Title: Guns N' Roses vs. Nirvana
Post by: Sir Perceval of Daventry on December 21, 2013, 11:18:10 AM
Guns N' Roses and Nirvana were arguably the two most popular rock bands in the world in the early-mid 90s. Both bands' major label debuts took the music scene by storm, with Appetite for Destruction becoming (and still is) the highest selling debut album ever, and Nirvana's Nevermind permanently changing the rock landscape. Both bands did a deathblow to the cheesy, party rock and Hair Metal which dominated the late 80s and early 90s, both bands were known for their intriguing, emotionally troubled lead singers, both bands were known for their deeper, more introspective and realistic lyrics in a time when rock music was all about partying all the time or lord of the rings inspired lyrics. Both bands dominated the early and mid 1990s, but both came to untimely ends in 1994, with the suicide of Kurt Cobain and the quiet disintegration of Guns N Roses happening in the saee year.

Nirvana are more my thing. I saw Guns N Roses live last summer and really didn't like them very much. Though I must admit, Axl can still sing quite well for someone his age.

I think the other reason that bring Guns N' Roses (http://chords.tv/guns-n-roses/) to the highest position is The man named "Slash"
