Title: E3!!
Post by: Drunken Chinchilla on May 19, 2005, 10:29:03 AM
Wow no ones started a thread yet!

I love May, its like the middle xmas for me games wise :D highlights (for me) so far have been wholly nintendo (l)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

This is going to be such an incredible game for so many reasons! Rather than me blathering on about all of them go over to IGN (http://media.cube.ign.com/media/572/572738/vids_1.html) and check out over 30 minutes of gameplay videos with comments from Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma (who is producing this Zelda)

NEXT! 2 New consoles!

GBA Micro

Yes, it is THAT small! Game Boy Micro measures a mere 4 inches wide, 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches deep and weighs just 2.8 pounds.

REVOLUTION!!

There's still ALOT of features unkown about this but one thing which should please every one on this forum is that with nintendo's FREE online service, their entire back catalogue stretching back to the NES willbe available on the revolution for download via wifi! Whether this means the games themselves will be free or not is not known but its an exciting prospect.

One thing which may well interest Phoenix too...

QuoteFreedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game “masterpieces” as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea.

I hadn't seen the design for the console yet, looks really cool actually, opposed to the xbox 360 and playstation 3 :(

Isnt it :D plus, lookie!

Backwwards compatible with the Gamecube :D The one disc slot takes both new revolution games and regular dinky GC discs. Thing is, we're yet to actually learn what the revolution is (as in the control mehtod and other things which im sure are hiding in its sexy little body) and i doubt we will at E3. Here's hoping Nintendo bring back spaceworld this autumn and spill all the beans there!

Even though I'm not a console fan, I have to admit that the Nintendo Rev really looks exciting.. and that's saying a lot coming from me, I'm interested in seeing all the features it will end up having.. the backward compatibility really is a pleaser on my side, much better than what the xbox 360 promises, you may have to actually buy the old games anew with adjusted software to the console, how lame is that?! Hallelujah for Nintendo, boo Microsoft. :)

Like Jesse, I'm not a big fan of consoles, but I'm greatly looking foward to it. :D

Really looking forward to the Revolution, more so than the PS3.

Really wanna learn more about downloading old games. I hope they aren't going to charge for them :-\

Maybe it'll be a one time fee of a buck apiece, I dunno. Not that I'd mind, it's cheaper than ebay. ;)

Hopefully they make it backwards compatible with the SNES and N64 as well! ;D Having them available for download, at least. ;P

Post by: sivvrianBARRY on May 22, 2005, 12:39:41 PM
NES, SNES and N64 games are definitely part of the download service. I've heard from some places that Gamecube games are too, but I'm fairly skeptical about that news.

Regardless you'll be able to play games from every major Nintendo home console because of the backwards compatibility with the Gamecube.

That Revolution looks pretty cool.  I hadn't planned on getting any next gen for awhile, but now I hear about these downloads on the Revolution and MGS 4 designed, produced and directed by Hideo Kojima (!!!!!) for the PS3. *Sigh* decisions, decisions.
Title: Re:E3!!
Post by: sivvrianBARRY on May 22, 2005, 03:04:54 PM
Yeah, and consider that Nintendo hasn't decided whether or not the downloads will be free. Just the fact that they're considering to make them free means that if they do in fact sell them, they'll be at a very low price, or they could just be free, in which case Revolution would be the best system ever.

Ugh this makes it very difficult for me, because I was just about to break my alliegiance to Nintendo and go for a PS3 after being screwed constantly by Nintendo. Even Nintendo can't screw this feature up though, even if the Revolution games themselves play like Virtual Boy 2.

Get both NR and PS3. ;)
Title: Re:E3!!
Post by: sivvrianBARRY on May 22, 2005, 10:05:45 PM
That would normally be a good idea except the inital rumors are that PS3 will cost a king's ransom ($465!!). So I probably could only afford one unless I really start saving up and get a job (don't have one since I'm only 16 and lazy ;))

I'm a Nintendo-only kind of girl, and I can't WAIT!! XD I was spending so much time over the last year drooling over the new Zelda, I barely paid attention to NR, but now I'm totally stoked for both! :D:D:D

I was a Nintendo fan/lover, but had to get a PS2 for the Final Fantasy series :-\

Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll bring FF back to Nintendo XD

Nintendo Revolution and FF (http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=9f2afb64-b75b-48a2-a73b-f4ca8827eeed)

Looks like they're interested in Nintendo, again. ;) Wonder why. :P

And yeah, things like the FF series and Kingdom Hearts and such made me want a PS2, I'll admit it. :P

I think Nintendos online plans for the reovlution and DS are going to be pertty innovative. Latest word is that Animal crossing come out in August for the DS which is the first online title so we should be hearing some pretty detailed plans soon! Lol i should of named this shameless nintendo fanboys/fangirls only please ;p
Title: Re:E3!!
Post by: amarinda on May 26, 2005, 04:59:01 AM
Yeah, I'm a shameless fangirl, too. XD I was actually trying to figure out how to buy Nintendo-themed t-shirts, but can you believe a big, popular entertainment company like Nintendo doesn't have their own store?!?! Not even online! They have a bunch of low-grade retailers who apparently have license to make and sell stuff with their logos and whatnot, but it really is not very professional at all. :( I was so disappointed,

I wasn't expecting Nintendo to release a gameboy because I thought the DS had that area covered :-\

They don't?!  You should propose the idea to them!  You could make a fortune!  Well, assuming you make sure to propose it in writing (i.e. snail mail) and have your lawyer write up a legally binding contract first. 8)

They have 2 stores that I know of. Pokemon Centre in Japan and Nintendo World which has just opened this month in New York. I dont know if you've seen teh Nintendo VIP section of their site but when you register 'stars' (which you get for buying games) on their website you can claim nintendo stuff, sometimes even merchandise. Of course the Japanese have it much better, they get special limited edition controllers and plush toys :(

The DS was never meant as a replacement for the Gameboy advanced. The micro is just another repackaged GBA for fashion concious and budget concious people. Next year we'll see the GBA2/Whatever they call it. THEN they'll stop with the whole re-releasing gameboys malarky hehe.

Title: E3 Hype/Predicitons thread!
Post by: Drunken Chinchilla on April 11, 2006, 07:52:16 AM
Well its that time of year again so i thought a thread was in order.

I can guarentee that Nintendo will absolutely steal the show when they finally reveal everything about the Revolution (Including its actual name!!).

Would be nice to get some news on Pokemon DS and to see what the new Zelda DS is all about. I'm also kind of looking forward to seeing what MS has in store for its japanese customers, they've been buying up some impressive Jap Devs for the past year or so to try and make some kind of dent in Nintendo's and Sonys hold over there. An exclusive Square-Enix game? I reckon so.

So whats everyone else want or expect to happen? Would be cool to see POS there :D

Some day when POS is a commericial company ( which should be after you officially cancel TSL in two months!), you will steal the show with an official ripoff of Halo for the Game and Watch! (Which is the predescesor to the Game boy. Think of it as the "conceptual DS that went horribly wrong!") But seriously, I'm dying for May! When Nintendo spills the beans, should we post it on the main page? (please say yes!)

Honestly, there is only one thing that may(probably won't) be at E3 that I care about.

Bioshock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioShock)(The spiritual successor to System Shock 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Shock_2)... hopefully)

Probably the only game I'm hoping will have some light shed on it at E3 is the next Wolfenstein. I liked Raven's work on Return to Castle Wolfenstein (I haven't played Quake 4 yet), so it would be nice if they were involved. I'm pretty sure I've heard that id isn't making it in-house.

Yeah the next Wolfenstein should be pretty cool, there's gonna be a huge improvement in graphics.

Anyway I'm also looking forward to hearing about the upcoming DS games. :D

I'm hoping for some shock announcement from SEGA now, its been way too many E3's where all the rumours have turned out to be just some crappy card fighting version of an existing franchise. Give us something to get excited about!

I predict that they won't showcase any games worthy of my attention... unless they happen to show more previews for the new Legend of Zelda. ;P

Knowing Nintendo, the company in which I bow in their presence, I have a sneaky suspicion that they will show that off, as well as much more, the likes of which, I will be paying very close attention to. But I will also keep my eyes and ears open to the other companies, too though. If you want E3 updates, go to my site, as it will have as many updates as I can get. I can't do hourly updates or anything, because I won't be there, and I may very well have school to attend. If I could, I would fake sick, hide in the cargo section of a plane, steal Bill Gate's ID, and sneak my way into the Nintendo Booth. But of course, that's never going to happen. I would love to attend E3 though!
