I am making so many thread's lately! This thread is for us all to discuss shows from back in the day... I would like to please refrain from current TV, unless it has a tie to back in the day. (Family Guy counts, as it was made in the 90's, if at the end, so therefore, it can be discussed here! If something was made in the 70's, that's also fine! Basically anything that does not tie to current day TV is perfect for the thread!) Now let's just hope Yonkey doesn't shut this thing down! XD
I would first like to start with a personal favorite of mine: Ronin Warriors! I know this already has a thread, this thread fits that show, and many more! (Hopefully!)
DINOSAURS! :D
Blockbuster recently got the DVDs of it...
"Not the mama!"
Oh yes! I remember that show! My usual online name is TV Geek, because that's what I am!
I have a whole list of TV shows I used to watch, do watch, or watch from time to time, or have heard of. I will post it when I have it! (It's huge!)
:D
I wish I could watch Mork+Mindy though... that'll be tough to track down.
Didn't that have Robin Williams?
I've never seen it... Although I have heard of it...

Yeah. :) I so wanna see him when he was younger.
When I was younger I'd love to watch The Disney Afternoon Shows. Ducktales was one of the first TV shows I ever watched. Back then we didn't have a TV in our apartment and wouldn't get one for some time. I think we finally got one when I was about 11. I was raised on reading books so to see any shows I had to visit my friend down the street. This was a blessing in that I learned to love all types of media instead of just TV and videogames. Nowadays I read lots of books and watch cable TV, Play Videogames, Use a Computer, Listen to Radio, and read Comics. So I remember fondly the few hours I got to spend watching TV back then but I don't regret have missed some shows.(Pewee Hermon XP) And over all I have a more creative view on life which allows me to be very comprehensive and creative. :)
I love Gummi Bears, Ducktales, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, Tale Spin. *sigh* the good ol' days. I remember coming home from school to watch two hours of the Disney Afternoon before I started on my homework. :) *is nostalgic*
I still think Darkwing Duck, Muppet Babies, and Mega Man are the best cartoons EVER. XD
This (http://www.retrojunk.com) is the best site for retro TV!
I have inlcuded a current list of TV shows I have heard of/ watch/used to watch... It's huge, and still growing as I remember the shows...

Man, I miss that show. XD
There used to be so many toons I would watch....
I used to watch all of the Disney Afternoon shows faithfully.
Then there were all the Nick toons I lived for, like the original Doug and Rocko's Modern Life.
There were countless others too....Muppet Babies, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Batman The Animated Series (back when it was done in the style of the Tim Burton films), Garfield & Friends....
Cartoons on TV were better back then.
They really were!

Was that the one that used to be on Fox Family, now known as ABC family? I really miss that show! I don't like the new mega-man. Megaman NT Warrior is so stupid!
Yup, thats the one, though I watched it back when it first aired on plain ol' Fox. That show RULED! I used tp pretend that I was Megaman, stealing powers, zapping evil robots, and foiling Dr. Wily's plans. Ah...good times...

For once we agree on something! YAY! ;D
That show was THE BOMB! I used to get up every Saturday at seven, and watch all of the shows right until the end of the block, which was like twelve... I also miss Thundercats, but I have the DVD sets. I have the complete first season, and I have the first half of the second season. (The second season is a lot better than the first, in my opinion!)
Thundercats ruled, though I got into that later. Mega Man's out on DVD too, ya know. 8)
Really? PLEASE HELP ME GET IT! I MUST HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
Wait until I get it. :P
Is it a season set, or something like volume 1, 2,3 ect...? I hate things like that personally! I like season sets, or even better, series sets! (I have a series set for Ronin Warriors. It's the complete series in one 12 disc set...)
It's two seperate sets, one disc for each season, I think.
Oh! How many seasons were there?
According to the best Mega Man site EVER, there were 3 seasons, but the 3rd didn't get past the first episode, so it's probably mixed in with the second DVD.
That's really sad. What's the link? I'd like to see it! Ronin Warriors was going to have a third season based off of the third OVA, but it never happened. I now plan to make the third season myself... But a third season should have been made. It would have been good! I also miss Monster Rancher quite a lot! That was the best! (Correction: One of the best!) :P
I kinda liked Megaman but I didn't really watch a lot of it. It didn't seem to live up to the way i envisioned it in my mind back when I played the very first game on NES. I've never seen Ronin Warriors is it an Anime show? If we're talking all the shows in the Nineties I have a big list of shows I watched. But for now I wanted to mention Sonic The Hedgehog.(The one on ABC not the stupid one that came later.)
I liked the Blackadder series (but it's quite probable no one's ever heard ofd them. :P)

True. I've never heard of them!
Yes, Ronin Warriors is an Anime. I remember I used to go to Blockbuster and get a Sonic DVD. One day I picked up the wrong one, and it was about these to people, one some kind of chicken thing, and another I don't remember, and Sonic had to stop them. It was quite boring. But I think I know the one you're talking about, and I really like it! It was so good! I really miss it now!
And in other news, I just got the first season of Batman Beyond!
I've vaguely heard of Blackadder... *thinks Jeysie mentioned it once*
Was that an odd british show or something?

Not really odd :P. It's a series of comedies based on history with Rowan Atkinson as the main protagonist. The first one starts out with the Plantagenets, the second one with Elizabeth Tudor, the third one in Prince George of Wales' court and the fourth one during the second world war. Each are composed of 6 movies (together 24). And the historical aspect is quite amusing.
It's gonna take WAY too much time and space to discuss all the awsome crap of the 80's and 90's, so I'll just say this..
Thunder...
Thunder...
Thunder...
THUNDERCATS, HO!!!
One of the best saturday morning cartoons ever made! In fact, I'll go fire up my DVD player and play another ep from season 2!
Imo, Thundercats were great. I only hoped that they would have released the DVD's updated with stereo sound and better graphics.

*Wondering if she still has any of the toys packed away*

None taken! You know, they're only like 40 bucks at FYE, and you can get them basically anywhere... The graphics in the second season are better, I think...
Unfortunately at the moment, $40 is hard for me to come by.
Oh. Sorry. I have a job, so I guess that's why I have the money! But just keep trying, and you'll succed. If you believe you can do it, you can! ;) (I hate how those kids values shows are stuck into my mind! Darn you, Mr. Rogers! I actually used to like him, so...)
I read that old shows like the Wonder Years are not likely to come out on DVD. The reason is because of the music. The music in the shows was licensed for television but not for DVD's because no one knew then what a big market DVD's would be. If Hollywood wants to produce them on DVD's now they must pay large sums of money to pay to license the music again. I read about this in the Wall Street Journal about a week ago.
How could they? I want to See Mighty Max on DVD so badly! :'(
I own the Muppet show season 1, the 90's X-Men series, Rocky & Bullwinkle Season 1, and Spider-Man 1960's, on DVD.
I think my friend bought me an episode of Dragnet. :P
What's dragnet? I have every single episode of Viva La Bam, as well as some seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine... Viva La Bam isn't exactly 90's, but does anyone even need to know that? Am I going to get arrested for that? XD
Dragnet is some cop-type show that my dad watched. :P
Ew, Viva La Bam. :P
Dragnet wasn't originally from either the 80's or 90's, though there was a remake series at some point. The original Dragnet is from the 50's. :P
This thread is basically for retro TV. So it's not limited to just the 80's or 90's. Basically anything not partaining to current TV. I will start a thread for that though!
You don't like Viva La Bam? (Some people don't!) I love it! I know people that don't see the point in it... I think...
I don't like MTV at all really. :P
To be honest, I don't even watch it anymore! My two favorite shows on the channel are off the air for good now, except for specials and reruns, which I don't pay attention to reruns as I have all of the eps anyway. So I don't even watch it! :P
Didn't MTV used to mean Music Television? :P
I think so, yeah. But MTV hardly even does music anymore! XD
Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
XD Anyways, the only MTV I watch MTV Hits on digital cable. It has music videos mostly, and TRL is on sometimes.
That's a good song! I love it! ;D
It's not the best song on the CD though, IMHO. :P
(Hint: Get the CD! XD)
I already have it! XD I like track 11 a lot too!
11...wait, isn't that...?
...Yeah. ;P I always skip that song. :P
How dare you! J/K!
The level of cursing might have something to do with it. ::)
my favourite show was Captain Planet and the Planeteeers...
I grew up on TVO and YTV.
and Mr Dress Up and Mr Rogers..not to forget to mention the one show with the guy that was giant, and he lived in a castle, and his friend was a giraffe..
OOO and Cheers..Good show.
can;t forget Cops...I lvoed that show.
Ah, Captain planet! "The power is yours!" I loved that show! They had the first five episodes on On Demand. I watched them... The 5th one was kind of bad...
XD Captain Planet was ridiculously hillarious. My friend and I were talking about an episode he saw at 4 in the morning and it was about Wheeler joining a gun-gang. It was mainly about how guns are dangerous and can harm the environment....XD I like Sledgehammer.
I think I remember that epsiode! That show had all kinds of good morals!
Finally someone else likes Blackadder as well. :P Thank you Bolter00.
Anyone ever heard of SLEDGE HAMMER! (http://www.sledgehammeronline.com/) ?
Nope. Sorry, A3P. :-\
What about Red Dwarf? :D
Zelly recently got me into Red Dwarf, and now there's no escape. XD
I have returned! (for now...) Anyway, for some nice ol' discussion, I'm going to bring up Mighty Max. I never saw it much, but it was pretty much a very cool show when I could steal glimpses of my older bro watching it...! XD
I vaguely remember Mighty Max. XD
With the magic backwards cap (He had attitude! :P), and he had the giant owl and barbarian-dude following him everywhere. XD
The good ol' days... I miss them so much! It's so sad!
