After reading some of the posts about different nations/regions having different senses of humor(most posts referring to English humor), I got the idea for this thread.
If you could name one comedian, that was the embodiment of a nation's/region's sense of humor, who would it be?
For instance, if you listened to a Jerry Clower (http://www.cmt.com/artists/az/clower_jerry/bio.jhtml) CD, you'd probably get a good idea of Southern humor. As far as completely American humor, I can't think of anyone. :-\
Note
Feel free to name more than one comedian. 8)
hmmm... typical dutch comedian is Andre van Duin
if you listen to it you should.... at least know dutch in order to understand it ::) :-\ :P
I know a few Australian comedians but I don't really know which one is best :-\
In order to name the embodiment of American humor you'd have to name at least 52 different comedians. ;P
While obviously not a single comedian, I'd say that The Daily Show With Jon Stewart showcases the humor of the cynical liberal crowd pretty well. I seldom watch stand-up comedy any more, so I can't offer any names there.

I could name several comedians, but it would be rather pointless since I'm pretty sure no one here is familiar with them, or would be able to understand their humor - the language & culture barriar is too high :-X

Jim Owen or someone. Dont know if i got his name spelt correctly :-\. We hear about him lots though. I dont know of any others........
Yes you spelt his name wrong :P, and also hes Irish :P, hes still good though XD
Another good one is Billy Connely :D, but hes Scottish ;D
Improv is tons of fun, I found a local club nearby that involves the audience in a "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" style. It is great fun, maybe I'll be one of the actors on stage someday! :D
I agree, I think Improv is the best sort of comedy. ;D Back when Harrison and I first met he was the soundman for an improv troupe at his college, and he used to take me to several improv shows. The best was the Improv Olympics, I think it was called, where many troupes from all over the area would join up and do performances all day. Wicked fun!

Two Australian comedians that work together are Lano and Woodley :D
Roy & HG entertain us throughout the olympics too :D
oh yeah, and.......merrick & rosso unplanned
There is another comedian that I know he even has his own TV show where he interviews famous people :D
His name is Rove, and he is the creator of "What the...?"
...and I thought you were the creator ::) ;-D
I was the creator of the polls ;), the polls I create are very different from his "What the...?" :-\
For the polls I really just have the name and the concept is completely different ;), but still some of the polls do make you think "What the...?" :P
Like "Why the...?" ;)

"Why the...?" just isn't as good as "What the...?" :P
BTW Carl Barron is another good comedian :D
