Title: The great deaths of KQ
Post by: Moodyblues on November 16, 2004, 11:17:23 PM
*lol*

My personal favorite:
"DYING for a drink, Gra-yam?"  --KQ 5

I loved the death messages from KQ VI.
The one that always sticks in my mind is:
Three spikes and your out. LOL

Ya, I love the funny death messages in KQV and KQVI. I hope the death messages in this game are funny, I rather like puns. Sometimes after playing the games for several times, I like to see if I can find new and interesting ways to die.

Personally i always liked throwing Graham off the cliffs near mordacks castle, just to hear the messages, lol

I always thought the KQ5 narrator sounded strangely like Sean Connery. But that's just me.

I always loved the KQ6 comments. Cheesy puns always warrant a big laugh for me ;) But KQ2VGA's "Down for the Count?" was the absolute best.

I think the deaths should look more like KQ2+ or KQ VI.  They have the best deaths. ;D

Just as long as there aren't any more "getting touched by the Lord of the Dead" scenes - just thinking of Alexander's skeletonized face gives me the willies.

I never died that way.

Ugh. I did.. >.>

I blame Jafar for making me wonder what it looked like. :P

Hey, I TOLD you it was uber scary and that you'd be better off not seeing it. You didn't even do it in the daylight hours when it's easier to forget creepy things. :P

Could you describe the death to me or show me an image?  ??? Because not me nor my brother ever died that way.  We looked at a hint file to get through the game because my brother was having trouble when he was continually getting burned by the Druids  :( (there's also another freaky death in the dark room in the catacombs when you don't light the tinder box in time  ).

Post by: Jafar on April 17, 2006, 08:58:26 AM
Getting killed in the dark room wasn't that bad. Alexander's googly-eyes were funny, and it didn't have a non-standard death scene. (Where he doesn't get a ticket and go through the skill gate :P )

I like drinking from the River Styx. XD
*forgets what the death message was for that but it had a fun rhyme to it*

"Hey, hey, what a fix!
Bathin' in the River Styx!"

:D

That Lord of the Dead death scared me away from the game for days. :P
I also felt sad when Alex got locked up...poor guy looked so helpless with his face behind bars. I never saw the beast death, but since it's similar in style to those two, I'm avoiding it. :P
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ
Post by: Oldbushie on April 17, 2006, 07:53:25 PM
You mean where he becomes a beast? I didn't think that was a death per se...
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ
Post by: Jafar on April 17, 2006, 08:04:56 PM
Well, out of the 3 non-standard deaths, he only actually dies in one. Still, they end the game, so I call them deaths anyway. :P

The remake of KQI. When Graham was killed in the garden of of the witch with the gingerbread house. It was along the lines of "RIP Sir Graham Cracker."

;D
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ

Narrator: It's the Yeti! Run Graham!
Graham: *runs*
Yeti: *kills him anyway*
Narrator: What an abominable situation!

That thing moves alot faster on the second screen! XD

I love just falling off the cliff in KQV...

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh..."

"That last step was a doozy, Graham!"

Ugh, just hearing you guys talk about this stuff makes my skin crawl. KQ was a nightmare to me (quite literally so) when I was younger. Used to have countless nightmares about the death scenes in it and other Sierra games, especially KQ5 (Mordack in particular) scared the bejeezus out of me.

The cave troll in KQ4 was the worst, IMO. :P

I had a nightmare about being chased by the murderer in Laura Bow 2! It was SOOOO scary. :S

I don't think I ever had nightmares about KQ when I was little.

I had one where the death music from Quest for Glory 2 was playing. Nothing actually HAPPENED, but it still scared me. :P

Oh MANS.  I can totally remember having this ultra surreal KQ dream once, after I'd played KQ7.  It was really weird to think that a game had gotten me so much I was DREAMING about it!
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ
Post by: Oldbushie on May 03, 2006, 02:03:21 AM
I hate when that happens with repetitive games. :P
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ
Post by: Rosella on May 03, 2006, 01:29:50 PM
Oh! I had a dream about KQ7! This was before I actually got past the 1st chapter. All I knew about the future of the game was the pictures on the back of the cd case. XD

I was Valanice, but I found a way to get to a screen behind the kangaroo rat's house, and it got all dark and spooky. I walked one more screen forward and the Boogieman jumped up and ate me. XD

I remember that death scream being so loud, that I'd mute the computer during the entire mountain sequence.  :stabs: How can an old guy like Graham SCREAM LIKE THAT?

Well, since the topic of creepy deaths came up, I thought I would add my own tribute to the creepy deaths of KQ as the resident Rosella killer  ::)  :  "To wander forever is now your fate..."

One death message I've always loved is in KQ1VGA - when Graham stays underwater in the well for too long and drowns:

"Well well well! Water you going to do now?"

The SQ4 ones are also pretty good.

Not many Sierra games had lousy death scenes, actually. :P
Nothing really stood out in the KQ1 original, but thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

Betrayal at Krondor and The Black Cauldron both only had one :P
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ

Never played those. What were the deaths?
Title: Re: The great deaths of KQ
Post by: Deloria on May 26, 2006, 01:17:51 AM
In The Black Cauldron you could only drown or fall down: "As you slowly lose consciousness, your last thoughts are of your beautiful home, Caer Dalben" or something like that.  :P
In Betrayal At Krondor there was a really long one. Something like: As you slump to the ground you hear someone come up next to you, maybe a friend, maybe an enemy." Then the leader in the team says "Lims Kragma curse you."

I thought there was that pink water in which you could drown in SQ1.
