Which KQ game would you most like to see as a movie, and which actors/actresses would you cast for it? :)
Tough question, really . . .
I think it's fair to say KQVI has the most movie-friendly plot/development, but that might also make it kind of boring as a film. Most interesting would be the original, in some ways, because you really can't start anywhere else, but it would take a lot of work to make that into a film.
It would be really interesting to see III or IV fleshed out for film, though . . .
I mean that KQVI would be boring as a film not because it is boring (it's my favorite) but because it's almost a film now, and wouldn't be that different.
I went w/ KQ IV b/c I'm biased ::) but in good spirit, here's a sliver of who I would cast...
Evan Rachel Wood as Rosella
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0939697/ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0939697/)
Sigourney Weaver as Lolotte
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000244/ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000244/)
Robbie Coltrane as "the Ogre"
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001059/ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001059/)
I'll say KQVII because I'm biased too. KQVI was my first thought, but it reminds me too much of Aladdin. Though I guess it would be an interesting spin, I'd rather go with KQVII. I HAVE to get Rosella in it more than just a cameo appearence. :) This poll is odd because when I was little and played the games I really thought of them as movies. You just had to do stuff to make the "movie" progress.
I agree wholeheartedly, Rosella--they are movies (at least the later ones are). I distinctly remember Robin Williams referring to them as "interactive movies" on some video way back when.
And VI does have similarities with Aladdin, I admit, (man, I loved that movie as a kid too), but I think it's got a lot more too it than that too . . .
Found myself laughing though when you thought VI was more of a Disney movie than VII, though (but in a different way, I suppose!).
Y'know, in this age of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, you gotta admit that fleshed out, King's Quest III has the perfect framework for a film . . .
I picked 4, with 7 as the sequel. :P I want a girl hero! ;D Sissy Alexander. Pah.
But I think all of them have great potential. ;)
And what's this all of a sudden having a NORMAL, ON-TOPIC poll?!?! :o
Elaeron, I like your comments, you have good points. ;) KQ3 is a bit cliched in the orphan-finding-out-he's-comthing-more and then going on a quest angle (I ran out of my daily allowance of hyphens :P), but it's awfully popular at the moment...
I say KQ 5 and for the role of King Graham I chose Bruce Campbell I know what your thinging but Bruce would make a Great Graham
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0132257/
:stabs:
While I'd say KQ6 was the best game in the series, plot-wise it wouldn't make a very exciting movie.
KQ5's my choice, and based on all the artwork I've seen from KQIX, I'd cast Harrison Ford (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000148/) as Graham. ;P
(Hmmm, and maybe David Hyde Pierce (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001383/) as Cedric! :P)
King's Quest V, it has the most diversity and the story-line would make it the easiest and best to film.
/me wonders why no one voted for MoE XD
king's quest V
it has the best story of all king's quest's that are out now
mabe if we see king's quest IX it would be different....
If I had to see one of the KQ game plots in a movie, I want the one most fitting for an action flick. None fits better than MoE. Action action action!
Also, which game would I prefer to be ruined by the theater? None fits better than MoE. :P
You all make very good points. I think that V would be a much better movie than VI. But really, you cannot have a IV or V without III, and I guess you cannot really have VI without V.
We need all the post-II ones! (Excepting MoE...)
