Imagine....

Someone signs up for the forum

They have a couple of questions, that they just have to ask. So they post their questions.
"Wow, I wonder how they'll answer!'"

Then Neil answers them, with "Sufferring"
*"AH!! !! !!, My monitor's trying to eat me!! !! !!"

They run away(in fear).

*or any other sentence, that would show the horror of seeing it in response to a question. :P

Quote from: Shadowfax on October 28, 2004, 09:51:19 AMWell, err, when I say "Sweet Sister," it is a semi-gospel, surrealist saying. Since I was born in Britain and Cat is from America it would make life rather awkward!
Distance is irrelative when you have the same bloodline. After all isn't it 'Blood [is] thicker than water'? I knew very well what you actually meant but I like to play with words and I couldn't let such an opportunity go by without me using it. 8)

Quote from: Shadowfax on October 28, 2004, 09:51:19 AMAs for me not living long enough...trust me...I have! I measure life in achievement, not in years and I have achieved 90% of all I really want/need to achieve!
I'd have preferred if you had put Rob's quote before that remark, because now it seems I did, and I had nothing to do with that. And I hope you never reach 100% because that would be a boring life indeed. Without anymore expectations... :X

Okay...errr...my computer appears to be dying at the moment...just can't seem to acces the forum server properly.

(If it was about the WMD thing and the moderators are blocking me then I apologise profusely! I just meant that as a generic comment and no more, I am aware that they are terrible weapons but I didn't mean anything specific, please don't ban me.)

I know this may sound crazy but it has become REALLY hard to use this site now so I will log off and await my fate tomorrow. As I said, if anyone is offended and is trying to block me I apologise (I hope not/don't think so, but I'm not taking any chances!)

Well, since I haven't been prosecuted for my knowledge of WMD's I will say CC that if I used VX* nerve gas then there would be no hope in hell you could protect the smiley's, 10mg will be enough to kill a man so a smiley?

*for the chemistry buffs among you then I will say it was developed by Britain in 1952 and its true name is: Ethyl S-2 diisopropylamino ethylmethyl-phosphonothiolate.

Phew, what a mouthful!

Just another avid fan of the adventure genre
who doesn't post very much, as you can see
from my post count.

I know, Kim... not too nice, but this -is-
the stabbing thread, so there's a certain
obligation I have and standard I must
uphold.

A cat can push a door open, if it's not completely shut, but can never pull a door open. Then there's also the wind that can open not completley shut doors. And ofcourse, let us not forget there also seem to be parents around, which have the uncanny ability to open doors, even if they are completely shut. :scholar:

 :stabs: the (magazine's) plastic-encasing (?) removing-monster that's roving around here.

To clarify the situation. I'm subscribed to certain magazines and they're deliverd by the post office in  (a light) plastic (bag). For one magazine it's because there's always some loose commercial folder enclosed (or even a CD/DVD), the other just so the post office men have something to write the address one (there's no addressing enclosed in it). Anyway, since I'm a bit behind on reading magazines, I like to keep them into their little plastic encasing until I'm ready, but due to that roving monster whenever I get home the plastic has already vanished. Even when I take the magazine to my room, still in the plastic, it doesn't take long for that monster to find it and remove it. :furious:

:stabs: MATLAB again... it was just merrily chugging its way through almost 5000 tracks... on the other hand, I can't expect it to know that I'm joking when I tell it to track every feature in the frame... this wouldn't be a problem if it didn't just decide to completely ignore the frame whenever I select a region of it (in which case, it should only be paying any attention to that region... instead it asserts that there is nothing there) >:(

Was it a Windows OS? If so, you probably could have just reinstalled the OS right overtop of your old one without losing your files. (I've done it a few times with various computers.)

Yep and Nope there were too many other problems I needed to straiten out as well so it was formated. (after I copied my files on to another machine. )

The Linux OS I installed didn't work either so I had to remove those as well. oh well. I have to set up my mail tomorrow.

We were. We ended up just reading off the values by eye. Less accurate in theory, but LabView wasn't working and it was two or three weeks in; so it wasn't worth trying to write a new program from scratch or trying to figure out what was wrong with it.

(http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/Smileys/default/knife.gif)I don't know how to pronounce Ygg.

It's a little tricky because y has passed through several orthographic conventions. In Old Norse, it represents the same sound as the French u or German ΓΌ: pronounce the oo sound as in food (your lips should be rounded), now, without changing the shape of your lips, pronounce the "ee" sound like in ski. If you succeed, you've just learned a new phone(me)!! :D Enjoy!

Alternatively, if you're feeling lazy as I often am when discussing my laptop :P, you can just pronounce it like "pig" without the "p". :P

What is the fuss about graduation anyways? I had a pretty smooth graduation! designed and programmed software that can compare any object with each other and select which is closest to it (ie. if you insert parameters for an apple it can figure out what comes closer; a bike or a grizzly bear).

Write a 200 page paper about it (or well, more like 50, and 150 pages of attachments), then had to present it, and done! \o/

Yeah... I don't get what's so bad about it either.

I had a final project to do prior to graduation, but it was fine.  I got to meet a great set of people, and learned new things throughout the whole process.  It may have been difficult, but just because something's difficult doesn't make it "bad".

Well, it's more than just graduation I'm waiting for, right after Jacob and I are moving into our apartment. No more long-distance! :D

Nothing's final until after final exams, which end four days before graduation. Shouldn't have any issues, just have to finish getting through and pass these last four classes.

Yeah!  Change is difficult for most people, but another way to look at it is that it's a challenge.  A challenge that you and you alone must overcome.  So yeah, it's not going to be simple or easy, but once you survive it, you automatically become a better person. :)
