Title: music
Post by: Rosedragon on November 10, 2002, 06:34:29 AM
I'm wondering, what kind of music do you guys like? I love the kq music, especially kq7 and 6. The themes I've heard for kq9 are great too, I can tell the composers have worked hard. SO what type of music do you all like to listen to? I like a variety of styles, but country makles me groan, especially the old foggie farmer country stuff that my dad listens to, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, etc. I like modern country like Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks and Faith Hill, stuff that borders on pop. Speaking of pop I like Celine Diyon, but Enya is much better. I hate Brittany Spears. I guess the music I like would be called alternative, Jewel and Sarah McLachlan. Both have some deep messages in the lyrics. Then there's rock, I have a collection of 80's rock CDs, Sheryl Crow and Bruce Springstein. Bruce Springstein has a timeless, classic quality that makes you feel both old and young. I like Thunder Road, the verse, "You're not a beauty, but hey, you're all right." is particuliarly amusing. I have the Shrek soundtrack, movie soundtracks are some of my favorite CDs, Shrek is great fun to listen too.

I can't define my taste in music... there's lots that I like.
Enya is my personal favorite, I have all her albums (except for the collection album).
I can also listen too: Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Annie Lennox, Sinead O'Connor, Bon Jovi, Def Lepard, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Leonard Choen, Paul Simon, Toni Childs,  Deep Forest, Enigma, Kate Bush, Cat Stevens, A-ha, Clannad, Nik Kershaw, Tom Petty, The Smiths, The Beatles, U2, Alanis Morrisette, INXS, Suede, and many more - I mostly like individual songs and not artists.
Also - some Israeli artists that most of you don't know so I wouldn't bother with them  :-X
The ones I usually can't stand: Britney Spears, Eminem
I know, I'm not at all fashionable...  :-[

I don't really like any specific type.  Though I listen to mostly pop.  I have a ton of downlaoded songs, because I don't like a groups whol collection of songs, just maybe one or two (Savage Garden is an exception, I loved them, too bad they broke up!)

The other majority of my collection consists of Disney and Weird Al.

Eminem has that movie coming out, 8 miles. I like that song, One Shot, on it, but I'm not really fond of rap or any other songs of his.

Britney Spears is a stupid s*** who promots immorality to today's youth.  >:( She should go out like the Spice Girls.

Im just glad there is more like an open minded today about music, when it comes to pop it doesnt should mean "britney like" Im glad for example this girl avril lavigne appeared, she has this amazing voice and all his songs are really awesome as well as michelle branch, so young and so talented at least they got so much more than just looks, thats what pissed off about britney shes just the tipical clubbing girl you know? so common she aint got something more interesting that that sometimes to offer because to be honest.... agh most of her hits kinda lack of something as what these new pop girls have.

Come on Say, everybody knows it's not about talent or looks, it's all PR anyways. The pop industry is a well-oiled machine and the singer is just the talented puppet standing on a heap of writers, directors, copywriters and consultants.

I would just like to mention that Enya writes & composes most of her songs, and also sings the lead & vocals and plays all the instruments herself (that's why it takes her so long to make an album...  ;D).

What I really don't like is trance & house music (the truth is I can't even tell the difference between them).
I find it rather boring, and I think most people who listen to it must be on drugs to actually like it  :o.

However, it's now very popular in my country and there are many Israeli "trans artists" who are internationally recognized. Go figure  ???

there's a big difference between house and trance, but i'm not gonna explain it, it's too boring  :o

anyway, it ain't true that you should be on drugs to listen to trance, because trance music is the drug itself, it makes me dream when i dance to it  :)

I also like Enigma, Enya, Celine dion, Sash!,...

whatever, no matter what it always takes talent to reach somewhere or eventually it just fades away
