Will the characters have the same clothing as previous games, or have you spiced the clothing up a bit by adding more details, for example changing Alex's royal garb?

BTW Will we see Rosella in a red dress or in a blue dress? :P

The clothing has definitely been spiced up!  We're going from 2D resolutions of 640x480 to 3D resolutions of 800x600 and up. XD

There are several costumes for the main characters, and some of which are based on costumes from previous games.  But I'm not saying who's wearing what, do I look like I'm hosting the Oscar's red carpet?? ;P

As for Rosella, you'll just have to wait and see. :suffer:

Well, Graham's the only one who's got a 'default' costume anyhow, but all the others didn't really have clothing that was firmly defined for them. So yes, just about all the clothing is new, and particularly chosen, for various reasons. Heh, and yeah, we see a few changes of wardrobe now & then.

But beyond that, you'll just have to wait & see!  ;D

Hmm, Like Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll's House" where Nora wheres a colourful shawl when she is happy and carfree and slips on a black one when she is considering suicide?

Hmm, for once I can say I have done a "one up" on the KQ IX team; for my version Rosella has at least 18 different dress types (I am a bit of a detail fanatic you see so I draw loads of stuff on one character and then fit it into the story; this is why she has so many!)

To answer the original question, I believe I can say that the old costumes have certainly been looked at, and have at the very least had some influence on some of the characters.

I've seen a sampling of the new costumes, and I must be frank when I tell you that they will simply blow you away. The attention to detail in the texturing process is just staggering. Don't believe a word Michael says when he says he doesn't know what he's doing. His knowledge of fabrics positively frightens me.  ;)

In all honesty, though, folks, enjoy the suspense, and know that you will most certainly NOT be disappointed.  :)

When you say Rosella's red dress... you mean the one in KQ4? I always thought that was brown.  :S Maybe it was my monitor?

Rosella's dress was red... the tree trunks were brown. Unless you played it in CGA like I did - then her dress was magenta and the tree trunks were cyan ;P

please dont change alexanders yellow and green uniform..that was awesome!! i loved it. unless..it is superdy dupered up...  ;D

I love fashion, and I am especially atracted to medeival/historical costumes. I've seen some screenshots and portraits of characters, the clothes they wear in them are really cool.  I love the costumes of Rosella in the previous games, Graham costume is a classic, Valanice's dresses are cool and ALexander's outfit in KQ6 is awesome. I like Cassima's costume too. I am so eager to see the new costumes. I even tried making KQ paperdolls once, but i need to be able to get the faces right. I'm gonna have to redraw my Rosella doll, just doesn't look right. When I get it right then I will show my paperdolls to everyone.

This poll has become a reality, not only out of curiosity out of what they will wear, but also becuase I want to hear the other fans' oppinions. I personally would have to go with Rosella in the third teaser trailer, the one dress that looks like it belongs in Louis XVI's court. As for Valenice definitely the family portrait. 

I think it will be the blue one, because you're not sure in the trailer, what shes wearing and in KQVII her dress is blue.

But in KQVII Valenice dresses in green and this time she will most likely be wearing either red r purple (on the basis that she is a leading mornach and purple is the colour of royalty, and she is wearing pruple in the wallpaper)

I think you'd get more responses if you were to post or link to the specific dresses rather than have people searching through the media section trying to find them.

I thought about doing that, but can't since the link to the wallpaper has been taken down. The white-and-gold sheath, you can find under the media/promos/ section under the third trailer and you can find the family portrait there too.

IMO the best ones are those they wear in the wallpapers/last trailer... I really liked the textures on those, especially the floral embroidery :)

I thought about doing King's Quest paperdolls, I drew a doll for Rosella, am not pleased with how she looks. I must draw her doll again. Then I will do Valanice, then Graham, then Alexander, and Cassima and Edgar as well. I must do Rosella first becasue she is my favorite.

Actually, If you recall, that's the reason she got into that whole adventure in the first place. During the intro to KQ7 she's whining and complaining about how she only wants to have fun and then she gets sidetracked by the dragonet and jumps into the pond, completely ignoring her mother. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but for a girl who's almost twenty, I'd say that's pretty selfish and immature. But yes it is just a game and granted she does mature somewhat toward the end. Anyway, I just thought I'd try to explain without giving anything away  :suffer:

Rosella was being a bit childish, but she wasn't ready to get married yet. Her mother really wanted her to marry someone that she didn't love. Rosella took her chance at adventure and scared her mother half to death. :P

I'm hoping for more realism for the charactors.
So I'd like to see lots of different outfits for all the leads.
My fav for Rosella is probaly the one she wears in KQ IV.
(Can't really remember it that well though...)

If there's anything I learned from the May 15th chat, it's that the characters WILL have more realistic personalities.

I Actualy just started playing KQ VII just now.
(I took me forever to get it running in Win Xp)
I'm starting to like her outfit in it, but I still think the
more clothes the charactors wear the better.
(As long as they don't change clothes every screen LOL)

One of the reasons I like KQIV is becasue Rosella changes her outfit a couple of times.

She starts out wearing a white, turquoise and blue trimmed dress, then Genesta dsiguises her as a peasant girl in a red dress. If you get caught by the goons at the end, you have to marry Edgar, and Rosella wears a black dress with magenta sleeves for the dark wedding. I also like her blue dress in KQVII, Only clothing change there is when Rosella wears the black cloak over her outfit.
