lol, the funny part is that we didn't even have to touch SOAP at all!  The Web Service did all the "soapifying" and "desoapifying" (hahah I know that's not the official word but it's what me and my group members call it :P) for us.

It was like: Go!... OMGWTF Is this s*** soap??  OMG IT IS!  OMFG!!  WE RULE!

Considering we were freaking out Saturday cuz we couldn't get anything to work, we were literally celebrating.  ;D

SOAP, did you meant soap like bathsoap or did you meant Simple Object Access Protocol

....hmmm brings back memories ....in both cases ; )

hmmm perhaps this helps:

Soap (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsoap/html/understandsoap.asp)
Soap ; ) (http://www.bathheaven.com/handcrafted_soap.htm)

...had a course in it and did some exploring myself, quite intresting how it works ; / (ie. I was referring to the first link ; )

Oh, good. I would be a tad worried if they offered classes on figuring out the second link. ;)

At any rate, unfortunately the M$ website doesn't play nice with Opera. (Gee, what a shocker!) It's OK, if I get curious, I'll google for it. I was mostly just bemoaning the fact that I'm not even any good at being geeky. :P

Peace & Luv, Liz

Yeah, using SOAP turned out to be the easiest part of the project.  We had to make a component in C# and testing app in VB.NET, then make the testing app a client, and component a server (because they had to be on two separate computers) and then have the server component communicate with a MS Access database.

SOAP was just for the C# to VB.NET communication.  But after struggling with http stuff for the client/server communications we used ASP.NET Web Services and IIS on the server-side and everything started falling into place.  ;D The write to database commands (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) didn't seem to work with Web Services, but I don't think the prof noticed.  :P

hmmm.... if they didn't work I'm wondering if you put that in your report ; )

kinda reminds me to the first time I had to program in java. we got a huge project that had to work client/server... wasn't that hard but we had to work with 30 ppl on one project and had to make our own protocol. The communication really sucked cuz all the teamleaders were constant argueing with each other

lol, needless to say that when we put everything together nothing worked ; ) hahaha..... I had to work (with 2 other students) a few nights non-stop to clear that mess (lol, and some students were lousy programmers) and we only succeeded for 50%

when we had our presentation the prof didn't notice that it wasn't fully working C/S  ...but he did notice it later ; )

lol, anyways; congratz Yonkey and good luck with your report ; )
