Title: July 5th!
Post by: Say on July 05, 2004, 01:23:25 PM
TODAY IS JULY 5th! VENEZUELA'S INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Probably noone here knew, noone here cares, noone here has any idea that I'm actually venezuelan, but I dont care :D I had Canada's, and USA's thread so I wanna have my own and deal with it :D <3

Interesting article on the matter for those who may care :P a little Venezuela's Independence Day (http://www.vheadline.com/printer_news.asp?id=9313)

Sad to say most of that article is right :P it's not a civic day, it's not really a party thing it's more like a day free from work, it is insanly annoying for me because I live near a militar zone so I have to put up with all the air show and stuff, the stuns are great don't get me wrong, but the noise is a bit annoying :P

ANYHOW :P

Happeh day :P <3

A portal with tourist Venezuela info :PVenezuela Tuya (http://www.venezuelatuya.com/eng.htm)

Omg interesting... :P  Venezuela Fact Book (http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/ve.html)

Aww... and american wonder why sometimes people hate them! this is a clear example why *stabs website* it's even sad to say this is the Consular Information Sheet of Venezuela in the USA... how dramatic it is, and how much of a *cough*bullshi.t*cough* it is... :) Consular Information Sheet aka bullshi.t (http://travel.state.gov/venezuela.html) :D

OMG HAPPEH DAY HAPPEH DAY, who cares, Caracas is lonely and quiet and everyone is pissed off around here... and stuff :)

The rest of the websites I managed to find (in english for you) were extremely stupid, so I left them out, I just put the gorgeous beauty of the Consular cuz... lol it's just hilarious :)

I'm very familiar with that feeling.  I experience it on July 2nd quite often. :D  And December 26th and 27th.  And January 1st.  And January 3rd.
(Winter is cold, booze keeps us warm :D)

And all the above mentioned by James is completly not.venezuelan lol but thanks, you can do that on the next cinco de mayo though :P it would probably fit better :D

(dont feel bad, I am one of the most not.tipical.venezuelan people you may find around here in Caracas I guess, I don't look like one, I don't really fit like one, and sadly Im beggining to feel I'm so not like one either, actually if you ask me I have no idea what ppl do here today other than just NOT go to work and be lazy, but all you mentioned is pretty much not from around here :P)

Happy independence day.

QuoteProbably noone here knew

The days being so close(to the US), isn't it hard not to know(for the US)?

Interesting facts about Angel Falls.
Venezuela has the highest waterfalls, called Angel Falls, at 979 metres: they happen to be sixteen times the height of Niagara Falls. Angel Falls were actually named after an American pilot, Jimmy Angel. The silly billy got his plane stuck at the top of the mountain whilst searching for gold.
So, is that a good thing, or a bad thing(about the pilot)?

P.S. Why didn't Canada and the US get their own thread?  :(
We aren't that closely knit, are we?

I DID NOT!

(Denial isn't just a river in Egypt. :D)

And I apologize for playing upon the stereotype of what is "Latin"....or at least Venezuelan Latin.

*goes back to living underneath his rock of ignorance*

I'm either really silly and fun when I'm drunk or really sentimental.  I make Tammy Fae Baker's tears look like humidity compared to my flood. :D

Mind you, getting me drunk is a really good way to get me to sing and karaoke or dance.  I love to shake my booty after about fifteen drinks. :D

I think Louisiana is losing it. ;) And c'mon... Americans actually know anything outside of their own country? You have to be kidding me. ;P

As for getting drunk... I don't. I already act like enough of a moron *sober*... no sense in encouraging the matter.

Peace & Luv, Liz

I used to be like that.  Then I got drunk once when I was 19, and I haven't sobered up since. :D

IIRC, the Wallon's one is in August. :P But indeed, the Belgian and Flemish are also both in July. XD

I only knew a few country's independance days by heart, that's the Belgian, the Flemish, the French, and the American, and that's about it. ;] As you can see, V'zla is not in that list.

Quote from: Say on July 05, 2004, 01:23:25 PMit's not a civic day, it's not really a party thing it's more like a day free from work,
Here in Flanders, there's parties all over the region on our Flemish national (we can't call it independence day 'cos we're not independent (yet)) day. 8)

Anyway, a happy (belated) Independence Day to you and all Venezuelans.

Yay us Venezuelans!

I may forget, and hate the way the country works, but I still love Venezuelans :D
