:S That question has me a little worried.....I plead the fifth!  I have no height, or perhaps I am infinitely tall!  I'LL NEVER TELL!!!!!

Well, Q, it determines if you'll be able to grab the bat from me...*holds bat over head*  You can't reach it until you tell me how tall you are!

B'rrr what do you have against the American way of measuring?  Well, I'd tell you in cm, but I can't find a ruler right now, so I can't convert!  I will after I find one!

Since it's inches to centimeters, I'll tell you there's 12 inches in a foot.

I'm 5'7", or 67 inches, or 170cm. And I'm afraid I've stopped growing. (Poo!) And I agree, the metric system is better than the Imperial one.

Don't rub it in my face!  I'd love to be even an inch taller...I was trying to reach in the top of my closet two nights ago and had to get Donna to reach the folder I was trying to get!  At home, I can't reach the top shelf in the kitchen cabinets...have to go get a stool  :'(...I'M SO SHORT!...just one inch...I'd be happy with just one more inch!

You're the same height as my mom, Koko. I think, anyway... my mom's either 5'2" or 5'4".

And I wouldn't sweat it. Guys seem to like petite women best, so you're all set. ;) (Well, either that, or they like really tall women. Not 'tweenies like me, though. Why couldn't I get those extra two inches to be the height my doctor guessed I would be? Plus it would spread out my weight a bit more so I wouldn't be so chubby!)

Heh.   When I was in Grade 6 (around 11-12 yrs old) I wasn't particularly tall.  About 5'3"....and I was shorter than a few people, especially the gals.

I moved to Germany, but after 3 years, I moved back to the same neighbourhood.  When I came back, I was taller than most of the people I hadn't seen in 3 years.  It was cool.  Being big and surly has it's advantages.  (some disadvantages, but they're minor. :))

I'm either 164cm or 169 cm (been a long time since I was measured). IIRC, when I converted that a time ago I got to 5'9''. Either way, I am, and always have been, one of the smaller/-st guys. I can't even reach the top closets at work! :-\

Actually, I really like tall women.  A lot.  5'9" - 6'2".  Crazy sexy. :lovegoggles:

But, I've also realized that I'm not that picky.  Only girl I've been in love with was 5'2 1/2"  (she always stressed the 1/2! :D)

So, I figured as a general rule, anywhere between 5' and 6'4" is a good range to go for.

(I'm 6'0" myself, btw)

Well, considering the guy that I'm talking to (who I still won't know if anything's going to come of it until October) is around 6'1"...my 5'2" is a big difference...
Title: Re:OMG TEH KIMMEH'S BDAY THREAD!

The guys here in Western MA tend to be uniformly tall... it's pretty wack.

As for being really tall... my pediatrician guesstimated that I would end up being 5'9"... I WANT THOSE TWO EXTRA INCHES, DARN IT!

No guy's gonna date me anyway, so I might as well make life easier on myself access-wise. But no, I can grow pimples and love handles, but no extra height inches! Life is unfair. ;P

Title: Re:Just the right size :P
Post by: J-ROC on August 09, 2004, 05:48:35 PM
You should measure yourself with the same measuring device, too.  Taking a ruler and using your finger as a reference, and then measuring up again from there doesn't count! :D

I'm just glad I'm taller than my father.   ;D
Title: Re:Just the right size :P
Post by: Say on August 09, 2004, 06:30:11 PM
Being tall is not always peachy  :-\, I don't recall having many friends/whatever else taller than me anyhow (Im talking about guys on this matter) so I always felt bad about that, not that it really matters anymore. The only men that I knew that were taller than me are 1 of my brothers ;P AND the rest were foreing ppl staying here...

so what is the problem? seriously is not the men perse, it is that EVERYTHING is designed for the average height... which is a bit tiny sometimes and I go from clothing to everything else, it is annoying ya know :P

that was my point lol :)
Title: Re:Just the right size :P
Post by: Jeysie on August 09, 2004, 06:54:43 PM
I just like being on eye level with people... and since I tend to mostly hang out with men, and the men here are so tall, I wish I were taller. It's so awkward sometimes talking to a man who's significantly taller than me.

I can think of more than a few occasions in my retail jobs where a little more height would have been useful, but it doesn't apply as much in office work.

As for clothes, I already have so many problems finding clothes that fit... what's one more issue? :P

Actually, strangely enough, I have problems with my sleeves... for some reason the sleeves of most of my blouses only go to just past my elbow. I have no idea if this is some strange trend I never noticed before, or I just have freakishly long arms.

Peace & Luv, Liz

The thing that pisses me of about being shorter than average is that Jeans/trousers, shirts and sometimes Tshirts are always that little bit too big and dont fit right. I guess thats why I pretty much live in Jeans and (mostly) baggy clothes...
Title: Re:Just the right size :P
Post by: Yonkey on August 09, 2004, 07:13:01 PM
I prefer baggy clothes, but I find most shirts marked as "Medium" or "Large" fit a little TOO well.  :X

But it depends on the store and the kind of clothing you're looking at too.  Usually formal stuff is a bit more fitted.

I agree that the metric system kicks the imperial system's butt... now if you can convince the head monkeys and stick-in-the-muds in the US of that fact, I'll bow down and worship you. ;P

Say:  You're tall.  That's sexy.  Deal with it. ;)

Liz: Move to Mexico.  Almost everyone there is your height. :D  (not so much a fact, but at 182 cm, my little white head stuck out rather well. :)

As for clothing fit, with pants/trousers/whatever, I find that they need a length between 32 and 34.  If they had a 33 leg, that would be so perfect for me.

Shirts are all messed up for me.  My arms are too long for XL and my body's not quite big enough for XXL.  So I usually just go with XXL and things will be baggy on me.

It was England's idea. We'd have probably came up with a simplier, and more illogical, way of measuring.  :P

Now that I think of it...

Isn't there a system of measurement(not for measuring length), from the US?

And you're just the right size, Grundy... of course, you're also pending-married... darn. ;)

Peace & Luv, Liz

It's ok, don't worry about the pollies they're all too stupid to think of changing to metric.
And anyway, all the people that actually care about it, already use it... for example, all the scientists/physicists etc... They work in Metric, hell, most of the formulas etc are in metric Si units.
;)

And as for my height, I'm pretty short for a guy here... well, on the shorter end of average atleast.   8)

5'10" is the average height for men.  So no, you're not rather short.  Nor tall.

Try being 5'2" and not able to get into the top cabinet in the kitchen without a stool!  Another inch and I'd be able to...but noooo I'm just a little too short and I have to use a stool.

And about clothes that fit or don't fit.  I have a hard time finding pants that fit.  Jeans are fine as long as I go to Goody's and get their petite jeans.  But dress pants, no matter whether petite or regular, have to be altered and taken up at least an inch or so.  It's REALLY annoying.  Shirts are usually ok, as long as they're dressier shirts.  But if I get T-shirts, they're usually too long...*sigh*

I'm actually 5'5"  (165cm) not 162cm or whatever Jon wrote
He just likes to think he is more taller than me than he actually is!

I don't personally have issues with being my height except that I have to take up every pair of pants I buy without fail and I can never reach heigh cupboards or shelves in shops!  :-[

Title: Re:Just the right size :P
Post by: Jeysie on August 11, 2004, 05:58:23 AM
I could never wear "high" heel shoes... I'd fall flat on my face, and shortly after that my feet would cramp up so badly I'd never walk again. :D

I used to wear low-top boots... looked kind of like those men's yellow workboot type things, except they were black and came up only to the ankle.

Now I wear those new-fangled clunky boots... the best shoe trend since canvas shoes, IMHO. Of course, unlike the sorts of styles most women would wear, mine are wide-width, have wide rounded toes, go just-above-ankle-high with zippers, and have a large, flat heel that's only about an inch high at most. (Would have gotten flats, but they didn't have that style in my size. Poo.)

What size shoe does everyone wear? I wear a honkin' 9 to 9 1/2 wide. Women's shoes are actually sized somewhat logically here in the States, so that means I have 9-inch long feet. Whoo, canal boats!

Peace & Luv, Liz
Title: Re:Just the right size :P
Post by: koko_99_2001 on August 11, 2004, 07:23:44 AM
Of course, you have to remember that shoe sizes vary from country to country.  I'm a size 6 1/2 which is about a size 5 in the UK.  (just checked the shoe conversion tag on the shoes :P)  I love anything that will help me look taller...but with my lower back problems, I can't wear heels every day.

LN, I think you can run every day...but you've got to be in shape to be able to go 10 miles right off the bat.  With me, I'm lucky to make it a mile!
Title: Re:Just the right size :P

Running is very hard on the knees.  It's best to switch it up with other types of exercise.

My favorite boots were either my combat boots from the military (comfortable with a nice set of insoles) or the parade boots.  They go up the calf and had huge soles.  They were seriously badass...especially if you had a wicked spit shine on them.  8)

I know a guy that does/did run 10 miles everyday(he retired from work, so he might have had more time than most). He said he needed to keep in shape(I think a doctor told him that). He claimed he could eat anything he wanted, and not gain any weight.

It doesn't sound too hard to me, except for the amount of time it would take. Well... except that I'd probably too sore the next day, to even walk 1/2 a mile.  ;P

*looks at name of thread*

I'm over 5 foot, and under 6. I'll guess 5' 6".  :-\

I know a few people who can eat what they want and not gain the weight, even without running.

I know myself, and I hate running.  I should get into boxing again, because that is an intense, complete body workout.  For some of those guys to do twelve rounds amazes me.

I can't do any running for any serious length of time... and it has nothing to do with my knees and more to do with needing to wear goggles! :D

I like walking when I'm going somewhere, but it's boring to do just for the sake of itself and I don't have the time anyways.

I like swimming, but I don't have enough money to sign up at the local YMCA.

So... bleh. I could just not eat... then maybe I'd lose some weight. It's not like my job requires that much useful conciousness. ;P

That sounds like a GREAT plan, Say.  There's only one problem to that, though...you're not fat!

No seriously, in school I was always (one of the) shortest (don't recall if it was just of the men or of the entire class), and (one of the) skinniest.
I'm either 5' 7'' or 5' 5'', I'm not exactly sure about the last number in cms of my height. Anyway, either way, I'm too short, but perfect for my weight.
My shoe-size is about 42, don't know how to convert that to your measuring system. :-\

I vary in shoe sizes from 7 - 9  :o

Depends on the style and support as I have a high instep (apparently). Like some sketchers I have are a size 8, some other trainers I've got are 7 and my presto's are about a size 9 lol (woooo clown shoes!)

As far as Weight goes (I'm 8 1/2 - 9 stone depending on the day of the week lol) I've looked at all those stupid graphs where it has height and weight and on one i was freaking obesse for my heaight!! Then on another I was dangerously underweight  :-\

Lol tbh I dont care as long as I'm still happy about the way I look  :)

I am about 6'4ish or 193.04 cm, i weigh about 235 at the moment cause im fat, wear a size 13-14 depending on the brand of shoe, and i was never hit at all as a child.

Is it because it strips the oil from your skin?  I know my problem is excess oil, so a harsh cleanser is actually a good thing.  But they do make cleansers for dry skin.  I love St. Ives products.

I haven't had clear skin since I was 11. :(

My problem is my pores... as in they're always clogged. I've tried everything I can get my hands on that purports to unclog pores, but none of it seems to work.

And I don't know what to do at all about my chest, back, arms, and legs. I've had this area of little red pimples on the top outside of both forearms for years.

Peace & Luv, Liz
Title: Re:How tall are you?
Post by: koko_99_2001 on August 17, 2004, 08:22:15 PM
I know I have little red bumps on my forearms too.  Found out that it's actually hair that reaches the top of the skin and doesn't grow any further.  There's something you can put on it if you go to a dermatologist, but I'm not going to worry about it TOO much anymore.
