Title: Cassima
Post by: Ceres on October 05, 2005, 01:29:42 PM
I was just wondering about the character design for Cassima. Cassima's been my favorite female character in the King's Quest series, and I loved the sort of fresh-faced, innocent look she had in the games. Her design looks very different in KQIX. Maybe it's just me, but she looks almost sinister :-\ like she's one of those soap opera girls out to get what they want and not caring who they hurt (just a generalization, I don't watch soap operas :D).

Anyway, I guess I was wondering what the reason for her design change was, if any.

Please pardon the humble opinions of this newbie!

It's because she's actually pretty upset about something during that scene... 8)

You know, I thought the same thing.  And the fact that her wallpaper says she's Alexander's "downfall" had me concerned, too.

Yeah! That concerned me, too! In fact, all the comments on the significant others (Valinice, Edgar, Cassima) made me worried. It seemed like all the happy relationships were under attack!

I wonder what she's mad at? Any hints? ;D

Casima does look more mature, but I don't think she looks sinister. I like her outfits. I like the way she looks in KQVI, her outfit there has a cool slightly Arabic look too it.

I love Cassima. Have you noticed how many Arabian Nights stuff
shows up in the King's Quest Series? Roberta certainly used it
a lot to spice up the German Fairy Tale based series.

I love the Arabian Nights, read them as a child, but now my sister brought me the "adult" original version, it's quite shocking, very different from the one I read as a child.  :o

I like Cassima's courage under fire. She is a brave, strong and capable young woman, so much more than amere damsel in distress. She saves both Graham and Alexander at the end. I want her to have a more important part in my story. I must work on that. I think that Sharazad of the Arabian Nights is my favorite folk story heroine, she saves a man from himself, and her kingdom as well.

Where do you find the original version anyway I've been looking all over for it. I have the Grimm one already.
