Title: MacBook Pro Save freezing issue
Post by: Sassparella on July 09, 2017, 09:18:03 PM
I've just downloaded this game from Steam onto my Macbook Pro. It runs perfectly, but when I try and save the game it freezes. I bring up the save box either through the menu or using F5 and then click on New save. This highlights new save. Then I mouseover save, and it highlights. Then I click save and nothing happens, and nothing else will highlight in the box. Clicking on the x on the corner of the save box doesn't do anything the whole thing is locked up. I've tried at different resolutions and in windowed and non-windowed mode. I am able to quit from the menu and the music continues playing. The game saves at the first checkpoint ok, it's the manual save that's the problem. I also tried starting a new game in case the actual game was bugged.

This is in the first game location.

My mac is a 2017 15 inch Macbook Pro with 16GB RAM, Radeon Pro 555 with 2GB of memory and a 2.8GHz processor.

I am at a loss as it's not playable if I can't save.

Many thanks.

Okay in case anyone else has this problem, I seem to have solved it. Steam currently doesn't save a shortcut to your desktop when you install a game on Macs even if you tell it to, so as a workaround on the mac forums they suggest you create an alias to the actual file. That was what I did and that seems to be the probblem.

The game will run from the alias but can't save anything but a checkpoint save without this freeze.

If I run the game through the Steam interface then the saves seem to be OK. it's a pain but only a minor inconvenience.
