Title: New Super Hero Movies
Post by: Rick_Florez on February 09, 2003, 11:09:34 AM
This is going to be a great year for Super Hero movies.  We've got Daredevil, X-Men 2 and the Hulk all coming out by this summer.

I saw the trailer for the Hulk.....they seem to have done a pretty good job with him.  He actually feels tough and terrifying and ANGRY!!!!   That is sweet ;D   Compared to the old 70s Hulk where you could tell it was just a different guy in green body paint, this will be awesome.  I just hope they kept the origin of being count in the explosion of a Gamma Bomb but from what I saw in the trailer and what I've heard that might not be the case. :'(   Too bad, that origin if done like in the comics would have made a great scene in the movie even if it is a bit far fetched.....oh well guess I'll just wait and see.

First I'll check out Daredevil which is coming out next Friday.

god yeah the hulk does looks like its gonna be really fun to watch, im dying of this damn waiting to get to see xmen2, and daredevil seems cools cause it got the girl from alias!, she got the whole herofemale profile i guess!

due to "govermental" issues here in my country, since december last year we've been on strike for over 2 months and such, so I missed all premiers here, Lord of The Rings2: the two towers, harry potter too and so much more the movie teathers were closed all the time.
Title: Oh Sad
Post by: Rick_Florez on February 09, 2003, 11:37:10 AM
That sucks.  I had heard about that.  How are things now in your country?

like total s*** . . .

Im depressed as hell, its like a nonstoping hell extended from december to know which has its unique quality to transform, from strike, to violence, to govermental measures to keep them all "quiet" I hate neo-comunism, god i do with all my heart.

I cant wait to things get back to normal and be able to go to the movies again, it got really expensive now :(

Post by: koko_99_2001 on February 10, 2003, 02:35:49 PM
I usually don't go to the movies anymore - at least, not the expensive ones.  Our downtown theater is $1 on M-Th and $2 on F-Su!  I love that.  The last three weeks have been "Two-Weeks Notice", "Maid in Manhattan", and "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days".  Then, over Christmas, "TTT" was showing.  I saw it three times in one week!  Fun.

But I feel so bad for you Say! :-[   Where are you from?  I don't know if I ever caught where you're from.

god your all so sweet around here, Im from Venezuela, a south american country (up brazil)

I havent been to the movies in over i dont know 5 months or something, Im really not sure I do ge to see the new movies cause we own a dvd and we rent as much as we can! :)
And answering to your question bloody honor, yeah! same here its 6$  too! but its not that the fact that -that- is just what you buy, I mean there is a lot that you tend to spend when you go to the movies like for example I used to invite my mom and from there 2 tickets, the parking stuff, the popcorn or some other snack :P all that kind of stuff that gets involved there too, so for me to do that anymore either i go alone or i dont go at all :( cause its boring go alone to the movies!!! you all know what I mean.

Its so annoying!, it really is :(

Around here (except for downtown of course) it can be between $6 and $7.50!  Until the downtown theater started getting good movies, I think the last movie I saw in an expensive theater was MIB2.  We just don't go to the movies a lot unless we go downtown (and ya'll can understand why!;D  )

where is that language originally from?
Title: New Super Hero Movies
Post by: BloodyHonor on February 13, 2003, 10:28:50 AM
No I dont speak elven, I just have some words from elven poems on my computer

and he lenguge was just made up by TSR (1st Dungeons and Dragons company) too bad TSR was closed and D&D moved to wizards of the coasts which make it a trashy game Role Playing less, expansive and Diablo like (only attack monsters and kill monsters =/ )

I don't know anything about TSR...I use the Elven language made up by J.R.R. Tolkien...the guy who wrote Lord of the Rings (just in case no one knows that).  He created several new languages (including Elvish) when he was writing his books.  Interesting, huh?

lol like I dint know him, I love Lord of the rings and the hobbit.
but he only made up some names and letters in his maps (that are inside the books). he never made the whole languge in a book.... or did he...?!?!!?!?
Title: New Super Hero Movies
Post by: koko_99_2001 on February 14, 2003, 09:54:47 AM
Yeah, he did make up a whole language...in fact, I believe he made up several.  I know for a fact Elvish.  If he made up any other full languages, I'm not sure which ones...I'll have to do some research on that.

well that shows what being in prison can do to some one.... lol, lots of free time. you know that he was in prison in WW1 right?

wow, interesting.
how you guys learned it?
Title: New Super Hero Movies
Post by: Storm on February 15, 2003, 06:37:53 PM
I checked around a bit...

J. R. R. Tolkien was a proffesor of English language. He made up several languages even before writing any of his books. He was not, however, in prison during WW1 - he was in active duty only a short time before falling ill and returning to England.

Thanks Storm for clearing that up...unfortunately, I haven't had the time to look everything up again (I wanted to make sure I had something varified before I posted it).

Say, there are actually people who know the language fluently and courses a person can take...I haven't had the time to learn the language, but I have about 18 pages I've printed out with different Elvin words and phrases.

What's the point of learning these languages? you might as well learn Klingon or Volcan (they also exist) or Aramaic ::)

Another language hardly anyone speaks is Hebrew... very difficult to learn for English speakers. I think there are more people in the world speaking Klingon than Hebrew :P

btw, I know some words in Aramaic - very close to Hebrew, that one. :D

koko_99_2001 -
Insulted me? where?

I don't think you can see the hebrew fonts unless you have them installed... if you really want to see what hebrew looks like, you can go to the hebrew version of my site and click on the book icon or the revolving smiley in the bar frame - the titles there are pictures of hebrew writing.

And the biography of Tolkien I read didn't mention anything about jail time.

Yeah, I speak French. English is my native language, but I took about 3 and a half years of French and can make up some phrases on the spot, though some words escape me (like what spoon and fork are). So, basically, I can ask for someone to pass the chicken, but I can't ask for another fork. :P

"Passez le poulet, s'il vous plait."
"Donnez-moi un [fork], s'il vous plait."
"Ou sont les toilettes?"

And stuff like that.

I took French cuz my ancestors are French-Canadian, and my memere speaks French just as well as English, so it's handy at times.

I'm also gonna learn Japanese (or I'll try), since I only know "hai" (yes) and "baka" (idiot), just enough to get me in trouble. ;)

Also, I can read most of the Latin-based languages (like Spanish and others) since the words are similar to French words and some English words. That way, I can at least read the signs a bit (though the bigger words escape me).

I have a cool story to tell.  My mom speaks French (she took it in hish school and college) and my siblings and I speak Spanish (b/c that's all my high school offered).  One evening, my brother asked my mom something in Spanish (I think to go to a friend's house), my mom answered him in French, he responded in Spanish, and she said something else in French.  What I thought was so cool was that they understood each other!!!  Me, I don't think I remember enough Spanish to be able to do that!

wow how interesting!, well mine is boring I learnt it by myself at a very young age (english) then eventually I practiced it a lot with pc gaming and stuff hahhahaha, I remember I had noone to talk it with but my teddy bears :P, then when I was like around 16 and I got my pro degree from a language academy, and I started alike on italian and portugese, the french is for listening, but seriously I do suck big time at those myself :P

Hey Bloody Honor! hahaha that word is soooo common from mexico (cabrón), I mean you guys know the difference in all latin countries right? its pretty much the same the difference of slang used all over USA or just in english all over the world, everywhere they use differents terms yet same language, for example it was so fun when i read it, because its not something you use to hear around here :)

It obviously always tend to deform at some places, like in mexico they got this really weird words to say so many stuff, I wonder why they make up so many words like that? :P besides the funny accent, they got one in argentina, and chile, and colombia, etc.

My native tounge is Hebrew. I'm quite fluent in English (as some of you may have noticed :D ).
I studied Arabic at school, but I was very bad at it then and I hardly remember any of it now, though I can sometimes recognize the letters and read words in it (I can spell my own name! :P). However, the Arabic they teach at highschool here is the liturary Arabic, and it's somewhat different than the spoken Arabic.

I also know a few words in the following languages:

Franch (non parlez france)
Italian (non kupisco italiano)
Spanish (gracias por el pougo)
German (got in himmel!)
Africaans (ek gaan en my broek kak)
Yiddish (shain vie die levone)

And yes, I know my spelling is bad. I never said I could spell :-[

BTW - Yiddish and Hebrew have some similar words, and Yiddish is written in Hebrew letters so if someone can read Hebrew s/he can also read Yiddish (though not necessarily understand it).

Just a piece of rather useless information... :P

I speak English mostly, but sometimes if I feel Frenchy I start randomly speaking French sentences.
Like:
"Mon ami est une banane."
"Je suis un anana qui save comment dancer."
"Je suis un touriste."

savoir = to know, I think. I remember sais is the first person at least.

Not too sure about save, I think that's the right form. Kinda makes sense, though, that "to know" would be saving in a game, since the game "knows" where you've been.

It's nice to know where some words come from, at least.

And as for Japanese... I kinda want to see games in their original translation sometimes. And so many games come from Japan, so...
