to what I'm hoping will be an amazing conclusion.

Kickstart Ventures (http://www.kickstartadventure.com/home/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-2/) has added Episode 3 to their review of Cognition!

QuoteThey've done a wonderful job weaving the past, present, and possible future together into a tapestry of intrigue and suspense.  It's hard to talk about The Oracle without giving anything away, but I can state with certainty that the ending will blow your mind.  By the time I got to the end credits, I was speechless.  Episode three leaves you with one of the most impressive cliffhangers that I've seen in a long time.  And it will be an unbearable wait for the grand finale to find out what happens next.

Tech-Gaming (http://www.tech-gaming.com/cognition-episode-three-the-oracle-review/) has also posted their review of Episode 3, giving it a score of 89%!

QuoteEpisode 3 also introduces another addition to Erica's powers.  Once again, Phoenix finds a way to keep things new and fresh.  Rather than just add another power to Erica's already impressive inventory, this psionic power ties in another character with its use.  The novelty of this new power does not wear off through the course of the game, and it creates a unique approach to character perspective while playing the game.

Jay is Games (http://jayisgames.com/archives/2013/05/cognition_episode_3.php) enjoys how Episode 3 ties together a lot of plot threads and questions from the previous two Episodes:

Quote...this is the pay-off, and it is glorious. Phoenix Online Studios clearly took the time to map out Erica Reed's story in all of its intricacies ahead of time, and this is the point where plot threads are beginning to weave together, and overlooked bits of foreshadowing could not have been more obvious in retrospect.

And Explosion (http://www.explosion.com/32372/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle/) gives it a 4/5!

QuoteThe narrative designers have put a great amount of effort into connecting the various cases that Erica has investigated, and in the final scenes of episode three it becomes clear how they all fit together.

But wait there's more!

Pop-Culture Spectrum (http://popculturespectrum.com/?p=1446) has posted their review:

QuoteThis third chapter takes things to another level adding to your power abilities as well as adding a second playable character. To fully explain this would create major spoilers, but it works really well and to the plot of the game, the way it has progressed and such. ...  What makes COGNITION different is the fact that not only is it a game, but a well made game.

MiastoGier (http://www.miastogier.pl/recenzja,pc,1695.html) has their review up as well (in Polish), and considers it "the best [...] current episode" (paraphrased from Google translate) and gives it an 8.5/10!

30 Lives (http://30lives.net/review-cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-pc/) is digging into the game as well, with a review covering the first 3 episodes and giving them a collective 3.5/5:

QuoteCognition: An Erica Reed Thriller has a solid and gripping story with pretty good puzzles that will compel you to think hard. It is a nice time sink to enjoy over a drink or two (alcoholic or otherwise) whenever you have some time to kill. The voice acting and sound track is pretty good for an independent production and the transitioning between hand-drawn artwork and game engine sequences adds novelty to the story telling of the game[.]

Game4Me (http://www.game4me.be/pc-review-cognition-episode-3-the-oracle/), a Dutch site, gives it a 79/100, with this great (Google translated) quote:

QuoteThis third episode does not disappoint. It gives a somewhat claustrophobic feeling, until one of the two new gifts floats to the top. From then on it an interactive ping-pong game between the present and the past. The impetus given to the fourth and final episode far, does not disappoint and adds a bit more mystery to the general, overarching story.

Fangirl Confessions (http://www.fangirlconfessions.com/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-review/) has also posted their review!

QuoteThere are also a lot of wonderful twists in the story offered up in Episode 3, which is where this game excels. Don't think you know what's going on with the plot, because your theories will probably be shattered several times. The very dark and shocking ending alone is worth putting a few hours into getting through the ever-challenging puzzles of the game. The finale of Episode 3 will definitely leave you screaming "WHAT?" [...] Seriously, get it now.

Gaming Enthusiast (http://www.gamingenthusiast.net/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle-review/) has given Episode 3 an 8/10!

QuoteErica Reed's tale is slowly coming to a closure. There's only one episode left which – I hope – will provide a satisfactory ending, tying all loose threads. If it will be at least as good as The Oracle, I will remember Cognition fondly. I can't wait to see the last chapter because the ending teases real emotional rollercoaster in the finale. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a sequel too. Phoenix Online Studios, please consider.

The Indie Shelter (http://www.theindieshelter.com/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle/) review is up (in Italian).

For the Love of Gaming (http://4logpc.com/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle-review/) has also posted theirs, giving it a 9/10!

QuoteIn my opinion, the best part of Episode 3 is how it connects to the first two episodes. There have been subtle clues sprinkled throughout all 3 episodes that have all pointed to mystery surround Erica, and unless you are paying extremely close attention, they can be easily overlooked. There are moments that will reveal something significant about things you have learned in the past, but now with a new perspective or clue that changes everything. The best part is a lot of times the clues were right in front of your face, but since the player and Erica were so focused on other things you get slapped in the face, but in a good way.

Geeky Girl Reviews (http://www.geekygirlreviewsblog.com/2013/05/cognition-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3.html) has posted their short but sweet review, giving it a 4/5!

QuoteIf you haven't played Cognition:An Erica Reed Thriller yet I highly recommend it.

QuoteThis is a great adventure series which has chosen to focus on the narrative side of things and is all the better for it. This third chapter is the best so far.

Gameblog (http://www.gameblog.fr/test_1597_cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-pc-mac) declares Episode 3 "très bon" and gives it a 4/5!

JTM Games (http://jtmgames.com/2013/06/05/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-episode-3-the-oracle-review/) has some great final thoughts in their review!

QuotePhoenix Online Studios may not yet have reached "The Walking Dead"-level goodness with "Cognition," but in terms of delivering shocks and surprises, they are certainly coming close. I'd be loathe to ruin it for anyone, but if you like a game with a grisly, surprising story, "Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller" is definitely for you. I'm definitely hooked and looking forward to episode 4.

Z-Giochi (http://www.z-giochi.com/recensioni/cognition-an-erica-reed-thriller-the-oracle-recensione-83137) gives it a 9/10--and declares "Erica Reed Means Business!"

Virtual Inn (http://www.virtualinn.it/site/cognition-episodio-3-the-oracle-recensione/), also an Italian site, gives it a 7/10.

All-Ordi (http://www.all-ordi.com/Cognition-Episode-3-The-Oracle.html), a French site, rates it an 18/20. :)

Game Reality (http://www.gamereality.org/arvostelut/pc/cognition-erica-reed-thriller-oracle-episode-3) gives its review in Finnish.

GameBoomers (http://www.gameboomers.com/reviews/Cc/Cognition3/CognitionThe%20Oracle.htm) gives it a B+!

QuoteMuch is revealed in this episode, but I suspect there is more to come. I wouldn't be surprised if whodunit came out different, and I am somewhat impatient to find out. It's the bane of episodic adventures, having to wait for the next bit, particularly when perched on the violent precipice we have here.

Final Checkpoint (http://finalcheckpoint.com/review/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-review-a-rich-display-of-color-and-detail/) says 7.9:

QuoteThe Oracle is a solid adventure experience with some beautifully crafted visuals, music and storytelling. Although it does have some bugs and apparent flaws, it does all come together in a very enjoyable package. Admittedly, I am not the biggest adventure fan around, but my time spent in the shoes of Erica Reed was one I will remember. For those new to the genre, it is a great entry in a series that is breathing new life into a classic genre. And for those of you who are seasoned adventurers, prepare for a new experience that will leave you clamoring for more Cognition.

And Atomic Gamer (http://www.atomicgamer.com/articles/1505/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-review) gives it an 8/10!

QuoteThe Cognition series is nothing if not consistent. Thus far, all three chapters have delivered bizarre-looking characters and laughable dialog, but more importantly, they've delivered seductively gruesome murder cases and an impressively comprehensive story arc. They've also grown the game's mechanics each successive chapter, giving players more to master and more to look forward to. Speaking of looking forward, stay tuned kids—Cognition: Episode 4 The Cain Killer's due out later this year.

Pop Matters (http://www.popmatters.com/pm/review/172600-cognition-episode-3-the-oracle/) gives Episode 3 an 8/10!

QuoteWhere [Episode 3] leaves off suggests a masterwork in thriller storytelling and while before I was mildly interested to see where Phoenix Studios would go with it, now I am itching for the next installment. I previously called the material in Cognition much like that of an "airport thriller novel" and while it still dips its toes into those waters, with its greater focus on character and interpersonal dynamics Cognition manages to elevate itself above that genre in some powerful and interesting ways. As Cognition hurtles towards its final episode, I cannot wait to see if the team can maintain its momentum.

A great review in from Girl Gamer (http://www.girlgamer.com/games/article/2811/) gives it a 9/10!

QuoteDeveloper Phoenix Online are masters of intense, dramatic endings and Episode 3 takes that skill to new heights. The final moments set the stage for the conclusion of the series in a cliffhanger that left me picking up my jaw off the floor. Very rarely does a video game cause me to feel a full range of emotions when playing it, but Cognition does. There's fear, despair and sadness, but there's also a strong sense of hopefulness that Erica will bring the killer to justice while putting her own inner demons to rest. It's everything an adventure game should be and so much more. The final chapter, The Cain Killer is due out later this year so be sure to check out the first three episodes in the meantime. You won't be disappointed.

Two more great reviews are in! From True PC Gaming (http://truepcgaming.com/2013/06/18/cognition-episode-3-the-oracle-review/):

QuoteThe story...focus[es] on family drama—both immediate family and the extended family of one's peers. This intimacy was the strongest aspect of the game for me, because it brought me closer to the characters than ever before.  I found myself caring deeply for them and, because of this, the game was able to raise the stakes in a way that felt like a huge punch to the gut when the ending came along.  It was powerful stuff, and well worth experiencing for yourself.

And Just Adventure (http://www.justadventure.com/article/458/reviews-cognition-episode-3-the-oracle) gives it an A+!

QuoteThe journey in this game is most satisfying and I can't wait to play the conclusion.  All the pieces are in place for an astounding finale.  The team behind this game is starting to get really good at telling their story while also mixing in the elements you'll love as an adventure gamer.  If you've played the first two installments, you'll want to play the third.  If you like mystery games, then you'll want to play this series.

Hulking Reviewer (http://hulkingreviewer.com/home/reviews/cognition-episode-3/) gives Episode 3 a 9/10 and says it's "the best episode in the series so far"!

QuoteCognition Episode 3 – The Oracle is an extremely enjoyable penultimate episode and even though it answers enough questions the mystery deepens enough to potentially setup an even more satisfying final episode. Being able to play as the killer works completely because it's definitely not done gratuitously but to tell a more profound story and the new gameplay mechanics as a result make this episode entertaining throughout.  The puzzles can be challenging but they're fun because they consist of more than just finding an item. And the evolution of Erica's post-cognitive abilities has kept the use of it fresh even after 3 episodes.

Geek Citadel (http://www.geekcitadel.com/2013/07/07/the-three-reviews-super-splatters-cognition-and-the-night-of-the-rabbit/) has reviewed Cognition, catching up on epsiodes 1-3, and given it a 4/5!

QuoteThis title was recently greenlit on Steam, and from the gameplay it's well deserved. Erica Reed's case is a blast from the past, and it's something the adventure game genre needed. If you're interested at all in thrillers or adventure games, this is one of the best I have played in a long time. Cognition episodes one through three receives four stars out of five from Geek Citadel. Erica Reed is a strong female protagonist that I hope to see again in a sequel.

Episode 3 was also given an 85% in PC Master, a Greek print magazine!

QuoteThe Oracle episode along with new supernatural abilities will also bring a [new] timeline and a new playable character. Cognition holds high quality and we are just waiting for what the summer will bring this hilarious series finale.
