I'm hoping that this thread here will work! This thread should be used to talk about anything anime! (Conventions included!)
And to start it off, I'm going to Anime Boston! If anyone else is, say it now!
I've been to about 3 or 4 anime conventions, those are fun... they're starting to get too crowded tho. :P
Last year was my first time at a convention... I went to Anime Boston for the first time with my friend, and loved it, so I'm going again, but loaded with more cash than before! (I bought a bunch of manga, but didn't have enough for a Zelda CD that mesmerized me! I just can't help the sensation to buy! It's so addictive!)
I like the Anime style of art, but not the shows, mangas or anything. The tv shows always are very linear, so if you miss an episode, you miss everything. :P
But some are completely nonsensical like Azumanga Daioh, you really don't need to know much to understand what's going on. ;)
English please! XD
Hey, it has subtitles. ;)
Subtitles are so annoying! (My mom hates them!)
I find subtitles fun when you mess with languages. :P
People in movie: Aye, the code
Subtitles: Ah, oui, le code. XD
I need subtitles because I'm half-deaf. ;P Otherwise I'd have no idea what's going on in the movie.
"He ate a pie for his father's woodworking class? What?"
Ah. That makes sense!
I use subtitles all the time since I can't hear properly, so they're not a bother to me. *pokes Bushie* HEY BUSHIE, my partner in crime!
I love Sailormoon. Still. Lol.
I loved Sailormoon before I missed a couple episodes. :P If someone got a first season DVD or something, I'd love to watch it with him/her. XD

XD
Maybe if we put our heads together we'll hear twice as well. ;)
Rosella, I have all the episodes in Japanese. Come watch with meeeeee!
Bushie can come along too. That way we'll have the hearing skillz of a whole person instead of two halves! :D
Do they have subtitles? XD
SAILOR MOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually still kinda like it! I used to watch it all the time! I don't watch it anymore, as it is off the air, but I used to love that show so much!
I like Anime... but not enough of the good stuff gets sent over here(into the mainstream, at least). ;P

*is still pondering that*

I'm extremely good at picking up on melodies and such, it's details that are hard. XD Like, trying to figure out plate vs wait, stuff like that.
Sure... That's what everyone says... XD
Booyah! Ah yes Anime a favorite pastime of many a American youth.{Older youth too ;)} I love sailor moon but I've only seen a about ten of the episodes and I own like 12 of the manga collection books.
Recently I've been really into Ghost In The Shell S.A.C.2nd Gig. I watch it every Friday on Cartoon Network. Some of my favorites are
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Escaflowne, Lupin The 3rd, Ranma 1/2, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Gundam Wing, Full metal Alchemist, Tenchi Muyo, etc. I also love all the Studio Gibli Films. So you could say I'm kinda into Anime. :P
But have you seen Jungle Wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu? ;)
Next time, on DRAGON BALL Z!
Sorry, I had to. XD
Ah....Anime....my guilty pleasure. XD
I love it! All but the occasional "kiddie" stuff that gets put on Saturday mornings and after-school cartoons. I miss the good ol' days when people didn't play down to kids so much ie pre-Pokemon era. (though I watched a bit of it as well) When they showed things like Battle of the Planets and Thundercats.
Gee I guess I'm kinda aging myself here... :P
Anyway I'll watch just about any series for at least a few episodes, especially if it has Crispin Freeman voicing in it. (The man rocks my socks)
And I'm a sucker for a good Manga.
Some of my current anime faves are:
Witch Hunter Robin
Cowboy Bebop (all should bow down to it's greatness)
The Slayers
Trigun
Scrapped Princess
Lupin the 3rd
NightWalker
Vampire Hunter D
Vampire Princess Miyu
Advent Children !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
and at least half a dozen others I'll feel stupid for forgetting later :P
Yep I'm a geek. ;)
Of course they do! They're in Japanese! :P

Sorry, I had to. XD
That was the most annoying thing! XD
I don't watch too much anime, but I wish they could return their shows to their original uncensored state! I admit, that I am obssessed with both Digimon and Cardcaptor Sakura... And I love Tsubasa... The manga is the only thing they made of it over here! I do hope that they bring the series over here too! I also like Beyblade, Legendz, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, Ronin Warriors (My favorite! <3),Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball/Z/GT, and a few more... I'm not as big into anime as I should be, but I do intend to change that over time!
But here's a really scary story... I was at Anime Boston last year, and I went into a stall called Japanese Bookstore, and everything there was in japanese. But as I was leaving, the owner put his hand on my shoulder. It was extremely weird! XD

As you SHOULD be? There's a minimum? XD
Oh, I LOVED Cardcaptors. I can't exactly remeber what it was about, but I remember loving it. :P I could never remember when it was, and I'd get hooked on the plot and never get the resolution. :-\ I also really liked Pokemon! :P
Cardcaptors, or Cardcaptor Sakura, was about a girl, Sakura, who accidentally unelashes the Clow cards upon the world. It is now her duty as the Cardcaptor to reclaim them all, or great terror shall befall the earth... They have two Cardcaptors in our reality, then one in an alternate reality, the one I mentioned in a previous post, called Tsuabasa... The two in our world are simply called Cardcaptor Sakura, and Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow. Master of the Clow has a very romantic ending in the manga! I also have the two movies!

Well, most people I know that like Anime watch a lot more than I do! XD
Well I can't stand any of the Gundam series, but my favourites are:
Cowboy Bebop
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Fullmetal Alchemist
Samurai Champloo
Trigun
Excel Saga
Akira
Vampire Hunter D
GitS
Anyway I've probably forgotten a few so I'll add them if I remember.
I was never a big fan of the Gundam series either.
My all-time favorite anime would probably be Cowboy Bebop! ;D
Some of my other favs are:
-The Slayers
-Witch Hunter Robin
-Record of Lodoss War
-Akira
-Vampire Hunter D
-Vampire Princess Miyu
-Night Walker
-Lupin The 3rd
-Spirited Away
-Howl's Moving Castle
-FFVII Advent Children
...And I've just recently started Scrapped Princess. I suppose it's evident from my list that Zelly and I share almost identical tastes in anime, LOL.
My list isn't too big... And most of what I like is manga, or Japanese exclusive, or both... (Usually both!) Or rather, I have the manga, but the show is only in Japanese, so far...
I don't get what was so great about Advent Children. It was like...bleh. The only part I liked was the cell phone thing near the beginning. That was just plain awesome. XD
I've never seen advent children...
I like Bleach. I wish I could watch it more often!

Yep, of course it helps that we usually watch all our anime together. ;)
:!Oops: I can't believe I forgot Miyazaki :stars: I must really be having a stupid moment LOL
Anyway, if it's on Farq's list and not on mine it's probably just me being forgetful again....

:o How can you say that?!?!?!?!?! AC rocked!!! Though they could have probably done a lot more with it. But to each her own I guess. Maybe if I wasn't such a big FFVII geek I would feel differently about it.
Like, the plot was blah, and...meh. Maybe if I actually played FF7 I'd like it more. XD
Try watching it with Raf, he's never played FF7 either IIRC. :P
I have the DVD and if you haven't played the game you can watch the Reminiscence of FF7 feature to catch up. I had to just because I never played it all the way through. Back when it came out I didn't own a playstation so all the info i had came from watching my friends play it. I do own a the game now though. I'm about half way through it but I'm not sure if I want to finish it now because they're remaking it on PS3. I always hated the long load times it was like playing Commadore 64 all over again.
But anyway I had to watch the movie a few times to catch all the stuff. It also helps to watch the making of if you still don't get it.
Somewhere online I read an article that said that the other charactor's pop out of nowhere. It's simply not true. They all see the big light show that the Dragon is putting on and come to cloud's aid in Cid's airship. And as for Vincent I guess he just sensed the fight seeing how he's connected to the planet. That's why he says I've got to get a phone. If you have any further questions about parts you don't understand just ask me.

I still think the entire movie was a giant plot hole, but the graphics were pretty. :P As for the Reminiscence thing, I tried to watch it, but it was all boring and blah, so I just watched the movie. XD
What was the plot hole. And why watch it if you never saw FF7 and dislike tv? I guess you just watched it for the CGI. I don't think it's really meant for people that haven't played the game anyway. I think if I saw it first I would be confused as well. As for the catch up being boring your right. The only real way to experience it is to play the game first. That's why I'm glad their remaking the game for PS3.
Unfortunately PS3 will cost a fortune.
QuoteI still think the entire movie was a giant plot hole
Actually, that sums up FF7 quite nicely too. XD
I still say that anyone who fully understands the plot is a madman. ;P

Okay, Bleach:
http://www.bleachportal.net
DOWNLOAD AND WATCH THEM!!!! :lovegoggles:
*thinks of last anime cartoon, I watched*
OK, i'm pretty sure it was in november when they cancelled the series of W.I.T.C.H. :P meh theres a first for everything
They made a Demo Scene from FF7 for PS3 but On Square-Enix's Website they said they were not doing a Remake :'(. I hope they do a FFX & FFX-2 Movie that's I.M.O the BEST Final Fantasy for a Mainstream Movie.
I suggest Sexy Commando Gaiden. Sugoiyo Masaru-san. Its just about the funniest thing I've ever seen. All the episodes from 1- 48 are on youtube. Just do a search for sexy commando (insert number). Hilarity ensues.
There are 48 episodes now? :o
I've watched up to the baseball episode I think...
I'm going to an Anime and Videogame convention in July, they always show heaps of anime. So after that I should come back loving heaps more anime.

Yep. The baseball episode is where I'm at now.
I suggest unto all The King Of Braves GaoGaiGar!
It was available for torrents, but it got licensed recently. Its hitting American shores in August. Show him your courage! Give him a brave showing in August.
W.I.T.C.H. Wasn't cancelled. It's airing it's second season on Toon Disney and ABC Family as we speak on my end of the world (USA...). I don't watch it much though anymore. I miss the original theme they had. It was so much better than the one they have now!
Forgive my double post, but I discovered on Youtube that someone put on the american episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura, Cardcaptors. They also have the japanese episodes subbed. Personally, I would love to see a new Cardcaptor Sakura series. Speaking of which, one has formulated in my mind in the past few days... I enjoy TV, especially the 90's, and have many ideas to bring the good shows back... I even have an orginal idea for a TV show. It would be the first of it's kind! I'm proud of it too... But enough of that. I also like reading Tsubasa. It's an alternate universe of Cardcaptor Sakura, and it is really cool. The anime so far is only in Japanese I believe, but the manga is in english, and the show may get dubbed in the future. I also quite enjoy Digimon and am dying to see the Dub of Digimon Savers. (I know that one is coming. I also know the projected time it is supposed to hit. But I have sworn to keep that information secret for now.) I want to go to Anime Boston this year, but I'll be in london for April Vacation :'(... Darn family vacations!
