My thoughts:

Well, it wasn't quite as dark as it was originally made out to be.  But nevertheless, it did have a sense of urgency that made the gameplay more intense and exhilarating than its predecessor.  And while I did miss the archery battles and the contests from episode 1, the clever puzzles and a few bits of comedy almost made up for them.  Not to say the episode was without its weird moments and some minor graphical bugs though.  So, was it better than episode 1?  Ehh... maybe not quite.  But I still enjoyed it.

If there was one thing I really hated, it was waiting for the installation and all the hassle of turning the console off and on and logging in and out, until the game finally recognized that I had the episode installed and allowed me to play it- instead of just taking me back to the store page.

The Game saves automatically, so theres no loading a previous save. When you die, Old Graham will simply joke about it, then the Game will load just before the bad decision is made.

Sadly there are only 4 Save Slots in witch you can copy one to save it in a different slot or Delete it or Rename it. Hence your Chapter 1 Save Slot will be overwritten for the Next Chapter and the next. Careful when you Delete a Save Slot just to start the Next Chapter, as the Game is Narrative Driven, witch means the Chapter 1 Data to the Next Chapter is Essential.

At the Main Menu of the Game is a Gallery Section that will have an image shown of Graham and the deeds he has done. Depending on your Chosen Save Slot as to how you played the Chapter, the image will look different. Theres also a Left/Right Arrow for the Next Chapters, but they will only be shown when you cleared the Next Chapter of the Game.

Each Chapter will Continue from the last Chapter, so everything you did and how you played with the Choices you made, will be Included into the Next Chapter.

To Replay a Chapter, go to the Main Menu and click on Play, then click on the Previous Chapter where you will be asked if you want to make a New Save Slot or Overwrite it. Now you will watch the Ending Cutscene of the Previous Chapter to start Fresh with the Next Chapter. To start from Chapter 1, you must Delete the Save Slot to start from Beginning or play from an Empty Save Slot.

So, did you guys like it? Was it better than episode 1, or weaker, or about the same? I don't really care, honestly, and I haven't looked up any Let's Plays of it yet, so I want to get your opinion on it.
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015

Sadly I haven't completed it yet. Partially because of computer problems (which are fixed now- new laptop for christmas! Yay!) and partially because I made a mistake and deleted my save, not knowing that I could just click on the Continue option for episode 1 and apparently it starts over on episode 2. But what I have played, which isn't much unfortunately, I have liked. I'll give my full thoughts (if I have any) later.

Thanks, Daventry! This'll be useful for when I get KQ reinstalled later.

Oh, and thank you for being spoiler free! I wanna see the cutscenes for myself.

Not to spoil anything here, but that cutscene where all of the new characters died and were replaced by android duplicates kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

Hehehehe!
The only thing I disagree with about your walkthrough, Daventry, is that you say that chapter 2 takes place years after KQ1. I disagree for several reasons- 1. Graham isn't acting like he's been on the throne all that long ("I don't think this crown fits me...") his reactions to finding out about all those duties and seeing how overwhelmed he is that he's screaming distress doesn't sound like he has much experience yet on the throne. 2. The guards address him first as Pockets, then Sir Graham, then King Graham, and if he's been on the throne for years, they'd be used to addressing him by his proper title by now. Unless you're actually saying this chapter takes place years after A Knight To Remember, not the intro, in which case you'd be correct and it was just poorly worded.
That does make sense GrahamRocks,
so basically it should be a Week After Graham is named King of Daventry where the Knights refer to him as Pockets or Sir or King.

Eh, it's never really said exactly how long it's been since then. Might be a week, might be a day. But certainly shorter than months or years, trust me. *shrugs*
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: daventry on December 28, 2015, 08:43:20 AM
You got no argument from me, i would say a Week, a day seems sudden, since King Edward just died where Graham walked over he's corpse and sat on the Throne as King, hence there needs to be a Coronation and a Funural
Good point! No way that could all be planned out in a single day.

Oh, also! Numbers! I know you'll be happy to hear this: Chapter 2 has no Whisper besides a brief mention at the beginning.

Not sure if joking or serious, but...
You can actually save all the people from "dying", (there's an achievement for it too) but unfortunately you can't save both Mr. Fancycakes and the bakers from being taken away, because there's only one medicine.
This level had been frustrating for me.  I played through from my Chapter 1 completed game and lost many of the prisoners since I wasn't sure what I was doing.  I should have copied my Chapter 1 completed game first.  :P

You can try Chapter 2 from the start, though it picks a path you may not have done in Chapter 1.  I may do that again because I think I finally figured out the order of operations to keep mostly everyone alive.

But the auto save feature here really is awful.  For Chapter 1, sure, it was a pain that you couldn't go back and see certain paths.  But I think if you lose certain people,, you're just stuck.

Not necessarily.  There is at least one point in which you can still make it to the end.
If the Hobblepots get taken away, after they ask you for the bomb ingredients, you can go into their empty cell and make the bomb yourself.  And I'm pretty sure you can do the same with the sweet cakes, if the bakers get taken away, but I haven't tried that myself yet.

Thanks!  That was helpful to know you're not just stuck.

I finally finished the chapter.  And I definitely feel better seeing the ending of it.  Okay, some events could be a bit of a cop out, but still, I was glad things do work out no matter what.
Well, like I said...
You can save all the people.  You just have to choose between Bramble and Mr. Fancycakes.  But saving him is really only necessary if you want to see the wisdom ending.  (Provided you remember to return him to his owner, that is.)
This episode seems to have gotten slightly lower scores than the first one did. That doesn't bode well for me, as I was already not a fan of the first episode. I can only imagine what Rock Knight's reaction to this one will be.

You like a lot of things, though. Even...

*drum roll*

...KQ7.

Heyo!

That said, it's not like I think you're brainless or anything. You have your reasons for liking KQ7, which was more divisive amongst the fanbase than an outright disappointment the way MoE was, and you also have your reasons for hating Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail, which a lot of people enjoyed. I think you're just more easy-to-please than some of the more rabid Sierra fans, who will not be mentioned in this post.
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015

*nods*

It helps that I never grew up with Sierra, I suppose. I don't really have nostalgic standards for them, other than "Tell me a good story" and "Make me give a damn about the characters by making have personalities and emotions and development" which so far, the new KQ has succeeded.

Thanks for not thinking that I'm brainless. I appreciate that, really! :) Especially when I admit that I don't consider myself all that smart in terms of gaming anyway. You know that puzzle way back in the beginning of chapter one where you're using the feeding contraption to reach the Magic Mirror? Took me 20 minutes to solve that. Toegoff, a guy who's almost always blind as an LPer, is playing that game and he solved it within like 2 minutes.

I did like the ending scene for this chapter though.

(And putting my thoughts on that under spoiler tags.)
The ending was a pretty good cliff hanger.  What is the story of the man in the goblin outfit?  Apparently,  he must have been switched from his human family.

But why was he still there?  And what does Manny want with him?  I figure it's for revenge, but the plot I can't figure out yet.

The story Manny wrote though to get Graham kidnapped in the first place...clever of him.
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: GrahamRocks! on January 11, 2016, 05:54:57 PM
I liked the ending too!
It wouldn't surprise me if Manny was the Goblin child switched for him. He's got the right proportions and size to be one. Also, look at the architecture of the Goblins, particularly the doors. Does any of that seem... familiar?
Heck, the only thing I wasn't fond of was the "Dialogue skip" feature. Not because it (apparently as I never actually used it in-game) skipped the entire cutscene instead of line by line, but because I was taking pictures as I played, and when it was a cutscene that popped up everytime I went FN+F12. Kinda distracting!
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: kyranthia on January 11, 2016, 06:02:17 PM
That's a good thought.  We have yet to see Manny's face too so maybe we will see him, sans helmet.  And he'll be a goblin after all.
I didn't mind the skip option for some things.  I think it made sense to not allow you to skip if it was the first time.  But any other time afterwards, then have the skip option.
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: GrahamRocks! on January 11, 2016, 07:56:26 PM
Thanks to a guy named Charles Evanson II, I know more about the chapter than just what we saw in-game. There was stuff that was cut out that you can access through the text files, and some of it was very interesting...  ;) For one thing, the Goblin Man? He has a name, Mordon. That's all I'm gonna say right now.
Also... I've been thinking back to chapter one recently and I've been thinking something about Graham.
Now, this is just my own thoughts on this. For all I know, I'm going to be proven wrong in the upcoming episodes somewhere. But... I've kinda wondered exactly WHY Graham reacted that way to Manny becoming his friend in the beginning. You know the whole, "So, friend! What's your favorite color? Do you like popcorn flavored jellybeans? Cause I do! What's your availability for sleepovers? Are we in a secret club?!" outburst that Manny (surprisingly) takes in stride.

Yeah, it's funny and shows just how much of an immature dork that Squire Graham is right off the bat, but... I kinda have the feeling that maybe he knows how Mordon feels? No, I'm not saying he was abused or hated by his peers back home like how Mordon is, but I kind of have the thought that maybe he grew up without many or really any sort of friends, even at the academy? Besides Mom and Dad (who, judging from Graham saying he was a Knight, is probably either retired or dead by this point), of course. I mean, he's scrawny and immature, and (possibly) named after a horrible pun, who would take a guy like him seriously? Who'd want to be pals with a weirdo like that, right? ;)
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: kyranthia on January 11, 2016, 08:53:08 PM
It could be that Manny heard Graham's whole "Let's be friends!" bit and figured Graham was a pretty easy mark.  Here was a guy that could easily be manipulated.  Of course we know Graham becomes a knight and eventually king.  But maybe something that happened in the meantime ticked Manny off.

We may see later that Edward chose Graham for the quest and Manny felt more slighted.  He's not at the castle in the opening of Chapter 2.  So maybe we will find out later what he's been up to and why he's not in Graham's castle.
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: GrahamRocks! on January 11, 2016, 08:57:36 PM
Well yeah, it's obvious that he considered him an easy target regardless. Also, he ran off at the en of chapter one. "Knight, schmight!" he probably figures, "I'll find another pawn somewhere else!" which is something every good mastermind needs: a good, malleable puppet. He failed with Graham, but Mordon...
*shakes head frantically* Nope. Nope. We've gone over this in the last chapter, and I still don't buy it. We both agreed that it wouldn't work, albeit for completely different reasons.
Title: Re: Kings Quest 2015
Post by: Numbers on January 12, 2016, 02:57:32 PM
Next thing you know, chapter 3 is going to have a little green pixie named Lolly, chapter 4 will have a middle-Eastern stereotype named Abdulo, and chapter 5 will have a tiny effeminate wizard named Shadrose. And along with Manny and Mordon, they will all be equally nonthreatening.
I really hope they don't go that route.  I guess we'll see though.
I think they're for picking open the container at the top of the weed ladder; which I believe is where the goblins store any contraband that you get caught with.
Also, one other tip I neglected to mention.
When you get the frog, you can give it to Chester before using it to catch a fly.  It'll act as a source of nourishment for them, and help him remember the "eye of a fly."
Only played a bit of it so far but suffice to say that autosave feature is a HORRID choice for this chapter. I can't even restart the dang chapter to fix my mistakes.
Of course I get the chopsticks to pick the door and get the flour, and they don't work so now the whole game is screwed and I lose a goat and that baker's wife. I know they probably aren't dead given the lighthearted nature of the game but c'mon. Just let me restore. Really soured my experience with a game I otherwise really like.
The Issue has been resolved where the Knights are wearing socks, plus you can see a glimpse of a Horse wearing socks when Graham is pressured by the guards on what everyone wants to do at the beginning of Chapter 2 Thats why when you went to the Bridge in the rain, the Horn Piece is already there.
