Title: The CTRL+V Thread
Post by: Questing Character on November 06, 2005, 03:25:20 PM
This is a thread I found on another board I visit sometimes.  You just copy whatever is on your clipboard into a post and post it!  You can explain it if you want.  I'll start:

Then there's a Dynasty, and everything goes good, and then things stop going good and then there's a revolution.

Me, proving that I should be a history teacher.  I pasted that about four times and then said "And that's ancient China." :P

Gerald- Go into Club Vampire for a cut scene and agree to take the
letter to Gerald.  Go up to his office on the third floor of Theater
Vancoor for a scene, and then return to Club Vampire.  Then head back
to Theater Vancoor and go to Elwen's office on the fourth floor;
afterwards, head to the nearby gate (Faucon) for another scene between
Gerald and Nocturne.

Gerald
Level 44
1884 HP
Special: Blaze

If you manage somehow to beat Gerald, he will join you.  The most
effective way people seem to beat him is by poisoning him and just
running around until his HP drops to zero,

Nocturne- Put Gerald in your party and talk to him, he is pretty much
always in Club Vampire aside from when he is sleeping.  Use the same
strategy you used against Gerald (poison him).

Nocturne
Level 44
1983 HP
Special: Steal

Elmo- Do the events to get Gerald and then talk to Elmo and he will
fight you.  He can usually be found in Club Vampire.  Simply defeat him
and he will join up with you.

Elmo
360 HP
Level 13

Joaquel- After the events with Gerald and Nocturne go to the void
community basement at 5PM and wait there (by the door that is always
locked) and before 6PM Joaquel will come down.  Talk to him and he will
tell you to guard the door.  Just wait for him to come back (very fast)
and he will join you.

Ben- He is usually found in the back of Shangri La, sleeping.  Kick him
until he wakes up, and then talk to him and listen to his story.

Bligh- Bligh leaves his him in Nuevo Village at 6AM, he will complain a
goblin stole his pipe.  Teleport to Shangri La and use the exit at the
back, you are looking for a goblin with a cone on its head.  Talk to
him twice (Brie) and he will fight you.

Etc. :P

Ways to make friends in Radiata Knights. XD

Ah, interesting idea for a thread.  Let's seeeee (I hope it's not porn. :P  Or maybe I do... :D)

Willin to start again
Willin to give another try
Willin to pretend
But still so dead

Willin to comprehend
Willin to give up on my pride
Willin to forgive
But still so dead

And its starting to take its toll
And its starting to unwind
But the quicker that things unfold
The quicker that they subside
And the writing's on the wall
But the walls have all come down
If you cant see past the truth
I love to let you ...down

Willin to walk again
Willin to step back in the light
Willin to forget
But still so dead

Willin to turn my head
Willin to let my feelings slide
Willin to befriend
But still so dead

And its starting to take its toll
And its starting to unwind
But the quicker that things unfold
The quicker that they subside
And the writing's on the wall
But the walls have all come down
If you cant see past the truth
I love to let you

And its complicated
And its complicated
Everything that i know
(what was up was now down)
And its overrated
And its overrated
Everything that i....know

And i love to let you

And i love to let you

And its starting to take its toll
And its starting to unwind
The quicker that things unfold
The quicker that they subside
And the writing's on the wall
But the walls have all come down
And you can't see past the truth
I love to let you

And im willing to start again
To give it another try
Im willin to start over...again

This is interesting.

Rowling: Two 'Potter' characters will die

LONDON (AP) -- Author J.K. Rowling said two characters will die in the last installment of her boy wizard series, and she hinted Harry Potter might not survive either.

"I have never been tempted to kill him off before the final because I've always planned seven books, and I want to finish on seven books," Rowling said Monday on TV here.

"I can completely understand, however, the mentality of an author who thinks, `Well, I'm gonna kill them off because that means there can be no non-author-written sequels. So it will end with me, and after I'm dead and gone they won't be able to bring back the character'."

Rowling declined to commit herself about Harry, saying she doesn't want to receive hate mail.

"The last book is not finished. But I'm well into it now. I wrote the final chapter in something like 1990, so I've known exactly how the series is going to end," she said.

Some characters might die, but the blockbuster movie franchise lives on. Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that the fifth installment will be released in U.S. theaters, including Imax screens, on July 13, 2007.

In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," directed by David Yates, the teenage Harry continues to battle the evil Lord Voldemort (again played by Ralph Fiennes) and his followers. Daniel Radcliffe is returning as the title character, and Emma Watson and Rupert Grint reprise their roles as Hermione and Ron. Oscar-nominated actress Imelda Staunton plays the malicious, frumpy Professor Dolores Umbridge, who tortures Harry.

In her Monday interview on the "Richard and Judy" show, Rowling said people are sometimes shocked to hear that she wrote the end of book seven before she had a publisher for the first book in the series.

"The final chapter is hidden away, although it's now changed very slightly. One character got a reprieve. But I have to say two die that I didn't intend to die," she said. "A price has to be paid. We are dealing with pure evil here. They don't target extras do they? They go for the main characters. Well, I do."

Rowling is the richest woman in Britain - wealthier than even the queen - with a fortune estimated by Forbes magazine last year at more than $1 billion.

Whatever she writes next, Rowling is sure of one thing: It won't be as successful as Harry Potter.

"I don't think I'm ever going to have anything like Harry again. You just get one like Harry."

I agree with Johann.  We have always maintained that our game was the unofficial ninth.  Whether fans choose to accept it as official is purely their decision.  Even now with VU's expressed legal permission, we are not the official ninth game in the series.

1. Barney is well-described with the following phrase:

    CUTE PURPLE DINOSAUR

2. The old Latin alphabet used the letter 'V' in place of 'U', therefore the above phrase is modified to:

    CVTE PVRPLE DINOSAVR

3. Letters that do not represent Roman numerals are removed:

    CV-- -V--L- DI----V-

4. Add up the Roman numerals of the remaining letters:

    C + V + V + L + D + I + V

    100 + 5 + 5 + 50 + 500 + 1 + 5 = 666, which is the Number of the Beast.

5. Therefore, Barney is considered Satan.

So funny I just had to copy and paste it into other msn conversations. :P

There was a man who sat each day looking out through a narrow vertical opening where a single board had been removed from a tall wooden fence. Each day a wild ass of the desert passed outside the fence and across the narrow opening--first the nose, then the head, the forelegs, the long brown back, the hindlegs, and lastly the tail. One day, the man leaped to his feet with the light of discovery in his eyes and he shouted for all who could hear him: "It is obvious! The nose causes the tail!"

No. It could be taken as sacrilegious and/or preachy to include Jesus in a game; either way it could be offensive, so it's best to avoid the issue altogether. Of course, players could create such a unit with our modding tools, if they wish.

One of the questions from 0 A.D. (http://wildfiregames.com/0ad/) I found to be pretty intriguing. 8)

Your contact is online but appears offline in Windows Live Messenger. To troubleshoot the problem, try these solutions:
Make sure that you and your contact are not on each other’s block lists

   1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
   2. In the left pane, click Privacy.
   3. Under Block list, check that your contact doesn't appear.
   4. Ask your contact to follow steps 1-3.

Make sure that you and your contact have not been deleted from each other's contact lists

   1. Check that your contact appears in the main Messenger window.
   2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
   3. In the left pane, click Privacy.
   4. Under Allow list, check that your contact appears.
   5. Ask your contact to follow steps 1-4.

Delete all your contacts and add them again

Wadsworth: The game's up, Scarlet. There are no more bullets left in that gun.
Miss Scarlet: Oh, come on, you don't think I'm gonna fall for that old trick?
Wadsworth: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the Study; two for the chandelier; two at the Lounge door and one for the singing telegram.
Miss Scarlet: That's not six.
Wadsworth: One plus two plus two plus one.
Miss Scarlet: Uh-uh, there was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus *one* plus one.
Wadsworth: Even if you were right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus *two* plus one plus one.
Miss Scarlet: Okay, fine. One plus two plus one... Shut up! The point is, there is one bullet left in this gun and guess who's gonna get it!

VI. Pliny the Elder was also involved in an early world-changing diplomatic rift. Back in those days, the Chinese fortune cookie was still in its developmental stage, and it was quite often that diners would get the wrong fortune. One time, after Pliny and a dinner companion finished their Egg Foo Yung (Pliny had initially ordered Moo Goo Gai Pan, but changed his mind), they opened their cookies. Pliny's fortune read "Your brother-in-law Antony's mechanical wheat thresher is not as safe as it looks." Pliny did not have a brother-in-law named Antony, so he threw the fortune away and scoffed. Only years later did Pliny's dining companion that day (a fellow who became known as "Cassius the Stumpy" due to an unfortunate accident with a mechanical wheat thresher) realise that what had happened is that he and Pliny each accidentally been served the other's fortune cookie. (The fortune that Cassius read, by the way, was "If Vesuvius is erupting, do not jump in a boat to go see it.") When Cassius went public about this mix-up (shortly after Pliny's unexpected death during a volcanic eruption), Rome cut off all trade with China, and as we all know, the relationship was not to be re-established until Marco Polo made his famous journey some centuries later. The Chinese reaction to this suspension of trade was even more severe, imposing stringent restrictions on the messages that get inserted into fortune cookies so that nowadays they have been so watered down and we don't get the kind of helpful premonitional advice the ancient Romans used to get.

Just being reminded of why I love the insanity at Talossa so much. :D :P

QuoteI've gone for too long living like I'm not alive
So I'm going to start over tonight
Beginning with you and I
When this memory fades
I'm gonna make sure it's replaced
With chances taken
Hope embraced
and have I told you?

I'm not going
cause I've been waiting for a miracle
And I'm not leaving
I won't let you
Let you give up on a miracle
When it might save you

We've learned to run from
Anything uncomfortable
We've tied our pain below and no one ever has to know
That inside we're broken
I tried to patch things up again
To calm my tears and kill these fears
But have I told you, have I?

I'm not going
Cause I've been waiting for a miracle
And I'm not leaving
I won't let you
Let you give up on a miracle
When it might save you

It's not faith if, if you use your eyes
Oh why
We'll get it right this time (this time)
Let's leave this all behind
Oh why
We'll get it right this time
It's not faith if you're using your eyes
Oh why

I've gone for too long living like I'm not alive
So I'm going to start over tonight
Beginning with you and I

I don't want to run from anything uncomfortable
I just want, no
I just need this pain to end right here

I'm not going
Cause I've been waiting for a miracle
And I'm not leaving
I won't let you
Let you give up on a miracle
Cause it might save you

Yeah, it might save you
Oh, it might save you

It's not faith if, if you use your eyes
If you use your eyes
If you use your eyes

Yikes, that's a lot. :P Song lyrics by Paramore. XD

Hounded out by
everyone!
Met with hatred
everywhere!
No kind word from
anyone!
No compassion
anywhere!

Lyrics from part of Phantom of the Opera. I always have the last part in my head (No compassion anywhere) and wanted to know the lyrics leading up.
*always has those lines stuck in her head too* :P Curse of liking the movie far too much. :P

It's very catchy. I've had songs from Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera in my head for the past two weeks and I loves it! XD

There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong

I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted

But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
And they turn your dream to shame

He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came

And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed

More lyrics from musicals. XD This one's from Les Miserables.

That question was in the FAQ's and they explained how they stabilized that old problem.

Even cooler was that if you were only traveling about 50 miles then you would be using only battery and actually be getting about 1000mpg as the engine rarely had to kick in.

goals for your research, ~we can probably lift this directly from the abstract

how you approached the goals and the research problem, ~size of particles, software used, particle tracking

any changes in your goals (& why), ~not using the PSD, not doing as many sizes as projected (200nm, 500nm, 1u, 2u, 4.5u etc)

a description of what you completed during the semester, ~experiments, # of tracks, etc.

and any results, findings, or conclusions. ~discussion of data and interpretation (some graphs maybe)

I.   Goals
A.   to produce original data for the velocity distribution by which to check data collected on a different project using different techniques
B.   to gauge the variance in velocity as a function of the number of molecular motors present
C.   to try to analyze the motion of single molecular motors as they move particles throughout the cell
D.   goal changes: for now, we are producing data using techniques from the other project to produce comparable data before moving to work with the PSD and optical tweezers
II.   Experimental Techniques
A.   Mastering seeding cells
B.   Preparing coated slides
C.   Mastering use of the particle tracking and velocity GUIs
D.   Use of particles 2.9u and 2u
III.   Accomplishments
A.   Produced several tracks *don't recall the exact number, will put in actual report*
B.   Ran experiments independently
IV.   Data
A.   Typical graph with discussion
B.   Interpretation of data –need to meet with Jennifer next week for this.

I have no idea what I'll have...

If the state goes with OYGRAD 2009 to calculate the May 2008 AYP?

or will the state go with the OYGRAD 2009 to calculate the May 2009 AYP?

Both.  This has been confirmed here from MSDE.  The 2009 cohort will determine AYP for the next two years.  After that it will be the expected seniors each year.

A quick comment....I am confused on this one....if the 2009 cohort counts for the 2008 AYP, shouldn't the 2010 cohort count for the 2009 AYP...meaning the incoming seniors each year are counted for AYP.

Basically this was something that I copied from an email to pass on to one of the administrators at my school.  It is an answer to a question with regards to No Child Left Behind accountability standards.  We were/are trying to understand a change in Maryland's rules for showing that a school is making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).  This is a huge part of my job because I oversee the Algebra instruction in my school and algebra is half of what the school is judged on.

I think you've misdiagnosed the problem... if they were deaf, it seems unlikely that they would be listening to music at any volume. ::)

Is the commutator of the del operator and the partial derivative of time equal to zero? Does the del operator commute with the time derivative? Does the spatial derivative commute with the temporal one? (These are all essentially the same question.)

My post in the question thread wouldn't post so I had to copy it and then post it...

D'oh yeah they weren't deaf they are hard of hearing.  It's really weird there was one time where it clearly sounded like hard of hearing people talking but there was reverberation like it was coming from a TV.  I think they were watching their home movies or something.  But they are driving me crazy they party pretty much every night until 3AM even when it is finals week.  I don't know what major they are where they can party all the time but I think I need to switch to it.

The BAD: dead cells
The BAD: "someone" *cough* ::) Vamsi ::) *cough* left stuff in the hood so I can't get in there to terminate my cells... ειμί κυτοκτονος... αει...

The GOOD: free time...
The BAD: free time while stuck on campus... is relatively uninspiring...

The GOOD: this means I can start a new cell line... possibly REF 52 WT instead of REF-YFP (granted I keep the YFP running so long that they probably lose their modification... which I guess makes them go back to WT)
The GOOD: new cell line for my new experiments... granted the experiments are only new in the sense that they're current; they're the same experiments that I've been doing all semester...
The BAD: this means no experiments tomorrow... *sigh*
The MEH: this means warming up cells today

I was just about to post this earlier and then the forum died... but then it occurred to me: THAT'S WHAT CTRL+V IS FOR! :D

O: You're from Crimea, right? Come on--we're here to rescue you. We've opened your cell. Now's the time to escape.
K: Ah! It's you!
O: Pardon?
K: I could never forget that squint! Knights of Crimea, twelfth regiment...your name is Oscar!
O: And you're...Wait a moment...You're Kieran, right?
K: That is correct! I am Kieran...the same Kieran who has sworn himself to be your eternal rival!
O: Uh...Right...Kieran...So...how've you been? You look good.
K: As always, your manner is listless and inappropriate. It befits one who would call me foe! You were discharged three years ago...What are you doing here now? Aha! Could it be...You dastard! You've turned your coat and gone over to Daein, haven't you? Rarrrrr! What despicable, contemptible behavior! Unforgivable! Have you no shame? You were my one true rival! Where has your pride gone?
O: The mercenary company I'm attached to serves under the command of the princess of Crimea! We came here to free any Crimean prisoners.
K: The princess of Crimea?!? You're not part of the royal guard! How do you know about the princess?
O: Well, like I said, the princess is our employer and--
K: Aha! So that's your scheme, is it? You hope to distinguish yourself by meritorious service and gain the glory that is rightfully mine! Admit it!
O: Look, my duty is...
K: Blast you! Curse your name! Curse the name of Oscar and all who call him kin! I will never let you surpass me! Princess! I'm coming! Kieran will be forever at your side!
O: Whoa...he's even more excitable than I remember. Hard to believe he's actually a decent knight.

Ya I think that's why PKC didn't want to be called PK when he first got here. But he got over it. :P Now just about everyone says PK.
I think it was the other way around... PK wanted to be called PK, and a couple other forumers didn't want to call him PK because of the Player Killer thing. :P

Yeah I believe most people mean "player killer"....Of note, there's "tags" (logos in graffiti usually used by street gangs) all over New Jersey that say "PK"...I pretend they're mine

Just cp'd that to someone who also wondered what the PK's were :P

Also, I love the idea of GridBagLayout, but not its specifics. The super-genius in my class actually wrote a GridBagLayoutFrame that works absolutely wonderfully. [spoiler]I dreamed I was missing
You were so scared
But no one would listen
Cause no one else cared

After my dreaming
I woke with this fear
What am I leaving
When I'm done here

So if you're asking me
I want you to know

[Chorus]
When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I've done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed

And don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory

Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
[End Chorus]

Don't be afraid
I've taken my beating
I've shared what I made

I'm strong on the surface
Not all the way through
I've never been perfect
But neither have you

So if you're asking me
I want you to know

[Chorus]
When my time comes
Forget the wrong that ive done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed

Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory

Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest
[End Chorus]

Forgetting
All the hurt inside
You've learned to hide so well

Pretending
Someone else can come and save me from myself
I can't be who you are

[Chorus]
When my time comes
Forget the wrong that ive done
Help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed

Don't resent me
And when you're feeling empty
Keep me in your memory

Leave out all the rest
Leave out all the rest

what if the story never ends!!!
« on: October 26, 2008, 08:48:44 am »    Reply with quote
An idea just clicked my mind , so i thought i should share with you all, is it possible to combine all the three remakes i.e, KQ1, KQ2, and KQ3 together, like when the first game finishes the story continues instead of loading the second or third sequel the player just plays as the story proceeds (it will b like a movie), and when after KQ4 remake completed can add that one too since all the games are build using ags , is it possible ?
i know it will surely need the cooperation of IA and AGDI teams as well.......
what do you guys think?

It's a good idea, and I'm sure some, if not all, of the other companies would cooperate, but it's just not plausible. It's unnecessary work for the team.

Good Idea though!

EDIT: And it would be a VERY large file.

I actually don't think that's possible unless you have a specially made version of AGS, I'd imagine you could hit at least one of the limits, or maybe a bunch of them, depending on how big the games actually are.

Originally I thought about doing one of the trilogy games I had planned as one game, but just splitting it into chapters.  Honestly, there's not much point to that though, but it does seem cool at first.

Wouldn't be possible. Unless major scrutiny was give to re-scripting every game. Variables would be mixed up between games. It's too delicate a situation. It would take more time than it's worth and the result would just be......all 4 games in one file....

I can live with 4 separate games. What if I don't want to play the others but want to have the satisfaction of "beating" each game? You wouldn't really have that in a combined colossal series-in-one game.

In elementary school, we used to have to cover our school books with ripped up paper bags, presumably because our teachers were under the misconception that paper bags would protect books from the rigors elementary school students put them through. It was a big waste of time. Paper bags are useful for storing things and carrying things around. School books are useful for learning worthless information nobody will ever use outside of school. I think it would be better to protect paper bags with ripped up school books.

One of the "I Think"s on Rinkworks. It's a GREAT website with very humourous articles and some text adventure games! :D

Errors found while checking this document as HTML5!
Result:    109 Errors, 2 warning(s)

I checked the validity of the TSL homepage using HTML5 standards. XD

On the bright side, using HTML4 transitional, you only got one real error, that being that the doctype wasn't declared. :P

Seriously though...a LOT of things are getting deprecated with HTML5. It kept giving the same few errors, mostly about using the align tag and cellpadding/cellspacing, along with a name attribute on images. I'm going to stop my rant, but I say, as someone who is going for a CIW certification, I'm scared. :P

Oh, I guess with HTML5 all those things need to be handled by CSS now instead.  I'll probably look into fixing that once people start reporting it looking odd in their browsers.

You can make a degree symbol by holding down the ALT key while typing 248 on the numeric keypad. Unfortunately, IE treats ALT+4 like the Back button - so I have to do it somewhere else and copy and paste.  :-\

It also works if you type ALT-0176 (using the numpad). I've got no clue why there's two codes for it, though. Another one I like to use is ALT-0215, which is for multiplication: ×

Apparently, the degree symbol is B0 in Unicode. That's 176 (=0176) in decimal.

I've got nothing... I THOUGHT I had the url for this song I'm listening to (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgidfxhVAFU) *note to self: remember to actually copy something tomorrow before coming to the CTRL+V thread...*

OO wait...

Does it count if I copy it now?

even if it doesn't, I just felt like sharing an awesome Gaelic site: written in English, about Gaelic, and comparing Gaelic to German... :D

I've given up on giving up slowly, I'm blending in so
You won't even know me apart from this whole world that shares my fate
This one last bullet you mention is my one last shot at redemption
because I know to live you must give your life away
And I've been housing all this doubt and insecurity and
I've been locked inside that house all the while You hold the key
And I've been dying to get out and that might be the death of me
And even though, there's no way in knowing where to go, promise I'm going because
I gotta get outta here
I'm stuck inside this rut that I fell into by mistake
I gotta get outta here
And I'm begging You, I'm begging You, I'm begging You to be my escape.

I'm giving up on doing this alone now
Cause I've failed and I'm ready to be shown how
He's told me the way and I'm trying to get there
And this life sentence that I'm serving
I admit that I'm every bit deserving
But the beauty of grace is that it makes life not fair

Cause I've been housing all this doubt and insecurity and
I've been locked inside that house all the while You hold the key
And I've been dying to get out and that might be the death of me
And even though, there's no way in knowing where to go, promise I'm going because
I gotta get outta here
Cause I'm afraid that this complacency is something I can't shake
I gotta get outta here
And I'm begging You, I'm begging You, I'm begging You to be my escape.

I am a hostage to my own humanity
Self detained and forced to live in this mess I've made
And all I'm asking is for You to do what You can with me
But I can't ask You to give what You already gave

Cause I've been housing all this doubt and insecurity and
I've been locked inside that house all the while you hold the key
And I've been dying to get out and that might be the death of me
And even though, there's no way in knowing where to go, promise I'm going because
I've gotta get outta here
I'm stuck inside this rut that I fell into by mistake
I've gotta get outta here
And I'm begging You, I'm begging You, I'm begging
You to be my escape.

I fought You for so long
I should have let You in
Oh how we regret those things we do
And all I was trying to do was save my own skin
But so were You

I always carry relient k lyrics with me! ;D
