Post by: Drunken Chinchilla on May 15, 2005, 05:16:20 PM
 ;D

I swear, I've had the 6 tracks released today on loop throughout the whole of chamber, such stunning stunning work! I really cant wait to hear how all of these themes will be developed throughout the games.

Bravo!

I don't know when I've enjoyed music this much!

Well...maybe the first time I heard the soundtrack to "Wicked"...but only then! :P

Seriously, though, ya'll have done a wondiddlyunderful job on this music and ya'll should be VERY proud of it.

For those of you out there who don't know what Wicked is, it's a fairly new Broadway musical with an INCREDIBLE score... maybe not the best compositions, but the arrangements and the instrumentation are incredible. Not to mention some fierce singers. Check it out if you get a chance.

And of course, props to the KQ9 musicians. Ya rock.

Well I've listened to the music you released and I like It all.
Alexander's theme is an absolute masterpiece imo !
Well done !
A beautiful melody with a great left hand.

Could it be possible that you released the piano sheet for this song ?? I would greatly like to play it and I don't think I can get all the notes only with my poor ear.

I agree with you!  I actually burned it onto a CD and sat at my piano for a few hours trying to figure it out.  Unfortunately, my piano lives with my parents, and I don't, so I didn't have as much time as I needed to figure it out completely.  I think it would be fantastic if, at some point, they would post the sheet music to some of the songs, (specifically Alexander's theme!)

I agree too!   ;)

It would be so great if you post the sheet music of this fantastic piano song :)

Hmmmm I'll have to see if I can get an answer from Austin but I think it's a nice idea. Music like this should be reproduced everwhere!

I'll get Austin to give you guys an answer on this since he composed the majority of the soundtrack, and he's the only one who can provide the sheet music. :P

A composer providing sheet music is like a programmer providing pseudocode, a writer providing a rough draft, or an artist providing a concept design.  It all depends on the willingness of the creator.  All I can say officially is that we will allow everyone to obtain the soundtrack once the game is ready.  :)

Hi guys! I didn't do the Alexander Theme....it might have been from Nick who has been on KQIX before I was...so I can't provide the sheet music for that one :P. As far as any other piano one's I'm not sure...I haven't ever gotten sheet music done right on the sequencer. Some of the piano versions are free based without a tempo click so getting the sequencer to make sheet music might be harder too or not very accurate for that matter....I might be able to release some sheet music after the game is out but it depends if there is enough demand for some of the piano only pieces and it is possible. Thanks for your support in the music for the game!  :)

Alexander's theme was composed by Michael Fortunato.

I think that's the first time anyone's ever asked for sheet music for something I wrote!  I'm honored :D.

Of course, this was a sketch I put together for Cesar one night.  He asked me to try my hand at composing both Alex's and Rosella's themes.  I wrote them both in one night and he liked them.  I was planning on more fully fleshing them out with chords and more intricate accompianment, but never had the time.  And our previous music man, Scott Morton, had recreated a version of this piece with some really nice piano-work, so I didn't have to ;).  Although, since he's gone, that version is gone.

The version that's on this site is the original sketch I did.  As soon as I find the midi for it, I can clean it up and post it as sheet music.  I'd be more than happy to - that is, if Cesar approves....

So, Cesar, do you approve of me posting sheet music to Alex's theme?

Let me know and somewhere between painting 3D models and recording voice overs I'll get that done.  Perhaps I can get it out before KQ9 Part 1 is out :P.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and interest in Alex's theme.  I am shocked and amazed at the response, considering my meager composing skills.  Thank you thank you thank you :D.

- Michael

I can't agree on this one ! It would be fairly easy for good musician to write down the whole sheet music for Alexander's theme.I could get the right hand part easely and with time, both.

Michael, I'm a bit of a composer myself, and from my (meager) experience I can tell you that it's not the most complex orchestration that makes things good.
I've heard some over orchestrated music with absolutely no soul in it, and it was deadly boring. Some of my favourites piece of music are simple piano songs. In the end all that counts is a good melody which Alexanders has. The orchestration is only there to enhance it (and there are people that can do great orchestrations).
Alexander's theme orchestration (left hand) is just perfect. I' m sure it could be even better with more flesh  but the primary thing is there, a top notch melody.

Have faith in your work, I know what  it's to have doubts, but amazingly there are always people that likes your work.

Now, WHERE IS THAT SHEET MUSIC !!

Of course with time anyone could. :P  A programmer doesn't need pseudocode to duplicate another program.  Nor does an artist require a concept design to replicate a piece of art.  Heck, all I need to do is press print-screen and I get an exact replica! XD

I was just saying that providing sheet music for a song is like providing preliminary work in those positions, and it will only be provided if the original creator is comfortable providing it.  Had Michael said "I'm not showing you the sheet music EVER!  :suffer:" then the only way to get it is to create it yourself (without Michael's permission).

Thanks Aleph -

I'm not changing the melody in any way.  I just wanted to fatten up the piece with some chords.  I also wanted to change a some of the left hand in certain places.  Nothing drastic - I want to add a few grace notes and also make it a little easier to play with two hands.  Sometimes the left kept running over what the right hand was trying to play.  It worked sometimes, but for those times I feel it didn't, I want to fix that.

I'm more than happy to have the sheet music "published".

And I can't wait to see what Austin or Nick do with the piece as they orchestrate it for the game.  They are both phenomenal and they will really make is sound incredible.

I also like "A prophecy of his own" a lot!

It is beautiful!

I think the best in this game is going to be the music.
The only thing I can say is "just amazing"

Could it be possible that you released the piano sheet for this song?

I think the composer is Haynes.
