With the disappointment of recent events, I thought it would be helpful to look back at the good old days. There seemed to be a lot of Kings Quest references in other Sierra adventures. Here are some that I remember, feel free to add your own:
Police Quest II - The Vengeance - Some inappropriate actions in the game would lead to a "death screen" showing a newspaper with an article that Detective Bonds has been committed to a psychiatric institution. Also visible is an article about King Graham being close to death (referencing the events of Kings Quest IV - The Perils of Rosella).
Space Quest I - The Sarien Encounter (original) - If you talk to one of the Sarien guards on the Deltaur enough times, he'll ask you if you've played Kings Quest III
Space Quest I - The Sarien Encounter (original) - If you push the button in the escape pod labeled "Don't Touch", the escape pod will crash land into the moat of the castle in Daventry.
Space Quest I - The Sarien Encounter (remake) - Then man who presents you with the award at the end of the game resembles King Graham (at least, I think he does. My sister disagrees).
Quest For Glory I - So You Want To Be A Hero (original) - When entering Erasmus's house, one of the items on the left wall of the room is the "Rosella Stone", which features a picture of Rosella adopting a faux-hieroglyphic pose.
Quest For Glory II - Trial by Fire - There is a Rosella doll in Keapon Laffin's store.
Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking For Love (In Several Wrong Places) - The barber in the airport is none other than Rosella.
I'm sure there are others I've missed.
Cedric makes an appearance in Freddy Pharkas; you can find him near the desert. The first time you see him, he looks lost. Later, the poor guy gets attacked by vultures! :D
I never saw him get attacked by vultures... ;P
Leave the screen and return later.
Also in LSL 2 you have to type LOOK GIRL in the barber shop and Rosella will ask you if you've played KQ4 yet.
Poor Cedric... :'(
What did he ever do to deserve this!? :'(
Wait, don't answer that. :P
I've taken a screenshot of the KQIV reference in PQII, in case some of you haven't seen it. I'll try to give examples from other games in the next few days if you'd like.
That picture of Sonny is freaky. :D Thanks, though - I wanted to see this screenshot!
As for references to King's Quest in other games - let's not forget that Peasant's Quest is chock-full of 'em.
1)Â Peasantry - sounds like Daventry, eh?
2) Like King's Quest 1 and 2, Peasant's Quest takes place in a spherical world. In other words, if you travel in the same direction long enough, you can get back to where you started.
3)Â Rather Dashing looks a lot like Graham in KQ1 and KQ2.
4) The titles are similar. (Yes, I had to point that out.)
Can I have a link for that game?
http://www.homestarrunner.com/disk4of12.html ;D
Note: You can't save your game unless you can use cookies.
Me and my friend played Peasants Quest and beat it. Alot of the puzzles were similar to King's Quest, too. I enjoyed that and am happy that they obvioulsy (sp?) know about it!
I just found another one. The manual for Police Quest I - In Search of the Death Angel (the original, not the remake), mentions the tourist attraction "Daventry Land 'Where Adventure is Just a Keystroke Away'"
That reminds me - in Space Quest 3, one of Fester's postcards has a picture of "Robertaland." :D
I wonder if there are many non-Sierra games (besides Peasant's Quest) with KQ references.
For those who haven't seen it, here's what happens when you press the button in the escape pod marked "Don't Push" in the original Space Quest:
I personally didn't think that was a KQ reference, Moodyblues. Here's a couple of screenshots so everyone can decide for themselves:
This is the guy I was talking about in the remake of Space Quest I. You may call me crazy, but I'm convinced it's meant to be King Graham
Say, here's one I completely forgot about. In Space Quest IV - The Time Rippers, Roger travels through time to past and future Space Quest games. In the second quarter of the game he travels forward to Space Quest X - Latex Babes of Estros where the title characters take him to the mall. In a software store bargain bin, he finds this:

Oh! You're right. Now I'm not even sure why I mentioned it. :D

Oh, that's Graham all right - he doesn't have a red feather, but he's got the cap, the grey hair, everything!
By the way, don't forget that you can always edit your posts instead of making new ones. Thanks for the screenshots, though!
I know you can edit posts, but for the sake of making it easier to match up descriptions and screenshots I prefer to create new ones. Besides, maybe I'll stop being a chamberpot-emptying wizard's slave one of these days
Hee hEe I loved interacting with the chamberpot in KQIII~~~
So awesomeasapossum you like to clean it in mid air.
dropping it on whoever stands below it.
(He look up there! where? splash)
LOL :suffer: :suffer: :suffer: :suffer: :suffer:
Splat more like.
I just found a page full of KQ references in other Sierra games, some mentioned here already, some not:

The game Five Magical Amulet has an easter egg referencing AGDI's KQ2 remake - there's a place where the main character says something like "I haven't seen a talking vegetable since KQ2" ::)

I thought the talking vegetables were in KQ6.
Man, I really need to get some more Sierra games than just King's Quest!
There will be A LOT of KQ references in The Silver Lining!!

It was, but KQ2+ also had one... so she must have played the KQs out of order :P

Is the game "Five Magical Amulet" a fan-game?

Well... it's not a fan-game in the sense that it's a remake/continuation/spin-off of an existing game, but it does seem to be influenced by games like King's Quest and Kyrandia.
You can download the game here (http://offstudio.fabry.cz/index3.html) 8)
Thanks Storm. :D
Here are some fun screens from the end of Leisure Suit Larry 3, where Larry and Patti end up at Sierra:
Hahaha awww. XD
LOL That's cute!
I'm not sure whether to be amused or insulted...
Go Rosella! XD
There are Daventrees in QFG3 and QFG1VGA.
The original QFG1 has the Rosella stone on the coffin(QFG1VGA simply had it tied with a Laura Bow)
