This thread is to discuss, the strangest Adventure game/s we've ever played. ;D
I'll start.
The two strangest Adventure game's I've played, are Shadow of Destiny, and Project Eden(which arguably isn't an Adventure game).
In Shadow of Destiny, you're murdered. You're supposed to go back in time, and stop it from happening. The strange part about it, is that you spend more time watching movies, than playing the game, and it's still fun. It also, makes it where you can erase yourself from existence, if you make a bad decision. Your also forced to die, not once, but multiple times in the game, to finish it.
That's just the more normal stuff about the game, it would be pointless trying to explain it's storyline. In fact, if you completely understand the plot, PLEASE tell me. XD
As for Project Eden, Action-Adventure is the best category to put it in(2/3 puzzle and adventure, 1/3 action). It requires you to control four different characters. You control one at a time, the AI takes control of the other three, until you decide to switch characters(think 3D Gobliiins, with AI). The puzzles, require only simple logic. To go thru fire, choose the robot. To fix the broken camera, use the mechanic. It also had one of the strangest levels I've ever seen, it was basicly a house of mirrors(and glass). You can also play multiplay, and only control one of them, while the rest are controlled by other people. It also has a racing, Capture the Flag, and Deathmatch mode for multiplay, but the traps, means they don't live up to their names(push the wrong button, fall thru a trap door, etc).
Well, I didn't plan on making such a long post. :P
*waits for next poster*
I remember this "Phantom of the Opera" game... It had a Lucasarts GUI and a timer error made the game crash after act 1...Don't remember much else. I could never find any trace of that game later...its like it was wiped off the face of the earth. Creepy.
The strangest adventure I ever played was "Of Light And Darkness". You can read my "review" of it Here (http://www.postudios.com/blog/forum/index.php?board=12;action=display;threadid=1018;start=msg34211#msg34211). Actually, the strangest thing about it is that it was name 'adventure' to begin with - I guess they just couldn't find a genre to fit that piece of crap :P
Project Eden is great :D, i bought that not long ago :), but i lost the savefiles for it :(
You ever finish it?
I tell you, whoever made that mirror/glass level, had a twisted sense of humor. :P
Yes the mirror level was really weird :-\, they were really mean to come up with an idea like that :(
Just read storms passionate dismissal of a certain "non-adventure game," I do love reviews that are full of passionate hate, they bring the best deadpan descriptions that money can't buy!
Thanks!
Bad reviews are so much easier to write than good ones :P
BTW what do you mean by 'deadpan'? ???
http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dictionary/deadpan
It's a description for humor--mostly meaning saying something with little or no change in expression a 'deadpan' tone. A comedian who tells jokes without actually cracking a smile would have a deadpan kind of humor (which sometimes adds to the humor itself).
deadpan and dry humour, they two different types, or the same ???

I am familiar with the expression itself, just not with particular meaning for it :-\
I bought Shadow of Destiny... very interesting game! :)
