I hate classes like that where your whole grade rests on two tests. I had a class like that in college and it wasn't too hard but it was still pressure-filled by having your grade rest on two tests. :suffer:

Well I went to England for two months when I was young with my parents. We stayed in Oxford which depressed us sometimes and we were told it was due to the climate and/or polution. However, the depression would go away when we visited London. I remember that I loved the hologram shop they had in Oxford and got all sorts of holographic trinkets there. We saw the Tower of London (the Crown Jewels), went to castles such as Warwick and Sudley Castle and did all kinds of great stuff. I think I still have all my guidebooks in storage somewhere at my folks house. I wonder if I have any holographic stuff left? Anyway, I went to study in Greece a few years ago when I was in University and had a great time. My major was Classics which was in the Humanities area. I was never really good at math. My minor was Cultural Anthropology and I remember enjoying that too. Computers have always fascinated me since my Dad taught me BASIC computer programming on Dad's IBM PCjr. Anyway, I have also been to Mexico with friends, Canada as a middle school trip, to New Zealand on a missions trip with my church and across the States. I really want to visit Ireland next and also want to see Australia and possibly Egypt at some point. The pyramids, their writing, the sphinx, etc. have always fascinated me even though I took one class on Egypt and it was an 8am class so I did not feel fully awake before 9am classes and only ended up with a C in that course but I felt fortunate to get a C in that class because it was hard, imo. Anyway I give the balance of my time to Kimmie or someone else. LOL!!!!

I know many, many people who tried to force me into Oxford university (for English/Sciences etc...), citing I was wasting my supposed intelligence in their view. However, I managed to escape! (basically my more brutal force of will was superior to theirs!) Whilst I do admit I have a strong dislike of universities part of my reasoning was that I wouldn't be able to stand the academics there! (Useless people half of them, they can tell you everything about nothing but when it comes from sending a parcel from a-b, forget it...well...thats in my experience anyway!)
Still, here I am and I am happy (and is that not what counts?) ;D

but i dont really think that all uni has to offer. it is a socialising thing too, its a step from school and you meet alot of interesting people from all over the world, in my class i hav 3 amercians, chinese, hungarian etc
Hmmm, well its that socialising thing that I also bear a grudge against! (The whole "interesting people from around the world," proved to form a vital part of my original downfall earlier in my life; don't ask...very, very complicated to explain!)
After all the nonsense I endured many years ago, I gave up and then stormed back into the world, "guns blazing," and damned if anyone was going to stop me!
Still, glad you (like many others I know) are enjoying university and that people like me are in the absolute minority (indeed, I know of no-one else who shares my antiquated opinions on the matter!)
well its an experieince, you either do it or you dont. but i think the people who do knock it without tryin must hav a good enough reason to.
life is all about trial and error and uni isnt for everyone...but hey atleast i can say im giving it a go

Seriously though, it's good that you are doing what you enjoy and are exploring a wide range of subjects (at least cheerleading is less physically demanding than 250 SuperKart driving, after an intensive days driving I lost a couple of pounds in sweat alone!)

One of the things I like about the Internet is the chance to meet people from other countries... it's hard to get a non-FUD view of other cultures through "usual" US channels.
I think you'll do fine at University, Kimmie... you're not stupid like you always make yourself out to be, you've got a good brain there. Certainly a finely creative one, which is the best sort, IMHO.

Do not worry, I don't need either for reasons that I won't go into here (not being sociable does hurt on occasion as I do get very,very lonely but when I see disasters befall others around me I do sometimes feel a lot safer being the lone maverick no-one quite understands and can turn to should they need a simple, direct source of comfort; such is life eh?)

Kimmie: I wouldn't worry much about academics. I mean, it's important, but I think that creativity is what's truly useful. Even academics need to be creative to really be useful with their knowledge!
Shadow: Well, it depends on who you're sociable with! ;) Man was not meant to be alone, after all, we're naturally "pack animals". Still, nothing wrong with being a loner (I'm a loner myself, though more due to inability to socialize than due to lack of desire to socialize).

Don't worry Jeysie, I myself have a slight problem and I have to rely upon my skills as an actor when the need arises.
I agree with the whole "pack-animals," thing! But still, my difficulty lies in the fact that I steadfastly refuse to peform various common social activities (for more long, boring, complex reasons) which people find strange since I often spend my time doing various radical things (such as SuperKarting, Flying Lessons, Computer Engineering etc...) They class me as a social "Radical-Ultra Conservative!" (now thats not a combination you see/hear everyday!)
But still, I do agree that being sociable does depend a lot on who you hang out with (which in my part often involves a bunch of grumbling engineers!)
As for the whole "someone for everyone" debate, you could argue that if you desire a special someone strong enough, fate will reward you with the chance!
I believe that there is someone for everyone, but that doesn't necessarily guarantee it'll happen, there's a lot of possible extenuating circumstances.
As for being sociable, Shadow, I find I tend to end up doing most of my socializing with barbershoppers, who are quite a delightful crowd indeed.

As for the whole "extenuating circumstances," thing, well I have to admit my studies into social/psychological programming and my various theories on the mechanics of "fate," often simply result in my mind boggling at just how complex human culture really is (then again, would it seem so complex to an alien race, after all, we still endevour in the basic processes of life; i.e. surviving, reproduction; and many of things we do are simply artifical extensions of the natural need to survive; i.e. we work to get money to get a comfortable habitat - home/food/warmth -, rather than simply hunter-gathering, we socialise in other ways apart from using brute physical appearance/statistics to find a mate and then create a new life; training that new life to accept society's artificial extensions of survival and so it goes on...)
If any of that made sense then I will be mighty pleased with myself!

I have seen so many lovely young ladies fall for some of these horrible greasy pieces of (inserted favourite derogatory word here!) that call themselves "men," (who desperately need a wash/shave/brain/sensitivity towards others) yet seem to follow them around everywhere, dough-eyed going "isn't he gorgeous!" (ohh that makes my blood boil!)
I have to admit, life is far too difficult nowdays for our own good; there have been many times when I have simply wanted to pack it in and live in a shack in the middle of the Iranian desert! (I am quite serious too!)
Still, at least my attempt at social philosophising hasn't gone pear-shaped yet! ;D

Ok, because this is Kimmie's thread and she asked and because Cat sends me a link every time someone replies now, I'll tell the story.
Firstly, I'm going to warn everyone, this is *not* a story for innocent people! (And I *told* Cat that, but she still wants to hear it...isn't that interesting? ::))
Anyways...
So, every year on the 4th of July, my friends and I meet up in the field where they have the fireworks with food. And money, so we can buy lots and lots of Del's lemonade.
Two years ago, one of my friends made the mistake of bringing Oreos, but only bringing one package. *BIG* mistake. No one was paying attention, so I got to the Oreos first. By the time anyone realized what was happening I'd already eaten about a sixth of the package. Anyways, so they made a move to stop me from eating the whole thing...but I was ready! I had the package in my hands, so I just turned away...and they knocked me over. So I was lying on top of the Oreos.
Well, that was just too much for them. They burst out laughing. I ignored them while I put another Oreo in my mouth. Then they explained what they were laughing at....
Well, *apparently* the position the Oreos and I landed in was...uhm.... interesting. ;]
Well, the way they told that made me laugh, so the Oreo I was putting into my mouth started to fall out, and I pushed it back in. That made them laugh even harder and they said I was "pleasuring" the Oreos.

Kimmie is back from her exciting yet absolutely shattering weekend at the BCA championships at Newport. Well in dance, even though after only 4 weeks practise we pulled off our dance on the last minute so damn well that i dont think we could hav done it better, and yet sadly we got 2nd place...and there were only 2 teams in LARGE DANCE. the reason i put that in caps is that the judge said that we got 2nd becuase our group was...too large?? ITS LARGE DANCE!
meh anyway, had a great time. omg the american cheerleaders are lke how i expected them to be! and the tiny weeny little girls (some of them looked about 3 or 4) were sooooo cute.
anyway didnt get that many pics coz u couldnt take them whuile the display was on...but i have these two...me and stef

i'm really quite scared. but heres the lowdown- im swapping to egyptian archeaology next year...*hopefully* i'm finding egyptology way to scary...the language side anyway. the archaeology is basically the same thing, only i drop the language part and do greek and minoan culture too. so that will suit me fine.
going on a local dig for my practical work in july which should be fun!
should be going to disney land paris and spain at some point this summer too!

The glow works for me, but it's alot weaker now. You can increase the glows affect, but the sides are still weak. :-\

Since it's W3C-compliant, I think, apart from some special features, like the glow-one, it looks the same in any browser. But then again, I'm not really in a position to compare. :-\

Kimmie and her guy (we'll imagine it's Paul, but just in case we won't refer to him as such) are spending a nice, romantic day together. It begins with a ride in a white horse-drawn carriage, pulled by two pure white stallions, to the beach. They eat a nice breakfast at a cute little bed and breakfast on the shore, with a nice view of the ocean as they dine.
They commence to spend the rest of the day on the beach, swimming, building sandcastles, cuddling in the sand ( :X), etc etc, that beachy stuff.
After a nice picnic dinner (they had a cute little picnic lunch too!) ( :X), the sun is setting and they are sitting there, cuddling ( :X) when he pulls a box out from behind her (he probably hid it under the blanket, but really, that's up to him) and slowly opens it....
He slowly opens the box to reveal a gorgeous rock of a ring! And he whispers in her ear something along the lines of "You're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. Will you marry me?" (Gag me, this is gross. :P)
And, of course, after a day like the one they had, how the heck could Kimmie say no? So she gets all excited, and says yes, and kisses him ( :X), and kisses him ( :X), and kisses him some more (really now, give him some air!) They finish watching the sunset. Or rather, he does, with his arm around her, as Kimmie bubbles about how excited she is, and admires the ring on her finger in the fading sunlight.
About an hour after the proposal, they get in the horse drawn carriage again, and head back home. She gets on the phone and the computer at the same time, and starts writing a post, but gets distracted talking to her friends and family on the phone.
The post is finally made on these boards two and a half hours after the proposal is made.

There's also a little wavy gauze thing going down the left side. The shoes are turquoise and they match the flower! ^^

Well Veneers would hav drilled into my teeth and coz they are healthy teeth (altho they are gappy) my dentist said it would be a shame to drill into them. So basically the procedure was very simple...it may not last a long time but it wasnt expensive and its way better than getting another brace at the age of 20. i actually wanna keep hold of my boyfriend instead of drive him away :suffer:

We did denim mini skirts and black tops with black gangsta hats and my long black gloves.
Then prom dresses.
None of the shots were like "stand like this and stationary* they were fun and lots of movement, like jumping and running...yeh there were a few stylised ones with the feather boa and some funny angles...but i go to the review next monday after they are edited to see the slideshow, so i can tell you more about the finished products. think we only get one or 2 free, the rest are quite expensive (depends how good they are and if i wanna spend my loan :suffer:)

It’s a suppressing cool here right now at 85° with a heat index of 89°. It’s normally in the 90’s and I don’t mean the heat index. :sweating:

well the good thing bout our weather system is it can go from hot to cold in a matter of hours lol!
we had a bizarre first couple of months when it snowed in like april or whatever. last week was cool, this week its gonna be really hot. u never can tell from one day/week to the next!
