Post by: Swift on March 31, 2005, 02:50:54 AM
We are VERY pleased to announce that Codename Entertainment, Hero6, Infamous Adventures, Project Katrina, and Solar Crescent Studios have merged to form Silver Sphinx Studios, a team that is dedicated to create the next generation of oldskool adventures. We've had to keep this in the utmost secrecy over the last few months and are very happy to be able to at last share this exciting news with you, the fans of adventure gaming!

Not only have we merged our project teams, we have also merged our projects and have created a game for you to enjoy! YES, we've already created an entire game, ready for download!
Presenting,

Hero of Infamous Kingdoms (http://www.silversphinxstudios.com/)

We apologise if you are unable to view the website.

QuoteSorry, my datacenter seems to be experiencing difficulties (yes, datacenter, not server) so the main site is down.

The techs are working on the issue and the site should be up anytime now. I haven't slept and it's dawn so I'm sleeping now that I know the techs are working on it.

Keep checking the url above too because the site is really pretty! - Brassfire, Website mistress

This seems to be more of a promo game then anything else.  Pretty cool anyway though.  This merger sounds interesting, and seems like a very good idea. GL with everything, and hope to see the original projects to go as scheduled.   :)

Come on, people!!

This was obviously a hoax since post one!!

NEVER EVER BELIEVE ANY OUTRAGEOUS CLAIMS MADE ON (OR SO CLOSE TO) APRIL 1st!! :suffer:

And seriously, this one I'd have hard time believing any day of the year ::)

Oh, and this time I'll save you the "if only game makers spent as much time on their games as they do on silly pranks" speech ;)

I'm looking forward to any more creations you all make together. ;)

*whaps antler guy with herring*

The shortcut doesn't work quite right though.. the voices and save files don't show up unless you play th game from the directory.

lol, I was actually playing along. ;D

Personally, I thought my comment might have sounded a bit too phoney to be believable though. :P

So, Neil, did they ask the KQ9 team to join them in the merger?

Sort of.  They mentioned to Say that they were doing an April Fool's joke, but we said we weren't going to get involved with it.  Well, not that involved anyway. ;-D

Sure, that's what you say NOW :P

But yeah, that comment did come off rather odd, especially from someone as experienced as you. And if not on the phoney side, definately on the "what the heck was he thinking" side ;)

Finally got to d/l and finish the game...
Quite funny, and not too shabby for something thrown together in under a month ;)

It had some weird bugs though - I don't know if recieving evey possible item in the inventory (including AGS's default pink poster and key) when you get the herring is a bug or not, but the game music also refused to play sometimes, and when I changed the settings it would save my games to a different location (which is pretty bad, since the default GUI doesn't let you load from a different directory) :-\

Thanks for the feedback, Storm. Some of the bugs you mentioned are most likely AGS problems, and probably can't be corrected by the team.

Someone asked whether KQ9 was involved in the prank. As Yonkey replied, we did approach them (Say specifically) and asked if they're interested in joining in. The offer was declined, but Say did indicate that she'd like to hear how it progressed. Towards the end of the month, when the spam prank was played out in the Hero6 forums, Jafar very kindly posted a warning about the spammer in the KQ9's Off-topic forum to alert the admin team. I wrote to Say that it was part of the prank and she informed Yonkey.

Just before I posted the prank announcement about the merger, I had PMed Say to let her know that it was the prank. I would have done so sooner had the team not brought the release date forward by a day. So yeah, the KQ9 team knew that was a prank.
