Post by: Rosella on November 13, 2004, 08:59:02 AM
My mom got me Myst...I played it for hours...Still have no clue what the premise is either.

Treat it like 2001; A Space Odyssey... all strange, tantalizing stuff that no-one really understands, but could not care less, for understanding it defeats the point...

You must mean, "treat it like a very long yawn, that everyone say is soooo great and artistic, but you can't stay awake through half of it if you were sitting on nails" ::)

I haven't. I haven't even played the first one, and from what I've heard around here, I'm begining to think I shouldn't :S

I've played Myst, and I'd say it was a good game(the next two are HORRIBLE, unless you buy a DVD version :P ), I didn't like it much though(I found it boring :-\ ).

Uru on the other hand, I'd say's a fun game(only played the demo, but I found the Uru demo more fun than the entire game of Myst). 8)

So, it's good but boring? what's good about it? I mean, boredom is a pretty big minus in a game. I wouldn't play a boring game... that would be too much like work :P

Ok.

*Waits for someone who didn't find it boring to appear*

*appears :D*  YAY!

Um... actually, I probably don't count.  I cheated the whole way through Myst, and Riven, too. *shame!*

But I thought Riven (Myst 2) was much better than Myst in terms of graphics and plot.  It's much, much harder, though.

The Myst series as a whole seems to be something that people either love or hate.  Couldn't hurt to just find out for yourself ;)

Yeah you either love it or hate it... I happen to be a big fan of the Myst series simply for the mind blowing puzzles lol... the graphics and sound are definitely the series high point... very lush and beautiful... with wonderful ambient sound that gives you the feel of really being there... but a word of advice for anyone who hasnt played these games they can be rediculously difficult due to so very unlogical puzzles so if you're not a patient person this game is definitely not for you... I do suggest however if you are interested in playing the first Myst get the real Myst version. Instead of the crappy slideshow graphics it is in full 3D... well anyway theres my 2 cents lol.

I love the Myst games... though it was a bit lacking in random villagers telling you what to do... ;)

Myst IV certainly does a good job of finally having more people involved in the story at least. ;)

I agree that this is a great game...but the first one made me feel all lonely and isolated.

I mean I'd play for hours and not see ANYONE (either in real life or in the game).  I had to relearn how to communicate in English after each lengthy gaming session.

Hey, and give me a break. I grew up on a farm and had a lot of time on my hands. lol
