The music is FANTASTIC. The voice acting is great, although the mic quality isn't professional, but good.
EDIT: The voice actor for Graham is great, by the way.
by the way, just wanted to add that this is not the final mix. So.. it will sound much better, worry not ;)
oh, and, by the way... the music you guys hear is the Main Theme of King's Quest IX :D
Amazing suff, I tell you... ;)
I especially like the harp. Very KQ-ish ;D
Guys, everything looks and sounds awesome! :D I <3 the sound clip and music!
Here you can discuss any speculations and theories you may have and voice your opinions on the acting and music in the recently posted voice clip (found here (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/clips/EdgarGraham.mp3))
Who is this "her" Edgar mentions?
Who are "they" that King Graham instructs edgar to return to Daventry with?
Why does Graham need good luck!?
Speculations away! ;p
Woo! I was wondering when someone would make a thread about it! XD
I won't be answering any of these questions :suffer: but when I first heard this clip I thought that our Graham sounds extremely close to the actual Graham (Josh Mandel) voice, if not better! ;D
"her" is definitely Rosella...not sure who "they" are, though...
AWESOOOOOOME!! ;D
Are you sure you didn't get Josh Mandel to do Grahams voice? That's waaay too similar to believe it's someone else.
Okay...it's obvious who "her" is...not sure about "them".
/me starts spectulating.
Also who is Edgar talking to in the beginning of the clip?
Himself, I think. That explains the echo, with all that empty space in his head. :suffer:
Okay okay, sorry. When I see a joke opportunity... :sweating:

hahaha, meanieh :P
My impression when he says "what good am I to her...like this." is that he must have gone under some change physically or maybe emotionally to make him not the same... or something.
And the clip brought more questions to me like: Where are they? Like when Graham says "what are you doing here?" Where is here? And I have another query: Where is Graham going or What is Graham doing to make Edger wish him good luck? When Edger says "I heard you were leaving, I just came to wish you good luck."
"What would YOU know?"
I dont think that he's talking to himself.
OMFG, That is so much awesomeness!! ;D ;D ;D

I was thinking the same thing... they sound so much like 'themselves', it's scary 8)

Obviously, with Edgar there can be only one "her" ;)
Quote from: Drunken Chinchilla on December 27, 2004, 09:26:49 AMWhy does Graham need good luck!?
Because he's going on a quest, silly :P
I can't speculate anything, so I just wanted to say that it's a very cool clip!
I agree on the Graham actor comments, it's like having Josh+. ;D And it's nice to hear a finished clip of Jon's voice. I did hear a rather amusing "raw" clip of him recording with Mike. He really is Edgar, it's scary!
Will we get any more snippets in the future, or was this simply a Holiday Fun deal? (I vote for a Narrator clip... *hums innocently*)
Peace & Luv, Liz

I think he is. There doesn't seem to be anyone around. Besides, when people talk to themselves they might address inanimate objects, like the kitchen wall, or some small fluffy animal :S
Well I was actually thinking that Edgar may have joined with some kind of evil being, which he is talking to. He realizes he is no good to Rosella as this evil thing, which also makes sense that he is surprised/scared of Graham.
Interesting... :suffer:
And yeah, I hope we hear more voice clips in the future. :)
isn't it?
speculations, speculations
I love them
makes me :suffer:

Would be my opinion on it. ;D ;D
Oooooo!!!!! Is there more, yet!
In keeping with the KQIX Christmas Special, we have just posted another new voice clip teaser! This one features Alexander and Sarah.
Enjoy! 8)
Wow. This is just crazy good.
Connor locked WHO up? >:(
And what happened to the castle?
Who is this "enemy"? Ahhh! I need to play the game! :o
***makes it his startup sound, in Windows/Linux :D
or I will...as soon as I convert it ;P
******GETS A BETTER IDEA !!!
*********** plays "he locked me up!" in an infinite loop :D
and that I really did(and am still doing) ;P
Wow! This is great!
Jafar: from the sound of it, Connor locked Alex up...
And, all the speculation that Rosella and Connor might end up together somehow, well, Sarah and Connor are married, from the sound of it.
I knew he locked Alex up. That's why there was an angry smiley. What a loser....though I have to admit, he thought he was doing the right thing.
And then theres the castle. Castle Daventry, I'm sure, but what happened to it? Who is this "enemy"? That part had me worried. I wouldn't want anything to happen to the castle that all of us King's Quest fans have been adventuring from for so long...
At least, nothing a good adventure will fix. ;D
I should listen to it again, see what other info I can dig up.
I'm enjoying your speculations as much as the clip itself! XB :)
Connor is FAR from being a loser in KQ9, but I can't say why ;)
:suffer:
Man those voice clips were awesome to the max. I wanna hear one of the narrator, it'd be super cool if he sounded just like the one from KQ6. That guy was pretty cool.
!!!
WOW! That new one is really something! Am I right in saying that was Mike voicing Alexander? Anyhow both actors/actresses (whatever the PC term is lol) were really good, want more!
Mike does indeed voice Alex, and he is AWESOME! Honestly, no one else came close to being Alex. We heard him read and were like, that's it! No contest! ;D
They do both do a great job in that clip. :)
Thank you, guys! :)
Yes, I've been gone from the forums for a long time. I had a moment to breathe and was just reading through them.
Thank you for the wonderful comments. Although, I think I read some of the lines very unnaturally and would like to do them again. But Cesar is pleased, so maybe I'm just my own worst critic ;).
Thanks again!
Darn it!! >:( >:( :furious:
Must you put up new voice clips on the one month in the past 2 years when I'm disconnected?!? none of the computers at either my work or the university have sound cards!! :bomb:
Oh, cruel, cruel fate :( :'( ;P
Hmmm...and I guess emailing them to you wouldn't help either, huh :(

Not unless you emailed her a sound card.
....wait, that doesn't really work, does it? :P ::)

Awww poor Storm! :-\ ...:suffer:
J/K, but are you sure none of the uni computers have sound cards? The ones in mine have sound cards, but no speakers (people can plug in headphones if they really need to listen to KQIX sound clips ;P). Some computers had internal speakers too.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this clip! The volume of Sarah is a bit lower than Alex's, but this isn't the final mix of it anyway. There is even more to this clip, but we trimmed it because it revealed a little too much. 8)
I enjoyed hearing the sound clips. Good work.
If she has a cassate/DVD/CD player, and she isn't going to be able to get online for a long time(with a PC capable of audio), and if she's willing(or has) to give her address, AND if someone's willing to pay for the shipping...
we could send it to her? ;P
Thanks for all your concern :)
I thought about e-mailing it to myself, then went 'Doh!' :P
Quote from: Yonkey on January 06, 2005, 08:47:40 PMare you sure none of the uni computers have sound cards?
I'm sure some of them do... but not any of the ones I can use :( Well, except for the macs, but the mac lab was being used at the time :-\
Anyways, fear not! I'm now on a fully audio-capable computer and about to listen to it right now! ;D
Enjoy! :D
Whoo hoo! Storm gets to listen to the teaser clips! :D
Woo! That's great, Storm! !!!
*waits to hear Storm's speculations* :P

Owww, I could speculate all day over that! as a matter of fact I am :o
*twitch* Gram??!?!?!?!?!?!?!
FINALLY got around to listening to them. Wow. Me like. they give you so MUCH to speculate on. rrg. must know what's up with Edgar. Those Daventry folk, always going off on adventures.
I realize i know very very little about connor, aside from what i've picked up around the forum. makes me wish i'd had the patience to get through some of the blasted game. So i listen to that alex/sarah clip(sudden realization as to who sarah is) and there's a bit of "Huh?"
good voices, though. i do like them.
Hey cool music, really great acting! Excellent.
The graham voice could use some better mic tech as stated earlier and I think the delay is overused. It should be more ambient. Imho =)
So cool though
When I was listening to the clip I heard a young voice and felt very disapointed and was thinking *THIS is the voice of graham? it doesn't match at all =(* Then heard the second voice and was very releaved. That is a great voice for Graham, it sounds like the orginal actor but more mature *to match Grahams upping in years* I am very pleased.
The first voice you heard was Edgar. :P
I never really played most of the KQ series. I just played 1 & 2 from AGDI. When I was about 13, I would come over my sisters dad's house to play the KQ games he had on his old windows 3.1. I was intiminated by the game and thought it was over my head so I barely played it, and just watched him and my sister Play.
I remember seeing the "devil" in KQ6 and he asked Alex to show him something, so I blurted out the answer thinking I was funny. So it turned out what I blurted out was the item to use.
So I still have kq 3 - 7 to play :P
lol 5 and 6 are the best ones imo, play those now =)
Wish I can. When I open the game in dosbox it works wonderfully. The only problem is saving games. It tells me to change directories but whatever I add it says its invalid. Someone told me to change the directory from dosbox, but never told me how to do that exactly. If anyone could help, I would be greatful.
well if worse comes to worse, you can play these versions of them.
they dont come with any voice packs, so its only if you are desperate lol

Not that I'm a Mod or anything, but Abandonware links aren't allowed to be posted here. Please remove it. Thank you.
(Did I sound official or what? ::) )
Very official, Jafar! Congrats! 8)
To be even more official, no, links to warez (of any kind) aren't allowed. I've notified the other moderators who have powers in this section about it and it will be edited out shortly.
Refrain from doing it again HoboknightQuote6. No direct or indirect links to cracks, warez or abandonware.
Sorry about that Hobo. In all fairness to him, he already knew I have the real CD of the game, and gave me that as a last resort.

It's valiant, but it breaks the rules still.
Next time just e-mail the link or use an instant messenger program (but not the site's built-in one, mind you). KQ9.org does not condone the use of warez or other software pirating, since it is technically illegal, but what you do on your own time away from the forum is not their responsibility. Furthermore, any advertisement or promoting of warez/abondonware usage is not allowed, even if you do not make a direct link to them. Again, use some other means than the forum for this.

Reminds Vipt that he is not the forum police... My message already said this, so please in the future don't elaborate when it has already been addressed,
I say this of course respectfully...
Back on topic, Graham's voice sure does kick ass XD

I don't know if it's still relevent, but if the directory in which you want to save your games isn't a sub-directory of the game directory, you should mount it in dosbox before starting up your game :-\

Yeah agreed. Whenever I think about Kings Quest I think about Graham's voice. It kicks ass.
The voice of King Graham is excellent, I feel that it does justice to his excellent voicing in KQ5. Also, if the music during the clip is any indication of how the music is going to be throuhout the game, than i'm hooked, b/c it fits the mood perfect and is arranged with just the right instrumentation for the mood. Great work thus far!
Now it just needs to come out, lol, i can't keep playing KQ 5 and 6 forever....oh wait...yes I can :suffer:
I'm not sure if that sound clip is final or not, but yes the music will be of that calibre. :) And if you haven't already, check out the Music (http://www.postudios.com/archivedTSL/media/music/) section for more amazing tracks. ;D
i've listened to them all actually, lol, i've been a lurker for quite some time. All of the music is excellent IMO
