i hope I'll post in the right section and that this topic wasn't posted before, Warlock, because I didn't find it...
Does anyone know if KQ9 will be available in other languages (not for the voices but maybe subtitles...)?
You're right on, this was the correct section :)
And I don't believe I know the answer to your question, but I'm sure somebody out there does! ;D
Anyway, I can translate if it's needed... It would be a great pleasure...

Right now, we're just developing the English version. Once the game is completed, we'll work on doing translations (subtitles) to other languages. :)
OK... TY again Yonkey.. ;) I hope you won't forget french people as AGD interactive who did packs for every languages (even Latin !!??) except french ??? ::)
I won't! :D But, remember that the translations are based on who is willing to translate them. Probably what happened with AGDI, is no one offered to translate the game to French, so there is no French version. :P

I offered...As many persons... But they had too much work to do translation packs... ::)
Ahh I see.
In our game, I definitely did not want to forget about internationalization, so we built it into the design. One of our programmers designed a custom-built DialogueEditor which allows us to take the dialogue from the game's script and turn it into a dialogue file that the engine can use during gameplay.
When we want to do translations, all we have to do is simply copy and paste the translated text into the DialogueEditor, and replace all the English dialogue files with the translated ones. :)
Actually, it would most likely provide the option of switching between English and the other languages as opposed to just overwriting the English dialogue files, but you get the basic idea. :P
I could translate the game in the future if you want... I would be the official KQ9 ambassador in France.. :o ;)
Can I promote the game on the KQ website I'm currently developing?
Cool! 8)
I'll keep that in mind. :)
haven't answered my question, Yonkey ;) Can I talk about the unofficial KQIX project on my website?
Oh, I didn't notice you added that to your post. :P Yes, you can definitely talk about our project on your website. :)
I heard that Vivendi, the company that bought out Sierra, is French. It's cool that we have people from all over the world that like king's quest and Sierra adventure games.
I'd love to get the chance to travel more than I have right now. I've never been to the Northern states of America, I'd like to see New York City, never been there. I'd also like to go to California. The thing I like about Tennessee is that people are so friendly there. In other parts of the south around that area people are generally nice and polite.
I asked about translations some time ago, so I'll add to this topic. If you should need any more German translators, just pm me 8)
;D If you need translation in Danish I can also help you hihi!!! I don't think so...
But actually I think that a lot of Danish people play King's Quest! ;B
QuoteBut actually I think that a lot of Danish people play King's Quest!
Unfortunately not many, but I do :)
Excellent! :)
Wow, this thread is becoming the official game translator thread! XD
I'll translate it into....Parseltongue! I spent my whole 5th grade life with my friends developing it. It's scary, I'm sure most of the sounds are at lest 57 different words, and no one would understand it. But I'd do it anyways!!! Actually, I'd have to dig up the dictionaries...and it only has words a 5th grader would use. But that's not the point. I wanna help!!! :P
Maybe I can help out too :P
As long as you stay away from my Parseltongue :P
I remember several volunteers for a French translation of KQ1VGA back in the day. The first volunteer abandoned his endeavour after his computer crashed. The others received the translation file and eventually dropped off the face of the earth.
KQ1VGA was a small game with easy-to-translate factual background description and only wordplay/puns in the occasional death message and easter eggs, but doing a complete translation still took between three and four weeks, if you spent between 6 and 8 hours a day on it. (which most people didn't) A larger game would take most people between 9 months and a year to translate completely, if one worked on it consistently. The endeavour is like a fan-project in itself and just as many people underestimate the workload when jumping into it.

Hello:
I offer myself to translate the

language when available.
Thanks in anyway,
Franz Rogar

i,m spanish, and also a king´s quest saga fan. :D
i,m not excellen at english, but i´ll try to do my best.
i,ve thought that you can do a webpage in other languages, like spanish, because i understand engish, but noy all words and expresions :-\, and there are other people who like king,s quest, and they don´t know anything of the international language (english).
this would be a good idea, i think. ;D
there are other spanish web pages that are in diferent languages.
what do you think of the idea?
Unfortunately, I don't know spanish so there's no way I would be able to translate this site to it. :-\
If you have problems understanding certain english words and expressions, feel free to ask us and we'll be more than happy to help. :)
welcome :D
feel free to look around and post ;)
--atempts to speak spanish-- XD

well, I also think that this is portuguese
In spanish, the best translation is this:
Bienvenido
siéntete libre para mirar y mandar mensajes
er.... sorry :P
Because the first game is near to be release (hopefully this Winter), I want to list all people that "said" to help to translate subtitles for the game:
(and to remember to Yonkey (see replay #9 in this thread) somes of the list are still alive)
Real Languages:
- FRENCH: prince-de-rien
- GERMAN: Luisa, Deloria
- DANISH: Jeka
- SPANISH: franzrogar
Fiction Languages: ;)
- PARSELTONGUE: Rosella
You forgot to list yourself! ;D
Anyway thanks for the reminder. :)
I could also do german but if Luisa's already doing it...
Hello Deloria,
Any help in translating the game is welcomed. Note that the translations files will be huge, so if they're 2 or more persons working on them, the people will be able to play the game reading the text in their native lang soon.
Another thing: the subtitles haven't been released yet, so no one is working with.
You're welcomed if still want to help this great project to be *almost* perfect ;)
A bit outdated thread but....
If you still want to add localization to the Web, I can translate the web (including all info and legal advices, even incrusted text in images) into Spanish.
Note: I'll never never never translate the forum! ;)
Hahaha translating the forum would be horrible :P
Can you imagine?
QuoteLes portes peuvent être des verrats peuvent être des ronflements peuvent être des planchers peuvent être des hurlements peuvent être des spores peuvent être à vous peuvent être les miennes
lol, first of all... that's French, not Spanish. ;P
And secondly, what part of the forum did you translate that from? ??? XD
A wabbajack rant. XD
Hahaha <3 :P
"The harbors can be verrats can be ronflements can be floors can be screams can be spores can be at you can be mine"?? :P
Okay, it definately wouldn't be that bad. XD
Très bien. Et... autre traduction en française! ;)
(Pardon si j'ais ecrit les mots mal... mais mon française est... bien, je le *parle* bien ;) )
Well, no one said (well, wrote) if POS's going to use l10n into the web... :-X So... who should I ask for? ???
PS: Programmers, 3D team and related that are working for finish the first part, please, don't waste your time with me. All people knows why (I still want to stay alive!).
Ew...errors. :P
I think there should be at least 2 (better3) people 4 every translation
. So that someone can check if everything is all right.
I speak german and polish. And there is PERHAPS my friend who can
make russian translation
Great. You can help Luisa and me
So my dreams became true :P
Someone else to help me with french translation?
Kelsey..? ;)
a prince of nothing, still alive ;D
Well, I could try helping... XD
any news of this translation project..?
???
I seriously doubt they will worry about that until after Shadows is out.
That doesn't stop people from making unofficial translations, of, say... the demo. ;)
i want tsl in spanish i think that is a good idea
all kq games are in spanish...
While no plans are set in stone for foreign language versions of TSL, we will make every effort to work with our fan community to accommodate requests such as these after the first part of the game is released.
If you are not already aware, a member of our fan community has produced a patch for the demo that translates it into Spanish. You can download it from here (http://la-aventura.net/baja/traducciones/TSL_RC1_Patch_v.2.0_es.exe)
